  1. What i'm after and i think its going to be a long shot is the sill part, but right at the front where it meets the front arch. And also part of the sill. Its a right pain in the arse, and tbh i'm not even sure i am going to continue with the car anymore, depends how well it goes finding the bit of metal (can you still buy parts like this from VW?, no doubt its a silly price) I imagine if someone is scrapping a shell then this part will probably be rusty already. ---------- Post added at 10:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:29 AM ---------- not even sure how to repair it, as there are three lips all welded together along the sill and two of them are rusty
  2. taken my wings off and started cleaning up the rust and on the lip where the arch liner fixing too, some of the holes for the screws have rusted away. Not sure how to fix them, could try and get a strip welded and make new holes in it. When i've heard people talking about rolling the arches, does that mean folding the lip up? how do the arch liners fix to it after that? Will upload some pics of what i mean ---------- Post added at 01:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:31 PM ----------
  3. i'm not 100% sure on the answer, i went from 280mm to 288mm so have spare carrier, will take a photo of them
  4. what does it sit on? the front wings? as i've taken them off at the moment? i guess i would also need to come collect it as it looks like it wouldn't fit in the postbox ---------- Post added at 09:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:38 AM ---------- sorry just read your post above, does that mean it sits where the battery is?
  5. i have some 280mm carriers sat in the garage and you could have them for £15 posted if you need them. i recentely cleaned all the corrosion off them and they probably need a quick wipe and ready for painting
  6. not really seen you but i assumed you were older than me, not 25yrs.. weird that, i'm 30yrs old soon :!
  7. excellent, just what i was after, thanks
  8. they sell the small round metal VW logo keyrings in my local dealers spare parts office. all mounted on a little rack, but i've not been tempted, i have the pewter corrado keyring from here and still looks cool
  9. Is it possible to buy a complete set of clips for all the water hoses from anywhere other than VW. I imagine VW overcharge for them, i fitted a set of samco hoses a couple of years back and used jubliee clips, but never been too happy with them and would like to go back to the proper clips.
  10. am about to redo them with folia tec or some vht paint that alex posted the other day.
  11. just to reply to these after my experience (have given it a few years) calipers when i got them starting to clean them up totally cleaned, no corrosion left painted with hammerite and rebuilt Year or two later not sure what i did wrong.
  12. argh, so hard to choose, was set on silver till i read OSV's comment. think i'm going to stick to black again
  13. am going to re paint my calipers, (seems the hammerite didn't last too well), was going to buy the folia tec stuff, but not sure what colour to get. at the moment i have black, and should really just buy black again, but tempted to pick something else, maybe silver? iirc goldie had red calipers, but struggling to find his photos, anyone else got photos of theirs for ideas?

    Sill rust...

think i saw a photo of a sill the other day and iirc its just the middle bit? not sure how to repair mine, will just try and shape some metal, i cut the rust out today
  15. when i went to the dealers for the calipers he came up with 9 different part numbers for them, all with a different letter at the end, i just went for the latest letter
  16. an old car phone kit? i had some aerial wires from one in my car

    Sill rust...

just taking mine apart and finding the rust, can put my hand in the sill now, i guess the underseal had split i reckon it would be pretty impossible to find a corrado now that doesn't have hidden rust, unless its mega low miles and hardly been used ---------- Post added at 09:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:33 AM ---------- mine: was no sign of rust on the outside, and underneath it starts to run along the sill join . all easy to fix though and no need to be scared of a little rust
  18. tomtom isn't very oem, i certainly wouldn't use the oem excuse to justify that headunit and then fit a tomtom
  19. it could well be, how do they work? not seen one before...
  20. basically want to take mine off, refurb it, fit new rack and refurb all the other bits, but leaving engine alone, would i need to support the engine from above the car, or could you put something underneath?
  21. anyone know if its possible to remove subframe while leaving the engine supported in car?
  22. very tempted as i bought a new one from VW and it lasted not even 2yrs, have got another new one waiting to go, but almost worth having another spare, although the 1st one of mine may be fixable. will say a possibly for now if thats ok
  23. i think the steering wheel looks good, liking the perforated bits and the red doesn't look too out of place
  24. looks ok, when mine broke once i found i just needed to tighten the cable using the brass cone thing at the other end. i think the plastic cone you have there should have the outer black part of cable touching it.
