  1. this is weird i just been outside, (car has sat in garage since i discovered it wobbled) and found that the rear doesn't wobble at all now, its solid? it must be the wet or the heat that does something to them, probably why its never shown up before, i can't tell anything is wrong now when i shake car
  2. i think your right too, a 40mm drop on a passat would then be a true 40mm drop on a late corrado. instead of fitting a 40mm kit and going down 90mm i may phone up Pi and weitec about this, as its false advertising in my mind, i've bought two sets of springs now and they lowered over twice what it says on the tin
  3. Cool, The cars not on the road yet so I'll take the battery out and give the tray some attention. Will a sand, rust treatment and cheeky spray do? Suppose it is probably just water coming in around the headlights from the hose. Another quick question, I've got a Clifford Concept 300. Assuming taking out the battery isn't going to have it going mental or anything? Yet again, a noob with aftermarket alarms  yeah that'll be fine, just good to stop the rust and re protect the area. i think disconnecting your battery will affect the alarm, i have to reset mine each time, its not a clifford though, so probably best to check some kind of manual
  4. i'd say the water is there from you washing the car. if it were me i'd probably take battery out, maybe the lights and treat the rust, it will only be surface rust i reckon. i did all my battery tray area with black hammerite as it never gets seen, its just knowing when to stop thats the problem, you'll be painting the whole bay before you know it :D
  5. haha that would be one HUGE exhaust!!!
  6. i'd like to solve this mystery as when i buy -40mm springs for my late VR they drop the front -90mm i reckon they are designed to the early springs and they take 40mm off that, so fitted to a late car the drop is massive
  7. mythbusters proved that wrong  you have more grip but less control when turning i never heard the rumour before, thought i'd just made that up
  8. i think my plan is to attempt powerflex rear bushes with a useful mate and also fit the suspension as thats quite easy. then a trip to stealth to get it all setup, otherwise it will be a massive bill
  9. my rear bushes look like they have nearly removed themselves lol i can see i metal rod where axle joins car, and the axle slides along that quite freely
  10. yes i'm so pleased i've found something wrong, in a strange way, as i've not enjoyed the car for about a year. the thing is with my suspension is the front seems too low, i think if i get the KW1's i should be able to gain 10mm on the front and that should bring the wishbones level not sure why but the weitec -40mm spring kit and the Pi -40mm spring kit both lowered the front of mine by 90mm
  11. i thought of that, but with the coilovers, bushes, geometry setup and a couple of tyres its probably going to come to £1200-£1500 to get someone to supply and fit. if i can fit suspension and the bushes then ill pay for tyres and geometry setup at elite or maybe stealth. deffo not using the local garage for everything anymore, am sure i dropped it in for a service once and they forgot to do it, never got book stamped nor do i get a bill, but they were convinced i had paid so left it and did a service myself anyway
  12. people did mention it, but the chap i bought car from (works at the garage) said they had already been done so i dismissed them  i have a feeling they may of fitted them and used cheap parts or not got it right, i remember a knocking from the rear since i bought the car
  13. i have a local garage with the lift etc but a bit unsure whether i want to use them, i've asked them numerous times to check out all the suspension and they miss things imo. it wasn't long ago they fitted the rear wheel bearing and brakes, brake lines on axle etc and they didn't notice this. Then weeks before that i had that wishbone issue where it came loose and they haven't noticed this either. i reckon its been buggered/loose for ages, was just by chance i decided to rock the car yesterady really pleased in a way as its been a nightmare to drive and now i think i know why  I was turning through chicanes and wondered why after the 2nd one there was a fight to get car straight again
  14. thanks for that. has anyone tried the powerflex bushes? it sounds as if they are easier to get in
  15. if thats true then mine has lowered 90mm on 40mm springs at the front? i measured 580mm to the arch from the ground and i have standard VR speedlines
  16. just found my rear axle bushes are totally shot!!!!! explains so much, in fact i was pleased when i saw it as it should solve alot of problems  i still plan to get the KW1's, i notice they also make a street comfort kit that lowers from 5mm to 45mm, sounds ideal but costs about £900 :(
  17. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2kaDczYUe0I a bit long, but crazy, especially at around 4mins 20 sec in (ish). Must be drifting backwards i'm sure
  18. when i push the car from side to side, the whole rear end moves about and the rear axle stays there. theres over an inch of movement, you can see it moving when you get under the car. I think the bushes deffo need doing. is this something i can do myself, is going to get expensive otherwise as i 'm about to get some KW1 coilovers too in an attempt to lift the front end up
  19. none were oily like that, i still have them i should just take a pic
  20. LMFAO, think i just figured out why the car handles so bad
  21. mine looked like a mix of 22 & 27, deffo looked white with a grainy powder coating them
  22. exactly, i've just started reading through this post, i know its old but the same thing stuck me instantly. even how much air is in tyre can change things 5-10mm????? surely the centre of wheel is best, the suspension strut almost finishing around there too?
  23. not to my taste, the best thing on the front of a corrado is all the rectangles that work together, headlights, grill, fogs, indicators and the numberplate
  24. just tried to measure my ground to arch lol think the ground must be uneven as i got weird results front drivers: 570mm front pass: 600mm rear drivers: 6300mm rear pass: 600mm will try again later are your coilovers on the highest settings Goldie? my only other option i can find is eibach springs which state a 30mm drop instead of 40mm
