Yeh that's because they look like RX's/RC's but probably weigh twice as much!

What's a gunsons?
-
Sounds like a great idea but I think i'm actually working sunday night. Gould go down there for lunch though?
-
Bled my system yesterday (with ABS), one word... Nightmare. And it's still not quite there...
-
Punyroyals...

lj16v, (& VRTrickster) All of the brake stuff was supplied by heliosjim except for the discs which I got from GSF I paid about £300 for the lot + £50 for the new solid lines. They came already painted red which is good because I wanted to do them red anyway to match my rear lights. Thanks for the nice words, always good to get some complements especially when your forking out money all the time and spending every waking hour crawling around underneath the bloody thing! :)

Aye, I was going to ask you about that - thanks for offering! Re-test is on Monday (I think) so i'll maybe pop over Sunday night? Pretty sure I saw your missus driving around in your new C in the Newquay area on Sunday afternoon/evening...? Err yeh it's pretty bad. It failed on that because the passenger seatbelt needs something secure to bolt onto etc. Just got back from the bodyshop actually. Car will be there until friday getting the dent(s) sorted in the passenger door and having the door sprayed as well as the rear quater. Then he will do the sill. He basically said I could have a new sill fitted etc. but it would cost a small fortune or he could patch the old one up for a lot less. Really can't afford the £450 just in labour for a new sill so i've gone with the patch job... :( Finally finished doing the brakes yesterday.... New solid lines throughout All 6 rubber hoses replaced with goodrich braided hoses 288mm brembo max discs mk3 front calipers pagid FR pads mk4 rear calipers with brembo discs New handbrake cables Took longer than expected but I reckon I could do it a lot faster next time. Bleeding the brakes was a drawn out nightmare and i'm still not completely happy with the pedal feel but really need the new brakes o bed in before I can judge it properly. So just the ball joint left to do now and 1 new tyre (gone with uniroyal rainsports this time) and she should pass with flying (freshly painted) colours!

Looks like the screw hole bit may have snapped off yours. It literally just goes between the back of the drivers side headlight and the airbox.
-
Good stuff, look forward to that...
-
Yup i've got the complete goodridge hose set going on as well :) Also fitted new handbrake cables.

They are a complete and utter joke, I'm letting the garage sort it out... Update: Would have finished the brakes yesterday but unfortunately the some of the pipes I had made up have the wrong connectors on them. The old ones have a non-tapered section on them at the start which is about 5mm long. The new ones i've been given are tapered right from the start and so don't screw in as far. The fully tapered fittings are fine for connection to hoses but when the pipes connect to the little box thing at the rear they are not not screwing in far enough... :x Garage is closed for the weekend so i'm going to have to get them to sort it out on Monday and then i'll get back on it on Tuesday and hopefully finish up... Car is booked in the bodyshop on Wednesday so it needs to be done!!

Get this. Had another go today at the rear carriers and actually snapped my hex key! Halfords professional tool snapped! (Lucky I get a free replacement!).
-
I just can't believe that a bolt which requires so much force is a frickin hex key?! Un...believable.
-
Where are you staying? I reccommend you get it over to RK Engineering in St Agnes, they'll sort it out for you.
-
Yup all older cars will have problems, some are more luckier than others. It was my 1 year anniversary of buying my C on Tuesday and in that year i've spent about 2.5-3k, worth it though because I love my car!
-
Do you mean these? I think the allen bolt on the rear carrier is round anyway so surely they wont be any use?
-
Are they any use for this allen bolt on the rear carrier though? Managed to fit the front 288s this afternoon, all went on quite easily apart from I had a brake pipe casualty on the nearside. Not a problem though as I took it and all the old rear pipes to the garage and I now have a complete set of copper pipes made up ready to go on tomorrow! The caliper carrier bolts on the front came off quite easily, god knows why they put the allen bolts on the back...
-
Cool looking car, I like the GB sticker on the back... :)
-
It's really annoying that the stupid carriers are stopping me from doing the rest of the job :( Jay, fancy coming down and sorting them out? ;)
-
I got mine from http://www.speeding.co.uk not sure how much. Highly reccommend it, good stuff and does match the bottom. I gave the bottom of mine 1 coat though to match it better - the bottoms did pass the MOT still.
-
Well i've managed to remove all the pipes from the engine bay back to the calipers. All the hoses off as well. Some of it was a real nightmare, had to take the exhaust heatshield off to get one of the pipes out.. :x Anyway, i'm having new ones made up hopefully by tomorrow so I can whack them on. Biggest problem i've had is trying to remove the rear caliper carriers, they have a hex bolt and all 4 (both sides) are not budging an inch. So it's looking like i'm going to have to refit the old brakes and drive it over to the garage so they can have a go... Haven't even looked at the front ones yet... :(
-
Doing mine at the moment as well. + I'm putting mk4 calipers on the rear & 288mm setup on the front. I've allowed myself today (not achieved much) tomorrow and saturday... No idea what i'm doing really so any input would be great, i've done searches but not really come up with anything useful. First major problem, one of my wheel nuts is on ridiculously tight and I can't get it off! Also loads of the hose to pipe fittings are rusted right up and proving to be a nightmare to get off. Ah well, i'll report back tomorrow after i've got the pipes all off.
-
I feel like having a go at somehting myself! Got my plumber mate round as well - looks a bit like plumbing to me! :)
-
I've done mine, check out the Wiki article which I made whilst doing it. Should warn you though - I just failed my MOT because they don't flash orange enough... :(

Greeny, make sure you look at my members gallery thread for the full OBD2 lowdown. I did it because my ECU was knackered anyway. Parts were free really after you sell the parts that come off so you're just paing for labour. Idle is sooo much better, never stalls. Oh and then there's the fuel economy.... :)
