i have a 18T with a red T ( leather Recaro's) i know that some of the early ones dont have the red T. i think VW want to point out the difference between the non turbo 20v and the turbo 20v thus the "red T" VW have droped thr non turbo 20v from the range now and replaced with the old 2.0L 8v :?

Mate I think that it could be fact that TDi produce a lot of torque at low revs which is a good thing when pulling a car along, but once the revs are up 4000+ you know that your VR will pull and feel a lot better/faster. Get your car checked over though if you feel that its lagging behind - cant hurt to give it the once over :)
-
Get the Registration and call VW and aks for a service history check, they should do it for you. Then you may some idea of what the car has had done, they should fax it over for you also.

would be cool to see what we could come up with some of the old photoshop cut and shut stylee

I have Toyo T1 Proxies and i rate them, a mate of mine has them on his Porsche Carrara 4, and recons that they are as good or better than his old Bridgestone S02's

Seem that we all have our own likes when it comes down to our oil preferences. The reason that I was thinking about moving to Mobil 1 (15w50) is that firstly I think that Quantum Synta Semi Synthetic is a bit too thin, as VR tend to drink oil anyway this cant be good. Secondly a friend of mine who works at a VW Dealership was sent on a oil training day held at the Mobil 1 HQ, and came back very impressed indeed and the news from the inside at VW is that they are apparently going to switch over to Mobil 1 in the near future. Also: Quantum Synta Semi Synth (10w40) Mobil 1 fully synth (15w50)? A fully synthetic oil with a higher viscosity that the semi synthetic oil. Bellow taken from the Mobil 1 Web site. Applications: Mobil 1 with SuperSyn™ 15W-50 is perfect for hot-running (we all know that VR's love to or seem to run hot) or heavily loaded vehicles and high-tech imported cars. It offers an extra level of protection, even under extreme use. It would be interesting to see if we can se up some kind of group buy??

How much will VW charge for new radiator?? (VR-Fitted)
dav replied to Ice White Socks's topic in Engine Bay
I also have a £500 bill relating to a radiator replacement on my VR6, that was from some dealer in London called “Scottsâ€. Bit Steep I think. -
What oil do all you VR6 owners use? I am using Synta Quantum Semi Synthetic 10w40 at the moment, but i am thinkinking of changing over to Mobil 1 15w40. Just like to know what oil you other chaps a running and how much your VR uses?

I have heard that swapping the cams with the ones from Golf GTI 16v helps, and a funny one this, but I have also heard that if you use an exhaust cam on the inlet it will also help gain a few bhp up the mid to top end. Apparently all you have to do is chop the end off and get a slot machined in it for woodrush pin and fit it. I think that it has something to do with the slightly wilder profile. The chap the was talking to about said that it goes a bit mad after 4500 rpm with this mod. He said the he got Stealth Racing to machine the Cam for him. Also you can up the fuel pressure, by opening and adjusting the Fuel Pressure Regulator, but this would only be worth while of you already made mod's that require the extra fuel. HTH

I am thinking of lowering my Carrado, (4x4 ride hight at the mo-"standard") I already have Koni top adjustable fitted although I am not sure what springs to go for. :? I have had experience with both Eibach and H&R springs before but only on golf’s, must say that I preferred the H&R’s. Has anyone fitted a Koni/Eibach or Koni/H&R combination on a Carraddo before? I don’t want to drop the car to low, and would like to maintain some kind of ride comfort. Thanks in advance for all help Dav.
