  1. the old plugs were NGK's with the twin pointy bits (electrodes) and the white bit around the top, i.e: the bit that sits in cylinder. Not sure how long ago this has happened, i usually take car to be serviced and let them decide what needs doing. (i don't think they have ever changed the leads) and the spark plugs must be 30,000 miles old i reckon. am doing it all myself from now on
  2. i changed the plugs, leads and coilpack on my VR yesterday and noticed all the plugs seemed quite white, with quite lumpy/salty looking deposits. And on one of the plugs a chunk of the porcelin was actually missing :gag: from looking around online i get the feeling it means its running lean? Could that be caused by the recent BMC cda i put on?
  3. what suspension do you have Goldie? i was going to pm you as i knew you had same sized wheels as me. i'll measure to the ground on mine then, i thought the centre of rim was a better idea as its not affected by the rim size

  5. i'm not sure what to do from here with mine, not sure i would be happy with the standard look as when i see the old pics it looks naff to me :( But at the same time it really isn't nice to drive and seems to be shaking itself to bits at the moment. front before After the back didn't drop that much, good comparsion photo
  6. mine are: Car: 1995 VR Suspension: Pi -40mm springs Front = 307mm Rear= 325mm
  7. right am still suffering with this poor handling, after the new wishbone on the front died, now the rear end feels loose i suspect something is buggered there too. I've decided to fork out a load more dosh and try and sort it once and for all :( could people with late VR's tell me the measurements they have from centre of wheel to the arch, on front and back and then state what suspension they have. i'm now considering getting coilovers supplied and fitted by stealth, new rear axle bushes and then get the rest inspected and setup properly. i have to raise the front as its too low and thats with -40mm spring kit, i've tried two sets now and both too low at the front?
  8. i fitted weitec -40mm springs to my late VR and the front dropped way too much and it drives like crap now, changed them for Pi springs and its still the same, too low and crap to drive. i almost considering putting car back on standard shocks and springs. Or i buy some coilovers, but worried the minimum drop may also be too low. My suspension has been the bane of my life since i fitted it :(
  9. yeah the plunger is just a piece of plastic with a spring in it
  10. i tried for ages to get my warning triangle out, but i think it had never come out before and was stuck in there!!!!
  11. lol i already bought new leads too, and spark plugs :( cheers for the coilpack though
  12. my coilpack has always sparked when wet, i bought a new coilpack, shown in pic. before i've fitted it, i have had car running and sprayed the old one with water and sparks can be seen bridging from the edge of the ht lead/where it meets coilpack, and the sparks leap to under the plastic cover which i've taken off the new one to show whats what. is this a design fault or a problem with my ht leads?
  13. i smoke in my corrado :( i know i shouldn't but its mine and i have, i intend to give it a proper clean up one day. you probably need to get rid of all the ash, so taking things apart and finding stuff thats filtered down to places. here is a place near me that do fogging, i spose before i sell car (if i ever do), i'll send it to them http://www.clean-image.co.uk/odour-kill.htm
  14. Nakamichi look very subtle i've got one from 8yrs ago and it still works fine
  15. i want to try some 60mm rears, i have a 40mm kit. am i right in thinking you want 60mm fronts?
  16. not long had the 288s put on and mk4 rears. very occasionally i get a grinding noise at low speed from the passenger side front wheel, when it appears if i turn left it gets louder. and a couple of times i've been pulling up slowly to a junction, 15-20mph during very gentle braking like coasting to a stop and the ABS kicks in and pedal goes mad etc but after that i slammed on brakes at 30mph and wheels just locked up and skidded no ABS, lots of tyre smoke ??? can this be all to do with the ABS rings? i didn't have any of that replaced
  17. you could just take the plunger bit out? not sure it achieves much, check it anyway as they break quite easy
  18. i just push lever down to wipe, and let it back up, then when it needs wiping again, push it back down and leave it down
  19. 16a is the rubber bit that goes onto the popper, 17 is the plate it pushes against that fixes to the car i might have a spare rubber bit lying around, if i can still find it lol i can post to you for nothing
  20. i think thats right, am sure the springs holds it up best to get another opinion than mine though....lol
  21. if you have 288mm calipers from a golf, you need the goodridge set for a late golf vr6 1995> i think if you buy the whole 6 line kit you can use all the hoses on a corrado providing you have standard rear calipers
  22. tt wipers viewtopic.php?f=3&t=73982 i didn't actually modify them at all to fit and i'm really impressed with them
