    Crack pipe

its just called a "cooling tube" on the diagrams i looked at. not sure about 12v vs 24v differences though
  2. i'm still on the lookout for a decent set of speedlines, just wary of buying damaged or dodgy ones these days.
  3. totally agree, its so impressive but not worth it
  4. very well put indeed. 8) i have always kinda doubted them which is why i'm still using a standard box with paper filter. i think i'll stick with that and forget the aftermarket filter idea again
  5. btw, i bought the weitec springs and shocks kit, then couple of weeks later took the springs off and swapped them for Pi springs as these were the only ones i could find that worked with late spring caps, (which i felt were a much better arrangement than early caps with late mounts), also cured noisy steering when parking. anyway the ride is pretty harsh, only lowered 40mm, but i think you get what you pay for really, if they were really good, people wouldn't spend twice or three times as much on suspension :)
  6. wow, nice corrado, looks a really good purchase i got used to my orange rears now, doesn't look too bad imo 8)
  7. when i did mine i didn't drain the coolant, just undid the hose, fitted new one and then ran everything with cap off to get rid of any air i use G12+, but be careful as i'm sure your not meant to mix it with other brands of coolant
  8. i know cheesewire, its like a never ending debate with no real answers, so i'm not sure whether to spend £160-£200 on something for a bit more noise (although i kinda want that) from what i understand the pipercross vis kits have a filter that sit nearer the front/bottom of car bumper, but they don't list one for the corrado
  9. i'm still not sure what to get, whether to stick with standard or not, here's some comments i've received on the subject "Cotton-gauze will ALWAYS perform well when new - they're often replacing a shitty used paper filter and a new foam filter is more restrictive than a new cotton-gauze filter (up until approx 500-1,000 miles). A filter should do two things - protect the engine and flow air. A cotton-gauze cannot do both for a long time due to it becoming clogged. With cotton-gauze the only place for dirt to be trapped is on the surface, with a foam filter dirt is trapped throughout the filter, hence it's greatly increased life before cleaning. A clogged filter is starving the engine of air and you might as well just stick with a paper filter for the amount of good it will be doing. The best design for a fast road car involves getting air from an area of high pressure. The only true way to do this is to extend the air intake out beyond the front of the vehicle but a good alternative is to fit a Viper or CDA, better still, turn it all around and put the filter in an area of high pressure and have an airbox full of clean filtered air - which is what you get with Carbonio/VIS kits. The downside of a Carbonio kit over a Pipercross VIS is that the filter they use (cotton-gauze) isn't suitable for areas of high pressure which are typically areas of increased dirt. K&N even supply pre-filters for their air filters in the US, yet other companies that use their products don't bother! That's engine protection out of the window from the start. There's so much research into air intake design, fitting a universal BMC is ludicrous. You're not a silly Jim so I can't understand why you're falling for it time and time again The VIS kit is such a good solution both for performance, looks and sound." & "Most views are based on what people read on forums and what they've bought, that's not fact. My views are based on tests I've carried out and results I have seen (including independant) whilst under the employment of Pipercross. Other foam filters (ITG, TrueFlow, Unifilter, etc) are equally as good but they don't make intakes for the VR6. I'd fit the VIS kit without a second thought. I fitted one to a mates VR6 and it was nothing but grins all round." anyone think much of this?
  10. literally got my car back on road about 15mins ago. still not quite right tho :( anyway here are the pics, not very special really, but gives you an idea of how little you see of the samcos this is how is was before, so an improvement i feel
  11. yes, VW sell the steering gear grease that you need. worth redoing that
  12. you should just be able to undo the track rod end where it connect to the wheel end (hub?) then it slides over the whole thing. i just cable tied mine on, as the metal clips were useless
  13. all these sort of parts are getting old now. Its not a sign the car is crap or badly looked after, they just get old imo i've had that pipe burst, the thermostat housing crack apart and the radiator burst in the last few months...
  14. do they list a WALLACE to go with that?
  15. just came in from putting car back together as i'm stuck on foglights at the front there are two wires coming from car, one has a black plastic female connector the other a metal spade female connector, but they both fit both male parts on fog light and i can't remember which way round they go one wire from car is brown maybe i should get a pic, might just leave them undone for now
  16. i find scratch x good, but only worth doing on small areas at a time, you'll be there for weeks trying to do whole car. really work it in, but in don't push hard, just take my time going in all directions and breaking the product down. Wipe off and repeat a few times, then i would try autogylm super resin polish a few times as well.... Some times that can make a nice difference after scratch x. don't expect miracles tho, at the end of the day your just rubbing paint with a cloth and some cream of sorts
  17. unfortunately i haven't made any plans for Stanford as i didn't know how long it would be off road for :( but now looks like i will have it back on road after tonight, as long as i've done everything properly  yeah, does seem a shame to break the history but i'm starting to think its not going to matter anymore, its done 160,000, i can see me owning it till at least 200,000 maybe more, and in that time am sure i'll have some big receipts for engine work which would probably deem the old service history a bit useless. especially if they not actually doing anything each time i ask for a service :! which i really hope isn't the case.
  18. i reckon something fell off mine while doing it, as i shut bonnet it didn't sound right, and was exactly that bits i was unsure of. felt too metalic on contact with bonnet if you know what i mean
  19. did you remove old wheels first?
  20. i know, i really want one now  just spent a small fortune on car and realised its not going to be any different to drive :( i at least want one thing to of changed :)
  21. when i looked at mine i could see traces of g12 crusty pink pie around the base of it, not sure if its working or not? is about the only part i've not renewed
  22. i can get pics yes i'll get some tonight as i almost finished putting car back together now :D
  23. i bought a product called "engine laquer" from Autobrite, it brings up plastics like new. i think it actual coats them with a layer, like a laquer
  24. i was trying to tidy mine up too, but got fed up pretty quickly. you can get covers that go over the tops of suspension struts, look much better with them i have the same jumble of AC stuff and it looks like crap, almost considering ditching the whole AC setup as it just rammed in Bonnet latch thing, i'd like to know if bits are missing as mine seems/feels different when shutting bonnet now, after i've removed and replaced all that, might of lost a bit i cleaned manifold up with a dremel, comes up well but still alot of effort. just fitted black samcos and a bit disappointed at how much different they don't look , can't really tell, there's so many other black pipes and hoses that look crap still
