  1. Could there be any chance of a mouse etc getting in the garage?
  2. Same here, 36yrs and had car nearly 11yrs
  3. Found this in the steering thread Not sure how easy it is to do or if any specific tools are needed
  4. I seem to recall kev haywire talking about it in the past. Something i should consider as my rack is old and high miles now.
  5. Gaitars shouldn't have fluid in them. So you're correct and its probably a seal in the rack
  6. If you have a multi meter, i would turn the lights on and check the wiring at headlight plug to see if you have power there. Just stick black one on the earth and then try positive on the other three. One should have power.
  7. Yeah i think it's definitely blowing there. Think i need a better clamp. On a positive note i think the new cam sensor has fixed the misfire feeling. Mpg has gone up too, was about 22mpg.
  8. Taped mine with a 3M acrylic foam tape. Worked great, practice fitting them before using the tape imo
  9. Since getting car back in the road I've had bit of misfire at lower revs and under load. Comes and goes but is there more than it isn't there. Checked coilpack and leads today as it feels the same as when they break down. Did a vagcom and a cam position sensor came up so swapped that, also thought I'd change fuel filter as car sat for a year with a little bit of fuel in it. Anyway, when i started car up to check for fuel leaks on filter i noticed water being blown out from where the cat joins to the back boxes. Seems to be quite a bit dripping out, car idled fine and no steam from the tailpipe. Waiting for it to cool so i can tighten the clamp. Just weird. Coolant seems to be a stable level, but only dobe about 100miles so far.
  10. I've never seen mine so no idea what i really need yet. But seem to end up doing jobs twice when i buy the cheapest stuff.
  11. ECP list a bosch one for £190. Drops quite a bit with a sale code. Think it's £117 this weekend. I just worry as my pump is still the original after 230,000miles and 22yrs. It started making strange noises about 5yrs ago and was going to replace it but the noise went away.
  12. I've just been to VW to get a pump and they are discontinued now. Was £271, they ran out in 2016.
  13. What's the underside like on them? I remember some vw mats not being the same as the original ones.
  14. The pumps. Original on left, VW supplied in middle, gsf supplied on right.
  15. Well it sorted the problem, did about 40miles this evening and no noise.
  16. I did and told them to stick their stuff back on the shelf, then the guy offered me discount and i started to think i wanted to drive car this weekend instead of working on it. Am going to write to VW about it, might get a free keyring
  17. Fitted it this evening but haven't started car to see if the noise has gone. Was no noise from the pump i took off when spinning by hand, but felt stiffer than the one vw supplied. Worked out the kyb one from gsf has only done a hundred miles or so.
  18. Collected today. Took my original pump with me, despite it being stamped zf and 1994. Because the vw sticker had come off after 22yrs they wouldn't accept it as a vw part so i had to pay the £100 surcharge. The parts guy was really helpful, it was head office/parts returns that said no. He managed to help me by doing a discount on the pump, making it about £250 and then surcharge on top. Pump isn't the same as the original. Its KYB branded now, which is what i have on the car at the moment. Bought from gsf. Although the vw one looks alot nicer made.
  19. I don't mind this sort of car, but i can't imagine driving it to anything other than an american car meet.
  20. I managed to remove my beam and brackets, had them powder coated, painted the underside of car. Reassembled it as best i could by eye/tape measure and apparently it didn't need adjusting when i took it for alignment, I don't know if this was laziness on behalf of the garage or i'd managed to get it spot on. Drives fine (better than it ever has, also did steering column, suspension etc) But i'll be keeping an eye on tyre wear.
  21. Same love that car, has the muscle car look, reminds me of a corrado as well. think it was keith floyd driving about in one on his chef show.
  22. I figured i haven't really spent much on corrado in the last year and can't be arsed buying a cheaper one again. Not even sure it's the pump yet, but its my best guess and seems easier to replace than the water pump
  23. Also only 4 Corrado pumps left in stock now
  24. Just back from VW, £342 for the pump and £41 for the belt :! So ordered that  mk4 golf pump was even more money, something like £447
