Oh yeah, that's quite important thing to mention

When you disconnect the cams and then turn bottom end to the pulley mark, just cgeck that notch on the intermediate shaft is visible from above like the photo. If not, turn the crank again until and check the intermediate, shouldn't need to take gearbox off. Then do the rest as planned
-
No. It doesn't mean piston/valve contact, but can cause loss of power. Can't remember vinces explanation well enough to explain though
-
It was Vince that told me it does matter so i agreed with him.

Step 21 or 22 on this guide shows the notch that should be visible with just the top cover removed. http://forums.mwerks.com/showthread.php?1264409-DIY-Replacing-timing-chains-tensioners-and-guides-on-a-12v-VR6

The intermediate sprocket has to be correctly timed as well. Is possible to have that 180degrees out which can affect the engine
-
Yeah, the interior is pretty decent as well, There isn't much i don't like about the car.

Picked it up yesterday lunchtime, have done about 100miles so far, really pleased with it, didn't want something that would replace the corrado, but wanted something that wasn't going to give me grief and meaning i have to get the spanners out. Can hopefully concentrate on the corrado now.

Was this sale a while back? Seem to remember a low mileage storm that had a story about a doctor owner?
-
Nice job. Looks tidy.
-
Yeah, i use the plain pagid ones from ECP
-
I wouldn't buy grooved or drilled discs, i bought some before and they went all shuddery quite quickly, fitted normal discs and never had the issue again
-
That was my thinking when i bought a VR, big engine that you can cruise along without over working it.
-
234,000miles on my VR.

The best deal seems to be personal leasing through a 3rd party, £975 down, 3yrs of £166 a month and then give the car back.
-
It would have been £200 a month, the rest of the money you leave as a deposit, which you also don't get back.
-
I looked at PCP, but the numbers didn't seem to add up, would cost quite a bit more for me. Basically about £11k to have the car 3yrs, do 45,000miles and then walk away with nothing or give them another £5k at the end.
-
Brand new the car was £16,600. I bought a 7 month old one with 11k on the clock for £11,500. Couldn't justify buying new and a year later i'd of lost about £5k

That also put me off, the firm ride on the ST, i work in the middle of nowhere so drive down really naff roads each day. I remember you had an ST Jim and everyone with them seems to like them. But i could see me wanting to tune and modify an ST if i had one. Plus i could afford the zetec S to buy outright, the ST i would've borrowed some money and had a monthly bill to pay
-
i get it next tuesday, going to give it a proper machine polish and wax, panther black btw.
-
Almost got an ST2 but thought i'd probably end up preferring it to the corrado  quite impressed with the 1.0

To replace my current 2006 audi A3 2.0tdi. Will still have corrado, but wanted something that will hopefully be hassle free for a few years, cheap to run, but still not any old heap. Decided on a 3 cylinder 1.0 fiesta... Lol. Its not as bad as it sounds, looked at lots of car over the last year and fiesta ticks the boxes, was below budget by about £5k and local. 2016 Zetec S with the 140ps engine. Think it weighs about 1040kgs.

Are the front grill grommets still available? they are a piece of rubber that sit in the slam/front panel. -
Am sure i fitted H&R springs and used late top mounts and plates. I'm going to check.

Tasty. How much is one of them?
