Freelanders are ok but for 4k you may get an older o e and I know they are notorious for head gasket failure! My mum had hers go, sorry not great help
-
its only ever goping to be worth what someone is willing to pay for it imo, i would never pay anywhere near 8k for it as there are so many other cars id rather have for the money but obviously others may disagree? id speak to your mum and try and agree a bare minimum youd accept then put it up for sale. if someone pays your asking price, quids in, if not prepare to drop it till your happy to not let it go any lower? Good luck with it all and be nice to see some pics :)

Bit of a film fest this week as off work but toy story 3 - 10/10 shutter island - 9/10 Sherlock holmes - 8/10 inception - 10/10 I don't normally rate anything 10/10 easily but have seen some brilliant films this week!

Thanks for the comments, really want some modernlines but will have to wait. It's on vmax coilovers, not the top of the range but I can't fault them, picked them up cheap from stvr6 on here. Only used for literally about 500 miles then he sold the car standard. I actually looked at his car while considering this one, but I took the gamble on this one and felt it was a better deal, I'm glad I did now! at least untill something else breaks.. Inevitable owning a corrado :) have to give a good wax during the week and get some pics up when it's actually sunny! Fingers crossed

Not much of an update, changed the fuel filter and fixed the oil leak by replacing the crankcase pulley oil seal, Nice new one sorted that and now after a clean is dry as a bone underneath, and new radiator sorted coolant leak. Fitted new coilovers, ride height is simar to before, slightly lower, just not crashy Anymore and feels more planted. also bought some auto glym leather cleaner and conditioner and some HD wax :) bogof. On the way home from up north the belt snapped so call to the aa and got back to my dads, luckily was only 20 miles down the m1 so got back fitted new belt then drove home. coolant light wouldn't stop flashing tho but after checking levels and temps all was fine. After a week was pretty annoying so removed the sensor and started the car then turned it off plugged it back in and is now working fine :) so pleased with that one! All needs sorting now is the abs light but haven't got Vag com so will have to wait. Leather is now clean and car shiny and my bank empty. Plans are to sell the schmidts as I've sadly had to face facts 9s up front is too much hassle, Im not keen on the porshce reps either so want to sell them, but need some wheels? Was thinking of speedlines powder coated in white after seeing the thread on here but can't do that untill I sell the mls! And can't do that till I receive the centre caps! Lol, I want to get the roof covered in black vinyl too but at £140 seems bit pricey? And I love a charger but that will have to wait. Any few pics, nothing too exciting :) and fronts and bit of waxing with just a part wiped off :)

My old g60 had sns chip 68mm pulley deleted boost return and deact miltek exhUst and porter stage 4 charger and made 170bhp at the wheels and 177lbs ft torque. Guess that equates to Approx 200 if you allow for about 15-20% power loss in drivetrain? Was quicker than the VR I have now anyway :)

looks very nice mate, make sure you get some more pics up when its back from the garage? any details like mileage, work done etc? or have i missed those?

small world hey, sounds good mate, i know of woody in highlciffe, not been to a tidy meet for a long time now, my mates arent into cars and never as much fun going on your own! lol, id love a mini meet tho! i lived in winton for a year and now in westbourne opposite pizza express :)
-
Ah didn't even realise you were local, iPhone makes everything so small, lol. I'm in The center of westbourne, just round the corner. Where are you in charminster? Know of a few other VRs, corozin and woody are local to here too. Don't get me wrong i think the storm is a great car but just doest justify the extra premium for being so over an indentical VR with leather, I don't like the solitudes and wouldn't leave it standard as I don't like the standard rideheight. Fair enough some ppl like to have their cars as rolled out of the factory but I like to emphasis the clean lines and modify it in what I feel to be improvements. Each to their own, it's thanks to ppl leaving theirs standard you can buy one and start on a clean slate :)
-
I thinK a lot of ppl get too obsessed with badges, IMO I wouldn't pay any extra for a storm that's essentially just a VR with leather, a specific colour and different wheels. I couldn't care less to me it's no more special than any other well sorted VR, it's not like vw ever made it that special tbh. If you bought a storm for that reason, for the bragging rights then keep it standard but it's your car and I say make it your own, everyone has individual taste, but there are good points that if you ever want to sell it then beware ppl mY want these mods reversed. I personally like the Audi handles, much smoother but it's a lot of work for something that's not broke In the 1st place? Just my 2p :)

Very clean, looks lovely :)

I just replaced mine the other week, put a thread on here as it was a pain to get out but I did it back up and have had no problems since, thinking I should give it a check 2m now just to see? Didn't torque it up just wound it as tight as I could get it?

great glad i just spent a tenner on some from halfords on sunday! not only missed on the bogot offer now on but i couldve got it stupidly cheap, double kick in the nuts i think! wonder if i can buy some from sainsburys then take that one back to halfords? hmm? -
Sorted, cheers for the advice, had to postion the rod on the lower arm and turn the engine over, did the trick no problems and the bolt was reuseable, don't think it was a stretch bolt, no idea why it had to be on there so tight. Jst took of the crank case plate and banged out the old seal and in with the new :) put new oil filter and fuelfilter on too. So fingers crossed it's all fixed and no more oil leaking? Few days will tell. good old dad, saved me a fair whack in labour :)
-
Cheers for the advice, is the bolt a one time use or can it be put back in? my dad being a little forward said to try and just wedge the bar either on the subframe or floor and take out the coilpack lead and turn the engine over to loosen the bolt?? wasn't sure ifthis a bit extreme. Vw quoted 290 for a new pulley!! So don't want to burn the nut off and need a new pulley.

I've had a slow oil leak on the vr6, I bought it like it and took a gamble. Narrowed it down to the crankshaft seal leaking so have a new one. Problem is can't remove the bolt. Did a search on here and need a bit more info than was provided. Is the bolt a normal thread. My mate tried an air gun and had no impact. Any tips for removal. Mate did say to heat the bolt off but would probably need a new pulley? Don't want to go down this route as I need to drive the car, anyone any ideas on a new pulley cost? Any info on the removal and fitting would be great, just visiting my dad up north and like to give him as much advice as poss, he's experienced with v8s (mustangs) so knows his way round an engine, would this just be similar as any other engine or is the vr different in it's own little vw way. Oh and I read the bolt is a stretch bolt and can only be used once. Surely it doesn't need to be that tight to just hold the pulley on. And if it was removed can it just be fitted again, maybe with a bit grinded off? Thanks for any info, much appreciated craig

Thanks for the comments, looking to get some coilies fitted next week or so, i like the ride height as it is but it is quite bouncy going over bumps. fitting a new fuel filter too. i love the colour eps in the sunlight, pictures above were from my iphone, so not great and was getting dark. with the schmidts i need new tyres so not easy just getting them on, got to pay for new tyres first! im tempted to jusr run them and not have it slammed?? hoping when i get a bit more money sort out the roof and rear bumper. never ending story! lol
-
cheers, yeah I know the lights aren't standard, they've been tinted on the top half, just thought it didn't suit the lines of the car and the all reds just blend in and look less cluttered. I have the 1st set for sale just not got round to a for sale thread yet :)
-
Cheers mate, yeah I'm thinking the MLs maybe more trouble than they're worth? I do love them tho, Just deciding what to do at the mo, either sell them on or just try and see, but they all need new tyres so adds to the dilema? I like the mille miglias but just don't do it for me so would ideally sell them? I knew someone would pick up on the earth wire, it was a direct link from the alternator to the battery as it wasn't charging but Thats all sorted now, had the clocks out and the battery generator led wasn't working so that's been sorted now and fixed a blown light behind the rev counter, so now all is workig and alternator is charging properly so has been removed. One thing sorted and literally another thing goes, this time abs light so I'm hoping it's just a sensor?

Thought I'd put up some pics of my recent purchase. Been on here a while but never posted much when I owned my previous corrado, an aqua blue g60. Loved it but sadly had to sell it to Fund travelling round the world for a year. Now I'm back and settled picked up this 95 twilight violet pearl effect vr6, currently on 145k. It's had a bit of work, on lowered springs with standard shocks, Mille miglia Porsche replicas finished in black with the diamond cut rim. Hid kit fitted and raid steering wheel, painted manifold and colour coded engine cover, Miltek exhaust and it did have some smoked rear lights but not to my taste so purchased the all red rears. The bodywork is very tidy, it's had some paint, there's no stone chips on the bonnet etc but the rear bumper does need respraying and there a few spots on the roof that need touching up. Although I may have a plan to get the roof covered in black vinyl? The engine had a full top end rebuild approx 20k ago costing 1300 and has had a new coilpack, magnecor leads and few other bits. I took a risk picking the car up as I knew it needed a bit of work to make it right hence getting it home then having the radiator blow so a brand new Vag one was put in last week, and it's just had an immobiliser fitted as it was previously removed. Bits I've got planned are to have the rear bumper sprayed, poss get the roof covered in vinyl black, fit fuel filter and some coilovers I've bought and I'm having some dramas at the moment trying to decide whether to fit some modernlines I've just bought but thinking the fronts at 9x16 will be too wide :( If I can get them fitted I'd sell the Porsche reps as although they are nice not my cup of tea, also after a clean today the abs light has just come on so something else to fix! Never ending list, it does sound gorgeous though and love the vr burble, although I'm finding myself with a bit if a heavy right foot as unlike my G60 that had torque all over the place this only gets going really above 4k when the engine just sounds awesome, but Im findin myself nudging the speed limit too often just to hear the engine purr, not an excuse the plod would find to accepting, lol. Anyway here's some pics and let me know your thoughts craig here it is with the standard lights, has now been de-wipered too and a trial fit of the schmidts 8) 8) 8)

its all about reading the small print hey, my dad had an accident in his mustyang and they didnt want to know as it wasnt a breakdown. the public feel that if they stay with a company they get discount etc, i work for a well know insurance company and people always complain about getting cheaper deals as a new customer on the net and theyve been with us for years, a company is out to make a profit at the end of the day, my advice is swap every other year or so, you rarely get any loyalty discount these days, although i try my best as im nice :)
-
cheers guys, apppreciate the help, think ill look into selling them as the inside of the wheel is sprayed tan, looks nice but means its unlikely someone will want a p/x as theyll be a mismatch between the fronts and backs inside the wheel? thinking 9s rear and 7.5s up front would be ok, 9s on the rear should be fine shouldnt they? anyone want to buy a lovely set of modrnlines, look great on a vr, as long as you dont drive, lol!
-
so is it not a case of i CAN fit the wheels on the front but will have some rubbing issues etc, to i definitely CANT even get them on as i physically wont be able to drive the car, turn corners with 9x16s up front? :?
