  1. Have decided to convert to OBD2 as well now, Bought an engine loom so far, just need to find out all the other bits i need.

    2.9 engine

The engine running in mine at the moment will be coming out around xmas time and I'll be wanting rid of it. Not sure how long you got. Runs fine but uses a bit of oil and the head is tappy. I reckon the head will need a rebuild. Was told its a 2.9 when i bought it and have a receipt from stealth that says it was a corrado engine. I could take the head off and measure the cylinder bores and see the general condition of it.

Does it go straight on a VR? or will i need any other bits. How come you are selling it?
  4. I know i keep posting this link, but these engines popped up a while ago and i bought one, works out much cheaper than any other option imo https://cabmasters.com/miscellaneous/vw-vr6-engine Not sure how many he has left. They are actually an AFP code engine, so have a few head differences, mainly the cams (so i am going to fit some schimmel 263 cams (trying to set up a bit of a group buy with Vince, or at least show him a few people are interested and he will stock up on them) INA seem to be a reasonable lifter set. But with the above engine i posted you get everything and none of it is worn. Just an oil pump on its own cost me about £220 last time.
  5. A big chunk will be just buying the pistons
  6. I just bought myself one of these https://cabmasters.com/miscellaneous/vw-vr6-engine Its a 2.8, but will be using the corrado inlet and fitting some schimmel cams, so probably more or less the same as an ABV. I've since found out its actually an AFP engine, not an AAA, so it hasn't got the right cams, cams sprockets and cam trigger, plus there is an EGR valve hole in the head which needs blanking. Seemed to me to be the best cheapest option, Just paying Vince to build my bottom end cost me £850
  7. At the moment i only asked about supplying them as i'd fit my own. Tjinny: I can't think of any extra parts required. Probably some lube to fit them. I guess it depends on your engine etc, might be worth checking out timing chain tensioners and renewing rocker cover gasket.
  8. Mine is all as normal, i am guessing you tried turning it off and back on again
  9. Hi Rob Not sure what you mean there? Do you have a TSR head?
  10. Are there different ones for the golf/corrado? Just bought a new one and it looks different to the one on engine, the one i have just bought has a lip on the front face (where the rubber sits) am sure the one on car is more flush.
  11. I'm wanting to buy some schimmel 263 VR6 Cams. Just spoke to Vince @ Stealth and he doesn't have any in stock at the moment. But if a few people want some he will order them in, not sure on cost yet until he has a number of how many want them. So does anyone else want some at the moment?
  12. It's good to slow down. Means people get a longer look at the stunning lines of a corrado and longer to contemplate how awesome the driver is for not settling for a new white goods car on finance.
  13. Strangely work have just bought me Google sketchup and are going to buy a 3d printer as well. So I've been having the same thoughts this week. Scuttle clips instantly came to mind. I have some if required. Not sure on the capabilities of 3d printers but they are quite a complex clip imo. Not sure when I'll get the printer but could always try and produce a 3d drawing of one. Happy to send you a clip if you fancy a go as well. Been thinking about your corrado woes recently Jim, That tappy noise. I think I've finally decided its valve springs to blame.
  14. Must have taken a full tubs of filler
  15. I think next time I'll get them done by a professional.
  16. I find whatever i use it seems to rust up again, stripped & painted my front calipers 3 times now. Used a kit by POR15 last time and its still rusted back up, i followed the instructions religiously and cleaned every speck of rust off, so feck knows what i'm doing wrong.
  17. And there was me hoping it was going to be up for sale. Amazing work so far.

    Nige vr

Was there a dirty old floor mat half hanging out the window and flapping about in the wind?
  19. Same here, so that's at least 2
  20. Didn't know that, will ring them tomorrow. Ta.
  21. Any experience of them, tempted to just get something along those lines, think my new engine is an AFP as you mentioned and it appears they have different cams so i have to buy some cams whatever happens, seems a wasted opportunity if i just buy standard
  22. Thanks for reply. Have you had it mapped?
  23. Was looking at buying some schimmels 263's from US, But by the time i add a few other bits, Their water pump and oil filter housing i'm quickly up to over £1k, plus probably have to wait a while. I notice VW heritage sell these autotech cams (recommends better valve springs, which the schimmels don't) https://www.vwheritage.com/wc109at10109460k-autotech-262-hydraulic-camshaft-vr6-vw-spare Or there are Piper Cams (quite pricey) https://oemandmore.co.uk/camshaft--kits-by-piper-cams-28-vr6-fast-road-5325-p.asp Not sure what route to go down, any other options?
  24. Oh dear, do you think it might have been the top tensioner going that caused the guides to fall apart, looks a bit worn
  25. I stuck mine on with double sided foam, seems a better fit now.
