  1. ??? Most early cars came with the same spec as the late ones, electric windows, mirrors, sunroof, "rare Karman interior" etc. My late VR has nothing the early valver doesn't
  2. The KR isn't that bad, and the late interior only has slightly different switchgear, don't see why people are so excited about the later spec interiors to be honest, I don't think there is a significant improvement over the early stuff.... The exteriors changed shape around 1992, there are some 1.8s with late exteriors, and some g60s, none of these came with late interiors though, there are very few vr6s and 2.0 16vs with early interiors. Some of the late low spec cars also had normal bench seats in the rear, rather than the 2 bucket type affairs.
  3. Same here, Classic Car is not widely available in Saudi :( You mean it's not on the shelf of the local W H Smith, inbetween Real Ale Monthly and the Bikini Edition of Sports Illustrated? :( I did go looking for VW driver yesterday, for the 8v article but failed to find that in Winchester. :( :(
  4. Good, that's at least one person who will be on my back to get it done. Anyone else? Me too... I want to see how your conversion goes before I start mine ;)
  5. I'm sure a tent will suffice..... Anyway, you're just jealous Yay! Yum Yum. :D
  6. Course I will, I've got mother on standby with the sausage machine... Want anything else? Might bring a few burgers too. Can you bring some piri piri? Yum yum, sausages and piri piri for breakfast while we all laugh about people running round half naked the night before...
  7. I think we all knew the tone in which you intended it. Don't worry dude! See you up there!
  8. Think they are ok for the average person, I wouldn't be in a hurry to use them though. Where are you? There might eb a good specialist nearby that someone could recommend.
  9. Don't know if this will help much, but there's alittle bit about crank sensors in this thread.
  10. Late fogs and indicators are also flush, early units are set back nearly an inch into the bumper.
  11. Some J and K reg G60s had late exteriors but still had early interiors. DanVW's car is an example of this.
  12. I saw that. I can't believe there are people advocating it on there, and taking the p!ss out of people who say it's wrong.... Tried to argue the case that it's not safe, but it's falling on deaf ears.
  13. :( Bloody hell, looks like you were very lucky to be unhurt. Poor old car though.
  14. Oooh. Curry with half rice, half chips. Lovely.....

Have you got a coil pack on your vr? I assume it's probably that breaking down. Wait till it's getting dark and start it up, you'll probably see arcs jumping somewhere on the ignition system. Try cleaning the area and spraying it with wd40, the coilpacks can be repaired... Tom
  16. /must resist wanting to buy stuff to be honest, you can make decent wedge from breaking a storm, if you've got the know how, time and can be arsed with people asking a million questions you answered already ;) As Goldie says would be worth offering it up for someone to repair. Alternatively offer the whole unit up for sale to break for spares. If you do want to off load her as a complete unit, let me know, I'd be interested. Best off making a list and being very very organised. There have been quite a few cars broken on here recently so you can get an idea of prices quite easily. You will need to get a good idea of postage, post office is reasonable up to 1Kg, look around the £5 mark if its over, Palletline are ideal for units such as the engine and box, but you could do with a pallet and possibly forklift. Parcels2go.com (I think) were good for me the other day with an exhaust silencer costing £13 to send to Scotland, and it arrived within 24 hours. When all is said and done, the most important thing is to keep good records of everything you do, offer and sell to people. Good luck p.s. sell it to me for £5.... ;)
  17. Maybe the part that is glued needs heating and moving a touch?? Actually. everything I've posted or said, was said by Yan earlier. He's cleverererer and quickerererer than me :(
  18. I've been trying to work out the best way to measure it... suppose use a tape mesure from the top edge, and use eyesight, guess work and newts tails to measure how far out it sticks. I can have a measure up of mine, but you should be able totell by comparing the two wings. Can't remember the difference, but I think it's about 10-20mm each side. so not a huge difference. Helpfully, Mr Bently gave me this diagram earlier... Edit. Which doesn't give you the correct gaps... hang on....
  19. There's a lot of adjustment in the wings. The bently manual shows you how to do it. Does it actually sit further out? Another reason could be *whispers* poor accident damage repair. The body shop that is spraying the car can probably get it sitting on the beast a bit better, I'd imagine.
  20. Mike_G60 was pushing 250 hp and 220lb/ft with his G60 with no bottom end work. I'd investigate his old car, stunning bit of kit.
  21. I don't think your car runs if it doesn't work. I'd ignore it for the time being and follow Yan, and Dr's advice.
  22. The engine speed sensor error occurs when the engine is off and vag com is plugged in. Because the engine isn't running, it assumes that there is an error with the speed sensor, when actually there isn't.
  23. Now he tells me! Another thing if you're putting a B4 roof into an early car, you'll need the old motor (hardwired into the loom) and also need to swap the sunroof surround from the Passat (all the way round) to the Rado (hole at front) or, as I did, trim off the "Lip" on the sunroof switch cover... Also I noticed early motors don't have an allen key to manually wind the roof! :( Eeeeeehh???? The early motors are plugged into the loom, different place to the passat ones though, I've unplugged mine alright. What do you mean sunroof surround? The 'W' profiled plastic trim that holds the headliner to the sunroof frame? I reused my old rado one, fitted fine. Also, the early motors have a slot for a screwdriver instead of the allen key. You've just got to push the nubbin in the middle in with the screwdriver. HAve you adjusted the height at all? You just loosen the 4 torx screws you can see when the sunroof is tilted.move the roof, re-tighten and try it out.
