Can only help make the corrado even cooler, a 2dr VW coupe. That sort of thing won't exist in 5-10yrs from now. I remember feeling cheated when they put a diesel engine in the Audi TT. I think if you have a car like that you should commit to using lots of fuel
-
Checked it out and definitely 021 105 243D, which is what the parts diagram tells me is correct. Just odd that it looks different to the other two i have

Its going to be a beauty, really need to get mine resprayed at some point, always seems something else to sort first.
-
Yeah, it seems it been sorted somehow.
-
Not sure if this is sign of something wrong, one is different color slightly The connector directly below it has a grey white residue in it Seems very slightly deformed where is meets the body of coilpack. Slightly dipped I wonder if its shorting out between those two points
-
Just been out again and was fine for about 10mins and then started the misfiring and popping. Think i can see some damage on the coilpack, was too hot to pull the lead off so will check that tomorrow. Looks as if one of the lead connections that come off it has melted around the base. Definitely looks different to the other 5.
-
Yeah they have been untouched for ages

I can dig out an old block with a pulley on it that I'm used to seeing. Will check measurements etc incase it's a different offset or something
-
Will do vagcom tomorrow night.

Just went out in corrado, ran fine, filled up with fuel and then about 5miles after that i got a misfire that just got worse and worse. Any sort of acceleration and it was popping and banging like mad and no power and strong catalytic converter smell. Managed to get the 15miles back home, but very nearly stopped and called AA as it was nearly undriveable. Literally 500 meters from home it seemed to clear up. The fuel may be coincidence, my first thoughts were coilpack, but had that before and never misfired that bad. About to change the engine and also go obd2 but would like to find the fault and fix that first
-
Cheers for the info btw

I'll check again, but pretty sure it got a D at the end
-
I don't need 5dr's, Don't really need back seats tbh. I'm not sure i could have a 5dr car. Not sure what cars to consider, none of the audis appeal to me

Yeah i think that is the number, do you think it's correct? Looks a bit different to the other two i have. Has a raised lip on the external face of it
-
Is this it, still in the pulley

I had the timing chain covers blasted on my engine and didn't do anything with them, just bolted them on and they soon get the white fuzz on them. Am about to have my inlet manifold done and was planning to just spray it silver, but noticed the place i go to does enamel coatings, not sure how it looks yet though. Did you have the throttle body done? Looks mint, i take it they can do that safely without masking off the plastic bits

I've run out of room, got 4 vr lumps in the garage at the moment
-
Anyone got a pic of this woodruff key? Not something I've seen before and about to fit my crank pulley and just by chance noticed mention of it.
-
Can they be tapped in with a hammer? I have some new housing and bearings and not gotten round to taking them to a garage to get them pressed in. Would rather do it myself though
-
Won't the bearing expand as it heats up. Can't say I've encountered this issue and my hubs are the 230,000mile originals

A few pics Bit of rust on top of one cylinder, (luckily its not a part that comes into contact with piston) Am thinking if i take head apart i shouldn't need to renew anything? I've got spare valve seals from a gasket kit i bought in the past. Will i need any kind of lubes for assembling it?
-
Got a Borescope and looked inside the new engine, find a bit more rust on an exhaust valve, will probably be fine but i think for peace of mind I'm going to take the head off and take valves out to clean them up. Already have some arp studs and a head gasket so not really going to cost me anything and means i get to use the arps rather than have them sat in a box

Was thinking of getting a polo gti, but seems they don't do a 3dr version. Do they make any 3dr polos now?
