  1. Thanks for the positive comments. As in the separate thread, installed the small 8" sub and I'm chuffed to bits with it all Also had a mini meet with the southern corrado club on Facebook, sunny weather made for some nice pics down the beach :) And an attempt at being arty Was a great day and good to meet some new faces in the area. Also had the decat pipe fitted friday and when on full chat I'm chuffed with the sound, it has made the exhaust note ever so slightly louder but oh so more fruity :) Also gave the engine bay a wipe down and tidied up the engine plastics. Just ideally need a new coolant bottle now :)
  2. Thanks, appreciate the work. :) called Stanced uk and gold are out of stock in the sizes i want so going to look to pre-order a set end of feb for delivery in march! Going bold and gold :)
  3. I've set my mind on some bbs reps, I know they're not to everyone's taste but each to their own and all. I want the dare reps but can't decide whether to go for the standard silver set with silver bolts or if I can pull off the gold set with silver bolts? Dare wheels http://daremotorsport.com/product-category/dare-euro-edition/ Any photo shop help would be great or opinions welcome
  4. My invoice doesnt actually say but With out checking my bank statement, pretty sure it was from online car audio http://www.online-caraudio.co.uk/shop/subwoofers/alpine/powered-subwoofers/alpine-swe-815-amplified-subwoofer-1041118.html Delivery was free :) I did look at those slim subs and wondered about fitting it under the arm rest. Great space solution.
  5. To add to this thread, after some rubbish weekends of bad weather, today was lovely and I finally got round to installing the sub with Jason VR. As the sub is an active enclosure, it contains an amp and is literally plug and play from the head unit. The wiring kit it comes with is very good but as said, the power cable is short of what is needed. Everything else is fine. But you will need an RCA cable too. I decided to just buy a sub wiring kit from halfords for about £20 with a much better power cable and RCA cables. We ran the power cable down the passenger side by the door and the RCA through the centre tunnel. The unit has a remote and I ran this through the rear seats and I've left it under the rear hump. I've cut the carpet away on the bottom of the sub and used some sticky back Velcro and secured it to the boot carpet My stereo was ok before, good midtones and clarity yet lacked bass, when we fired this up, all I can say is wow, this is the first sub I've had so I might be easily pleased but it ticks all the boxes The sounds are immense. It transforms my stereo and provides that much needed base, the unit is small and compact and takes up minimal boot space, the rear Velcro cover hides away all wires for a very neat install. The remote wire is very long allowing you to pretty much install it where ever you wanted and allows precise control of just exactly how much base you want from the sub. I like mine subtle so I set it, walked around the car with the doors closed and was happy the noise was not obtrusive then I've put the sub remote away under the rear bench hump. I might locate it upfront for ease of control of different tracks but we will see, my stereo allows control of the sub if needed. Overall I'm chuffed to bits. it was well worth the £90 and I can't recommend it enough
  6. Interesting read. Sorry for the hijack, My mum has a Passat, 56 plate i think that was recalled for the same issue, something about the injectors. She took it the the vw garage in Southampton about 6 months ago. My mum is fastidious when it comes to looking after anything and keeps thing immaculately clean, as soon as she went to pick the car up she noticed the bonnet was not sitting flush on the near side by the headlight. She initially thought it was not shut properly but on inspection it was fully closed. After a long debate where my mum advised it was not like that when she brought it in, they took the car back round, presumably bent it back and then gave it back to her, still slightly out of line. She accused them of leaving a tool under the bonnet when they shut it but they denied this. She also thinks they left the oil cap off and started it as oil was on the bonnet soundproofing. They denied any damage and when asked about cctv footage, conveniently for them it had been faulty and was in available. They then brought into question the cars history saying it had had new paint on the bonnet in the past due to a tiny paint blister and therefore likely had been in an accident. The car was first registered new at the dealers in rotherham where my grandad bought it from them and then handed the car down to my mum a few years ago for a present so we know the car had not been in any incident unless it was done when owned by vw themselves. Anyway long story short they denied any wrong doing, blamed everything they could other than admit someone might have made a mistake and treated my mum as if she was a lier trying to get something for nothing. It's lucky I wasn't there with her that's all ill say but it disgusted me they could treat a customer this way. I work in a customer environment and if my company treated customers like this I would be appalled. Seems vw are far from the reputable brand they once were and have problems in their garages with customer relations. I'm glad at least tho you were able to have the issue pretty much fully resolved.

    Waxing wheels

Have some autoglym hd wax too and wondered if this was suitable for wheels. Will give it a try then if its recommended.
  8. cheers mate, just wondered if it had to adhere to some specific specifications, prob just wander into halfords tomorrow then and hopefully get it up and running :) bought some heavy duty velcro from hobby craft so should hold it in place
  9. Cheers for the heads up about the power cable, looking to try and get mine fitted this weekend but as already said, im really pleased with the look, compact size andbuild quality. Prob a silly question but what can you do to extend the power cable, just run a new lenght of cable instead and buy this from an audio shop? im clueless when it comes to audio or electrics?
  10. Yeah as said already have mine sat in the room. It comes with a wiring kit. Not exactly industrial sized wires but it all seems to be there. As well as some pads to mount the remote to control the bass :)
  11. Sounds good mate. Expensive car cover tho, but if it does the job :)
  12. Yep rh zw1 alloys. I've got one sitting downstairs in the cupboard I borrowed off Bournemouth James to try on, it looks ace but at 17x8.5 I think his might be too large for my standard arches?? I've read up about it and there's no definite answer as everyone uses slightly different tyres or has their arches rolled? But it's going to be tight so just deciding if its worth the risk and then they scrub loads? Afaik you can't buy them new but try rh website or Ebay, they do crop up now and again and also plentiful on German eBay :)
  13. id agree with whats been said already. ive never had a schrick mani on but ive got a rotex on. i would think the money saved would be better spent on the engine/charger set up or as vr6 said, brakes. you will certainly need better brakes than the 280s! Or if you want power possibly some cams instead which will give you a much gain in power i expect instead of the manifold. Or if you werent planning on using a charge cooler, you could possibly source all the parts needed to get and keep your intake temps down? :)
  14. Lol, we should have arranged a group buy, managed to get mine for £99 delivered and it arrived last night. Looks nice and well made, very neat with the little details like the hiding cover for all of the wires and mess grill for the connections. The port blocker is well made. It came with a wiring kit too so just need to shift this cold i have and get round to fitting it. How have people secured their sub enclousres, i dont want it sliding about the boot and im unsure what would be the best to secure it, other than making something like a braket and welding it in, i need something more simple? could just staple some velcro to the boot floor?
  15. Thanks for the input. Ive decided to go for the small 8" alpine unit. Reviews seemed good and it's small in size so won't take up all of my boot space, plus alpine always seems to have good quality kit. Just have to wait for it to arrive and fit it now :)
  16. Excuse for another mini meet in the new year I think ;)
  17. Hello, I've never been too fussed about music in the corrado but I played prodigy, fat of the land last week and then led zep and really did notice the complete lack of bass from my stereo. I've kept things basic so far and have an alpine 112ri iPod stereo, 4x50w I think and some standard sized components up front and standard sized upgraded 6x4 rears. The sound is clear but just no bass at all due to speaker sizes. So brings me to the point today, I'm clueless about stereos and after research im contemplating putting an active sub enclosure, sub and amp all on the one box in the boot. I've had a look on the web and these seem to be the best prices and I don't want to spend more than £100 and installing seems to be plug and play? I like the cheap fli one as its smaller than the rest and wont hog my boot space, or possibly the carbon vibe one? Or to complicate matters there's also the slim line ones that allegedly fit under the seat? So anyone have an opinion as to which one would be the best? http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product_list/c_path/1086_63_100/spd/active-bass-tubes---boxes.html I'm don't want to drive round like a chav with bass pounding all the time but just a decent all round sound will do.
  18. Saw one of these in tescos 10 minutes ago, lovely looking car. I was doing some reading up on the Audi rs4s the other week and I was surprised to learn that they have a major flaw in that they suffer terribly from oil deposit build up on the intake valves. On the rs forum I was reading it was a big issue in that the 4.2v8 fsi engine suffered from the problem early on, 30k miles or so and some engines were only making about 380bhp compared to the factory figure 414. This was not an isolated case and was something to do with that as the petrol was directly injected it did does not clean the intake valves? Apparently Audi are denying the issue. Just wondered if anyone else had heard of this as it may run to all fsi engines? Sorry a bit off topic but it makes you wonder what a poor investment these audis might be for a long term car?
  19. Didn't know whether to take this seriously or not, its so silly it makes you laugh, Hard to believe that there can be such a lack of understanding

    Interior condensation

Ha funny you mention this, I said exactly the same thing last week, after parking in tesco and coming out half an hour later all windows were steamed up yet a friends ford focus had perfectly clear windows. Might have to invest in one of those moisture bags. :)
  21. Just watChed all of those you tube vids, impressive stuff but a lot of prep and hard work but awesome results :)
