  1. I doubt you'll get enough clearance I'm afraid... I reconnect the driveshafts while the engine is an inch or two above the mounts. Now it's boklted in, your best bet is to take the wheel off and diconnect the bottom ball joint so you can pull the whole hub away from the gearbox. Nice to see it's coming along now Hasan :)
  2. Your description sounds like the end of the gear selector shaft off the top of my head.
  3. I assume that you have a black conector from the wiring loom with the two other temp sensors, and a black connector from the wiring loom by the starter motor? The one from the starter motor goes to the black temp sensor, and the one from the loom with the other temp sensors goes to your inlet air temp sensor in the inlet manifold.

Just helps prove my point, most "GTi" spec cars are that power now....
  5. Have a look at this handy list :)

Completely O/T but my mate had a Focus ST170 when it first came out, and I thought that a 5 door golf 8v gti felt faster. Agree with your commets about the amount of power available these days, it wasn't long ago that 150bhp was special, now it's a everyday figure. The escort cosworth was a god amongst cars, with 250bhp and 4wd, now you have a choice of several cars with these features. Shame really...
  7. Yeah but the Barrel is locked into the steering Column this makes it hard to seperate eathier of the 2 without doing damage somwhere ??? There is a way to remove the lock barrel, which I'm not so keen on going into on a public forum, but the process is outlined in the golf haynes manual.

    288 bolts

I errr, sort of couldn't be arsed to go out in the rain to get an allen key, but the pins are basically a 2inch ish long pin with a thread at one end and an allen key head at the other. They screw into the carrier as seen in one pic, and the caliper goes over the top of them, with a rubber boot sitting around the pins allowing them to slide and to stop vibrations being transmitted. The boot covers the head and actually sits beween caliper and pin. See my lovely pics with super dooper photoplopped arrows and illegible text (partly for comedy effect, and party because I am lazy.)
  9. You could have removed the lock barrel without damaging the column! The G60 doesn't have a key based immobiliser. You can retumble door locks. This has been a breif post.
  10. Is my meat not good enough for him now? Shame really, as we'd have had a good chance of sorting it between us!
  11. Well, I was hoping to combine the two by catching Jim in a rare, looking under the bonnet moment...
  12. I think I might have one of those control boxes. We can have a ferret around on Saturday if you want?

I have a helpful set of 288s in the garage....
  14. It's probably because your intercooler is loads more efficient, and pressure, volume and temp are linked. A cooler charge, at a lower pressure is better than a warmer one at higher pressure. Have a read of this ummm post by someone else....
  15. Lol, I never wanted a Clio, but she wouldn't buy a corrado! Lol. She ended up with the Stilo btw.
  16. Cool, another local. Have a look at http://dubcollective.phpbb3now.com for a proper local forum. Hopefully we'll get some meets organised soon. Do you fancy coming up to stonor park?
  17. Sounds like it's pressurising the crank case, so broken ring, or knackered stem seals. Sounds bad :(
  18. You need a spline tool for the drive shafts, and thats about it.... you can block the engine up and roll the shell back off the engine if you don't have a crane.
  19. Do you mean it was blowing out of the dipstick tube?
  20. Ok, ignore the bottom ball joint... Its the joint between the end of the wishbone and the hub, and allows the hub to pivot and move up and down. There are 2 bolts holding the wishbone to the subframe (19mms?) one horizontally back to forwards at the front of the wishbone, and one vertically at the back. There are 3 10 or 13mm bolts holding the ball joint to the wishbone. The drivers side needs the engine jacking up or the sump removing to get the wishbone off.
  21. In the new Evo magazine, they drive the Caddy Van and the Jetta 1.4 TFSI thing. Also last year we went to Brands hatch and had a rado display (but no parade lap) for the VW cup. Dunno if we'll get another chance this year.

  23. Oh. I thought this was going to be a thread about throwing it in your cousin, especially given your location ;)
