Excellent, I realise the fans being on won't actually cool the coolant if the stat is shut, but I like the idea of moving the hot air around and out of the engine bay if sat still. I'll speak to you about it Saturday. :)
-
So, if I was being slightly over the top I could have it switching on water temp, say 95 degrees, oil temp, say 120 degrees, and air inlet temp, say 60 degrees. With the thinking that the coolant needs cooling, if the oil got really hot it could do with more air moving around the block to help dissipate heat, and if it sits for too long the inlet manifold starts getting hotter and air moving around the bay could help keep it cooler? Or would this be well over the top? Edit, and, could the display show oil pressure or an alarm for low/high oil pressure?

There's no need to do wheel bolts that tight.

I've just got a cheap ebay cable which seems to work fine at the moment, or do you need the CAN Bus cable?
-
:) It is a proper weapon. Must catch up with Rob and try to get a ride out in it.

Awesome! They look awesome mate!

:) Actually the bulkhead remained quite strong. I think there may have been a bit of a bump when I hit that.

Down to three corrados now...
-
I also bought a cheap one and it works fine for clearing codes and watching measuring blocks.

Fairy muff. Just seen you mention the VSR in your other thread. Not often you see them with the engine plastics on. Can't see where the vaccum pipe fits to the actuator though.

Err, any more pics of the inlet manifold?

Meth, I'm awaiting a reply from you via PM. Please can you update me? Thanks. Tom.

Neither of those numbers exist in my copy of ETKA???
-
Are you sure it's AD, it doesn't show up in ETKA. CH is for a BUB code engine, before the lambda, on the left. I *think*.
-
That's a shame! Nevermind, as usual it seems you have a lovely neat solution for yours there! How're the seats going.

I've been wondering about turning my brackets from DG around and using push fans. Should all fit, and as you say would give loads of room in the engine bay.

Indeeeeed. It's in the same vein (fnnnaaaar) as "As wet as an otters pocket" Sounds interesting having the soft start. Been quite surprised at how the fans pull the idle down when they kick in, especially given that they have such small wiring to them.

My magnex does this too. But I do keep battering it getting in and out of my garage, and my parent's farm...

Looks awesome in those photos!

How much can be taken off the VR6 head ("shaving" it down)
Toad replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
It's called head skimming. Hope that helps... -
The pump is there to pump the water round the system when the car is off anyway isn't it? Yeah, to stop hotspots forming in the head.
-
I do like a good knob. I'm a little worried I will wear mine out on the Alpine as I fiddle with it for ages looking through the iPod library...
-
I *believe* that the pump and fans are both controlled through the fan controller. Certainly my pump didn't work when the unit was broken, and it seems that the controller gets feeds from the temp sensors. If the Mk5 ECU bypasses the fan controller, then that sounds the way forward.

Do you want me to send you some plastic sheet? I am going to start making door membranes and selling them, but I've not gotten round to it yet...

Decided that it's still not finished, so the 16v is having to wait a little longer. Had issues with injectors, so I have a second set of cleaned injectors coming, plus hopefully a new fuel rail and FPR, going to change the pump, filter and injectors. Still with Mic's injectors in it covered another 700 miles, and converted a few people to the noise of a VR... :) Drove the 16v home tonight. Can really feel the difference in the efficiency of 280 and 288mm brakes. Got a bit too used to the 288s...
