It is totally possible and i do not deny i could not give my car anymore and he was as i stated pulling away hence thats why it is posted in the "whats beaten you" and not the "what you beaten" thread. My car is quick yes but there is always some1 faster i just like finding out who is and having fun with it, so although i say i raced a lambo, ultima or whatever i know like you say only 1 of us knows.....

Ok so i have been on this forum for a couple of years and never actually got round to take the time to start my own thread on my wonderful Corrado. These are the pictures i have so far and how the car stands at the moment. Right then i have just quickly converted the Nm figure to torque, to show the actual torque figures as in my eyes it is a good torque curve but the graph makes it look short and peaky when its down to the torque peaking so high in the 1st place. As can be seen i have a minimum of 260lb/ft between 3000rpm > 6000rpm, now at 2500rpm its 166lb/ft which is the same as a G Lader peak torque and quite close to a pullied, chipped and flowed charger, and right on the limiter its still doing more than the previously mentioned set up. For the torque to double in 1000rpm between 2500rpm > 3500rpm as it comes on boost you can imagine the problems i have with traction in 1st and 2nd :) hence why i need longer gearing and quite possibly i may be trying the CTN as a cheap alternative to the VR6 set up, i think i have made my mind up. RPM = lb/ft 2500 = 166 3000 = 258 3500 = 317 4000 = 332 4500 = 339 5000 = 317 5500 = 291 6000 = 258 6500 = 239 On the 2 seperate graphs with red lines they are the same dyno run from my engine, just shows you how different they can look to the eye as in the 2nd graph it looks like it has more torque for longer compared to the 1st graph even though they are identical runs. So again Green line is torque, Black line is BHP So opinions please?

Whats a ball park figure to get an engine bored out?
junkie replied to dirtytorque's topic in Engine Bay
Yea it pulls ok just the G60 box lets it down in 1st and 2nd may as well forget it. Its not as flat a spread of torque as i would like but its down to the Piper285 cam thats to blame for that but its still a good spread, bit contradictory i know, lol. It dont look much to be honest -

I dont know but it sounds as though it was going to be a big project in the 1st place if it got all stripped down so why give up at the 1st hurdle?

The only plan is you want a fast corrado does it matter how you get in on the action???? -
No no no, need to drive at varying revs to bed it all in properly. When doing mine it was a 100 mile drive home on the A1 and i was told not to abuse it but when going along keep going into a lower gear and so on speed up slow down all in diff gears etc, (im not painting too good a picture here) but u get the idea.

It was the GTR style but def not the 640. Ultima reccommend using a certain engine supplier from the states but as you say people dont have to as you can put whatever you want in them, hell prob was not even a V8 just a fester 950 pop lol. Going to find him out and get some info on it, i know where he lives. Curious to know myself what was in it cos i thought it should have been faster not that it was slow mind, just not the mind blowing speed i thought it was going to be.

Yeah nice cars those. Didn't it smash the Nurburgring record recently? If he was pulling away 'marginally', he wasn't anywhere near close to it's outer limits, power or dynamically speaking. Turbocharged Corrados are good, yes, but not THAT good and certainly not across challenging B roads, they're pretty poor by modern standards, imo. If that Ultima was driven in the manner it is capable of, you would have been left for dead! I hear you Kev and i thought the same thing as well, all i know is he was pulling away but not at a great rate and it was at a consistent rate, i do agree he could have done more probably, but because it was on a wide country road in the bends i could keep with him, so he never really got the chance to drive it how it probably could have been like it can on a track, but still mighty impressive i think to kinda keep with it,when its purely designed to be a track sort of car. It smashed the 0-100-0 dont know about the Nurburgring but thats with the 6.3L V8 and some1 who knows how to drive. You seen how much they cost to build in kit form, now i not worked out all the math but as a rough adding guesstimate they are in the region of 50k, only ever seen 2 on the road and the 1st was in 1999-2000 so if you want exclusivity get 1 built and laugh at Mr i got a Ferrari.
-
Ultima GTR not sure what engine he had in but it must have been the smaller block V8 or maybe somrthing else but down some fast country lanes that i dont know well, he was pulling away marginally at a steady pace so i know he was giving it the beans so i was impressed with my performance. If u dont know these cars shame on u, google it u will want 1.

Ha ha i raced that exact 1 g60greeny, and it was quite close, they so sound awesome dont they, nice rumble almost quiet on normal driving then WOT and all hell breaks loose.
-
Been looking into grooved or drilled myself and Red Dot do something like 40 groove discs but it says they are not a fit and forget set up and they reguire regular cleaning, so if you go grooved get the smaller number of grooves of whichever make you go for.

Good idea to do the brakes but a bit of a contradiction in ur comment. I cant afford certain brakes but i wont skimp on the brakes.

Fair comment bluejoe. If he wanting 2l etc G60'ness etc more power etc then thats the way to go with yours. -
It does look different but agree that once on different wheels and a different colour etc and not covered up its gonna be completely different. If im right in saying its due out in 2008 sometime, alot can and will change in that short period (some for good and bad changes) lets not forget its still not completed, i remember seein spy shots of the 3 series beemer and thinkong my god they ruined a good looking car, but now i like them.

Dont know if this helps ya but im on 17x7.5 with 215x40 et35 dropped 50mm ish.

I agree both have gone downhill but i still buy them, dont know why but i just have to. When i started to 1st buy them in approx 2001 i found them very informative, good pictures and a good read over and over again, maybe because i was just getting into the scene and each issue taught me something new i dont know but i read either new issue in 10min now. And yes Golf+ lose the chavness And PVW stop trying to be pimp daddy, with all the scene nonsense. they're just too style focused even when a 400bhp comes in, its 1 paragraph on the engine then 14 pages on style. In both mags need to balance the feature/write up out.

Always the same, get a Corrado meet organised and it will always rain.......ruddy typical even in Spain. Welcome again, enjoy your stay!!!!!

There should be info of what gas and the weight on a data plate on the car. Usually R134a and roughly a kilo at a guess.
