  1. Cheers Dave. :) Nudged about at a few things a bit more and am going to make an effort to start cleaning it perhaps Thursday night. Can't do much to the engine without tappets and a new oil pump. Also going to check the big end bearings for any signs of oil starvation, just to make sure it is all ok. Getting some shelving so I can empty the car out soon, which will be handy. Can then start to look at swapping the rear beam and front subframe, and getting the brakes fitted.

    Big end caps

Bonjour. I want to pull some bearing caps off my VR to satisfy myself that I didn't have any oil starvation issues. Can I reuse any bolts/nuts etc ok, or should I be buying new ones? I know I could probably look in the bentley, but that's literally several button clicks away...
  3. See, I don't think this is a problem. As long as the temp is being kept stable...
  4. Looks like you made a good bit of progress. Is that u-bend going to be at risk of damage in it's current position?
  5. No worries Neil, it's quite handy having a mound of corrados lying around. :) Hope you're enjoying the car. :D
  6. The images need to be less than 800 pixels wide i'm afraid.
  7. I might need it after the lactation issues at Stonor today.
  8. Knocked several items off the list this last week :) Spent £100 at the dealers :( Investigated the timing chains, and gearbox faults and am fairly confident that it's all ok, got the replacement guides and another box to wack on... The lower timing chain guide was in many many peices Did find a lot of plastic jammed in the oil pump pickup gauze. Hope that this didn't cause oil starvation issues, as my oil pressure switch might not have worked due to a little bodge  The clutch is very good, plenty of meat left on it. just need to motivate myself a bit more. :)
  9. I wondered what he was up to with the tit tape...

    VRT Help..

Have a look at the forced induction VR6 thread above....
  14. It is on the 16v....
  15. What engine? The BMC CDA only fits the VR6.
  16. Well to be honest, if the car is driving ok, and the only thing is the temp guage rising to a level higher than you expect, then I wouldn't worry too much. My VR used to suddenly shoot up to 110+ but this was down to a fault in the temp sender. And 20 miles isn't a short distance in my book. Tom.
  17. Free Willie. Good luck!
  18. Haha! Reminds me of the IT crowd when Jen is seeing a bloke called Peter File.
  19. Henny. Great to deal with, parts arrived this morning. :D Cheers Dude!
  20. Is the solenoid common to other cars? Could try aquiring a good second hand one?
  21. I *think* it's just a cover that sits in the wheel arch, I believe the screws that hold it in place get pretty rust and may have given way on yours. I'd jack it up, remove the wheel and pull the cover off for the time being....
  22. No worries, you just need the bit after the v= between the youtube tags. Car looks good. I keep wondering about a blue VR instead of a white one...
  23. Haha. :) Fixed the link for you too. :)
  24. Just saw you on the roundabout by the Westgate, I'd wandered out of the council offices after some training. Car was looking nice 8)
