VR6 Clutch master cylinder and pedal replacement
Jim Bowen replied to fendervg's topic in Engine Bay
I remember having trouble sourcing a new one for mine. Seems to be one of those strange parts on a corrado. Ended uo getting my original one refurbished by a company called pastparts i think. Came back like new, cost about £105ish -
Hammer and screwdriver, a dremel is good for cleaning up the hole in block afterwards, usually pretty rusty.

I did mine with Dinitrol 4941 https://www.amazon.co.uk/DINITROL-UNDERBODY-CHASSIS-PROOFING-AEROSOL/dp/B00AQZA0QS I did find that it sometimes reacted or didn't like drying on certain patches i'd fixed, so the bits i'd primered i had to paint and then lacquer and then apply the dinitrol. Have tried a few different products/brands over the years and have been most impressed with the dinitrol stuff, they do a clear wax and a cavity wax as well. My car is basically a massive candle now, just hope it never catches fire

Its the bit where the hoover lead recoils into on my electrolux

a few week from now i reckon, not sure what i need for other engine yet as i kind of disregarded it thinking i'd never need it. Hopefully just a few gaskets to buy and that'll be it.
-
Its does seem a long time since i've driven it properly, when i used it last it was running the previous engine in, so didn't really enjoy it much.

Pushed corrado out of garage this morning, giving it a bit of a clean and sorting out garage ready for putting engine in it. Noticed from the dates that its been sat in garage for a year now.

I had a great local dealer, always wanting me to bring the car in, always interested in it, and they were building a mk1 scirocco from a bare shell in the workshop for the directors son. VW closed it a few years back now, i miss it.
-
GSF sell most of them i think, i would go Febi and Lemforder. VW parts just seem a rip off these days

It trim tape, got some of mine off at the moment and trying to clean it all off the back of the strips. Seems to be two lengths of about 8mm tape one above the other.

One way valve in coolant pipe going to throttle housing
Jim Bowen replied to jekel's topic in Engine Bay
I fitted the same as Jim to mine a few years back, i just noticed someone mention it on the forum and thought i'd better fit something, Did seem to stop the running water sound behind dash. -
One way valve in coolant pipe going to throttle housing

I assumed it was because the matrix was quite high up in the system, so it stopped the coolant draining back out of it, but i'm kinda guessing. -
Please help! VR6 matrix feed hose Pressure Reducer from VW recall
Jim Bowen replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Engine Bay
Looking at this also, its states the build start date and end date, from 1988-1989, so i wonder if it was the mk2 golf matrix that caused the issue and they quickly revised the design for subsequent corrados. http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/searches/expand.asp?uniqueID=73C95657E15E3F8680256BB90026924F&freeText=Blank&tx= -

Found this, wonder if its similar, seems to be a small diameter. http://www.stevensvwspares.com/vw-golf-breather-water-pipes/heater-matrix-recall-units#specifications -
About 75 degrees is when the idle switches over from the isv iirc and then uses info from the ECU to set idle.. Am sure i remember being told that. Mine would idle dodgy until it hit that temp, bought a brand new ISV and that fixed it, had cleaned and tested original isv and also bought a 2nd hand one, but they didn't change anything. Not sure it will be your ISV, but you can get cheap ones for under £40.

I like SGS Stuff, was looking at getting a compressor from there at some point. Bought two jack, axle stand and other bits from them and been happy with it all.

Magnex exhausts came with their own custom rear hanger that was different to the original, most don't seem to include that so maybe someone has modified the exhaust to work with the factory hanger. There was a chap on here that made them out of stainless steel

Prefer my 230,000mile example tbh

I get this a lot, but not for all day long. For a while kids would leave their scooters, bikes etc on the dropped kerb to my drive. Got fed up moving stuff so ran things over one time, abd another time i picked their stuff up and gave it away to a work colleagues kids. Doesn't happen anymore.

30years in actual fact. Time flies..

I bought some a long time ago, only really needed them once to take the standard length springs off, all the other swapping of springs i've done since, i manage to just push the spring down by hand and then undo the nut.

I spoke to Vince at stealth about similar and he said something about changing the pulley size on the pump, i wasn't sure how it would work with a the standard belt length though.
