mine is the same, spent ages trying to fix everything and replacing bulbs when doing the matrix and now have less lights than before.

I think the big thing on them is clutch and timing chains. Am sure i read its an expensive job.

I would say the isv valve. mine did that for ages and ended up buying a new isv which sorted it out. Can get them on ebay for around £40.

Few recent pics, given a decent clean, i also waxed it this weekend using dodo juice stuff. Added an S badge to the front grill, (i think i like it) Added a land rover footrest next to clutch pedal and got some stainless sill plates to fit. Will probably leave engine standard. Seems to be loads of modifications available for the car. Must resist spending money on it.

Did the coilpack get wet? Might just be a misfire from some coolant on elecs maybe? Will get lots of steam from exhaust if the cylinder has water in it.

I went through loads of trying to test my isv, swapped it for a used genuine one and still had issues, but i dismissed the isv. I ended up buying an ebay non-genuine one for under £40 and it fixed my issues. All the tests i did on the other two i had suggested nothing was wrong with them.

I'm hoping mine can be salvaged, but thanks for thinking of me. I'll take them to a machine shop in the new year along with my original head and see what they can do with them.

Think i'm just going to give up with it now and forgot the whole episode... "In order to make the product look aesthetically pleasing to the recipient we do paint them as do all of our competitors. It is possible a very small amount overspray could enter coolant galleries but we do not consider it would cause any problems whatsoever. Should there be any overspray in either the inlet or exhaust ports this would eventually burn away, again causing no problems. The flaking paint on the exterior surfaces in the photographs could be the result of something chafing against them and not necessarily the result of a problem with the composition the paint itself. With reference to your comment that I think this has gotten into some oil ways/jets and starved the engine of oil. As you are probably aware the lubrication system of an engine comprises a suction screen and a filtration system, which incidentally Vege did not supply, to prevent any contaminants entering the components you mention. We do not agree that particles of paint can enter oilways or piston cooling jets and has therefore resulted in the problems you are now encountering. We trust to have addressed all of the points you raise and hope you can establish the root cause of the problem."

Saw the wheeler dealers corrado up at stealth racing, looked a nice corrado, althought it was 7ft above me.

Sent an email off to vege about it, not expecting anything from them, but wanted to let them know.

Well the engine i plan to put back in had the tick, so i'll be keeping an ear out for it again.

I think we both have a 1995 Classic green Vr6 as well :lol:

Cheers Rob, i won't be giving up just yet.. Do people think there is anything wrong with taking the valves, springs, etc from that head and putting them into my original head, will get somewhere to skim it and fit the valves guides, but i reckon i can manage the rest. I take it it will just be a case of lapping the valves in? Possibly new lifters?

Yeah, i won't be using the head again, could be paint everywhere. You can feel the scratches in the cams as well.

Went and collected the engine back from Stealth last week, they haven't fixed it, just took it apart and took me about the crank etc, i ended up deciding not to get them to rebuild it as i didn't know what was wrong with it and not wanting to risk it again. Got it home and started looking at bits myself and noticed this paint on the head was flaking off when the timing guide was removed, so rubbed it a bit and the paint just flakes off, am now suspecting this is what caused the oil starvation I didn't notice it was painted before, this head came from VEGE, although i bought if off someone else on here that hadn't ever used it (he did have two of these heads for sale so not sure where the other one is?) Took cams out and the head caps are the cams are all scored quite deeply, so guessing all that is junk as well now :( Just going to fit the engine i took out for now, and will have to go back to standard cams. Will take the 263's to a machine shop to see if they can be salvaged and thinking of taking all the valve gear from the head and putting into another head. Not really sure when, losing the will a little.

There is an airpump for the central locking in the boot, on the right side, behind the carpet. Could be that making the noise.

I bought a new sump from ebay, not oem. Cheaper than vw heritage, not tried it yet but looks just as good as the original.

the rear does has a slotted bit it fits in, so you have to pull it forward iirc

Are they for a late VR6 do you know?

I've been buying the cheap carpet ones on ebay, about £15 and they fit lovely. I did have to add the carpet fixings myself.

I think the first episode wasn't amazing, seemed a bit of an introduction and the three cars were the same ones as they covered on one of the last few episodes of top gear, but have high hopes for the rest of the series.
