Interesting. Just had a quick google and one person suggests the whole camshafts are different. Would i be best putting my own cams in. Or i could fit some performance ones if i made my mind up
-
I hope so  think I'm going to get a gearbox rebuilt as well as I'm sure that making noises now...

May just do that before i fit the crank pulley, don't fancy having to take that off in the future. Cam sensor was a good shout, totally different and single chain/sprockets too, so timing covers need to come off anyway, the chain tensioner is the old style so will have to change that too. Do these pics work? Cams look like they have never turned to me Found some corrosion on the valve, sprayed some penetrating fluid in there and most of it came off, left fluid soaking in there overnight so will clean it out tomorrow. Hoping i can get away without taking head off etc,

Its from MiWitness, does take a little card, You have to put it in pc to change settings etc

My wiring runs from the back of the headunit, along inside of dash over glovebox and up the A-pillar then under headlining to the rear view mirror and also down the side of roof to the rear camera. I leave mine in the car as it has a parking mode where it will detect movement and record for 20secs, so if someone drives into your car you can see who.

Must've been remanufactured by vw then, to have the stickers and etchings on it.

I hope so, i like to think i'm starting at 0 miles with no worry of anything not normally replaced in a rebuild being worn.
-
Did the chap selling them say that? I did wonder, but looking at the engine, the block seems to have all the original finish and markings on it and i can't see any signs of any corrosion that you normally get on the head, especially where the thermo housing bolts on and every bolt and clip looks new as well. Either way as you say a good price when you start adding up all the individual parts and money you would have to spend having things cleaned and coated

Just debating what i remove if anything before i fit it. Will swap the cam cover for my metal one, am wondering what chain tensioner it has, the old style or the newer one. But all the covers seem well sealed. I noticed the sump is fitting using sealant and not a gasket. Need to try and get a crank pulley, struggling to take one of the old block. Ordered a new bolt for it already. Might just buy another pulley.

They do still have some

Got my new engine yesterday, Its a 2.8, but new and unused stock (just been hiding away in a warehouse for a few years. Seemed a good option for me, figured i could run it in and then look at fitting some cams or a charger/turbo in the future. Came with everything, even spark plugs, i just need to fit a crank pulley.

Nice to hear, mine is rather clunky and must be the only part i haven't changed yet.

I always think the road tax is one of the cheapest bills in corrado ownership  Makes me feel better
-
Do they do anything to the insides of the rack or just the replace seals? I've been wanting to do something with my steering rack for ages now as its covered 230,000miles Can't find new genuine ones for sale, i did start to wonder if a rack from another car may fit

Took this off my car when i upgraded the fans, about 3yrs ago i cleaned it up and put some primer on it to stop it rusting in storage. Will need a rub down and some coats of paint Looking for £60, can be collected from CM62LX or CB114RT
-
Yes made sense to me, i think the last engine the oil pump cost me about £230 and the timing gear is at least £200, add a set of lifters and a few gaskets and its almost the same money as this engine
-
Mine has arrived, not had a chance to unpack it yet though. But i'm quite excited
-
Am pretty sure they are corrado specific, but someone may correct me on that.
-
An ebayer came round today to pick up a pressure washer, he noticed corrado and loved it, i couldn't resist opening the door to show him the black leather recaros, always amazes how the original leather still looks great after 230,000miles.

Nah, no smells, that is a little worrying Is the alternator wiring ok? I'd also check starter motor too, see if anything shorted out, might be signs of something burnt.
-
I've had things like this in the past, like a back fire that seems to come out the air filter.
-
Be careful playing with HT leads with engine running, you can get shocked by them
-
Its quite simple, you need to remove the black engine cover and disconnect the ht leads and the connector to the coilpack. If it were in the haynes manual i'd rate it as a 1 spanner job
