  1. OK, cool. It's not that clear from the site though as it says "Fast Road Pads" then below that "PAGID RS' MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS", implying (to me at least) that the said pads are made from the said RS material :? FR it is then, thanks for clearing that up... Dutch
  2. From what I can figure from this site Pagid use 6 different compounds in the FR pads: http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/frame- ... -discs.htm ...unless the FR ones don't use the RS material? I've currently got EBC RedStuff and have had 2 sets over the last 4 years and can't fault them. No initial bite problems when cold either before it’s mentioned, but EBC now use new compounds across they're range and they're not getting good reviews over here anymore. Which Pagid pads do GSF sell from the list in the above link then? Dutch
  3. Mate recommended these as a good upgrade over the OEM VR ones, so I did a search and found quiet alot of info, but most of it negative :( Apparently the pistons are of a different size and the smaller one should grab the disk first, but when mounted on the C they sit in such a way that the larger piston grabs first causing uneven pad wear? :? I mentioned this and he said you can simply mount them on the wrong side, i.e. left caliper on the right wheel and right caliper on the left wheel. The smaller piston then grabs first as it should. His mate has them fitted like this to his C with no other modifications and reckons they're the dogs !? Anyone tried this and can confirm it works?? He's going to find out what pads he's using too as they use the full surface area of the OEM VR disks, without the 4-5mm gap I've seen mentioned by others that have tried them (due to the s2 disks being 276 mm) Dutch
  4. Thanks mate. I did have a look on the net but there are about 5 different compounds for the FR's and wasn't sure what one's were best suited to the VR. I chose the 'Blue' ones and got a price of 129 quid?? I have searched but can some tell me quickly what the best Pagid pad is for the VR? Also what mintex pad is best? ...and are the prices quoted for a pair or a single pad? Dutch
  5. Sorry to jump in here, but I need new pads and have been told to get them in the UK as they'll be cheaper than buying here? So, anyone who's bought some recently - how much is a set of Pagid Fast Road pads and OEM pads from the stealer gonna cost in the UK (front only running on standard sized Zimmerman drilled discs btw) Dutch
  6. 24v is much less work to fit into a VR6 C than the 20vt apparently, and the engines are also cheaper too. Dutch
  7. There will be a 'Dutch24v' thread coming soon as I will be sticking the 24v lump into the VR as soon as weather permits :D As I'm attempting this myself plenty of pics and how-not-to's will be posted there 8) Dutch
  8. Sounds like it could be a plug to me. I've just replaced plug 6 due to the exact same symptoms. Once the engine is reving over 2500-3000 rpm it's not as noticable, but below that on load big hesitations. I have to change plug 6 every 10000km's or so due to a knackered engine and the symptoms you describe match those to when as the plug is just starting to fail. Dutch
  9. ...and out of the way of the 2.8   :) Dutch
  10. Cheers Jay. Just curious how you did the air box and the expansion tanks really. I see you also have a K&N, so are you using the K&N ducting to get cool air or have you fabricated something yourself? Dutch
  11. 24V Renshaw, That is a nice ideal I'd like to get too one day as I don't trust mechanics for some reason. Not had a problem in th Uk per say, but when a Dutch monkey realises you're foreign they think they can screw you over, which is just added hassle as you then have to explain to them they're talking shite, which usually results in some stronger verbal exchanges :? I'm going to be ripping the ABV out myself and attempt to fit the 24v too. I've just bought a 1-ton engine crane and load balancing thingy so It shouldnt be too bad, but I'm going to have to get the DP made :( Don't suppose you've got some pictures of yours before you fitted it to give me an idea of what's involved? Don't suppose you could PM some nice engine bay shots too as I'm curious how you've done your install comapared to Stans, and I can't seemt to find many shots of your bay! Dutch
  12. Nice one, cheers Stan. When you said custom code I didn't realise that was the name, just thought you'd had a custom remap done  24V Renshaw, I didn't realise you made the DP too. Good stuff!! I will figure something out so no worries. Dutch

    hot oil !!

...sorry, didn't read that bit  Could just be a dead oil temp sensor? It could be the timing, but on a VR I doubt it's out unless your chains have slipped, which I think you'd know about? Have you VAG-COM'd it? Dutch

    20vt

Sorry  ...I've become Eurofied

    20vt

A friend who's fitted his C with the above was saying he felt it was down on power and may need some attention. He's just had it dynoed and it's producing a very healthy 305bhp and 435Nm(@3200rpm) torque  435Nm is ALOT isn't it, especially at that rpm? How much are other 20vt's C's producing out of interest?? The 24v lump *only* produces 265Nm@3200 :( I've driven this car and it is an absolute beast though. Very hard to keep in a straight line on full throttle, but huge fun all the same. He was shocked as he really thought it was down on power, but guess you get used to anything after a while! Dutch
  16. Who made yours then Jay and roughly how long ago was it made? Dutch

    hot oil !!

In my limited knowledge I can't see how it could be a sensor? Sounds like a blockage or the pump's dead. Is there any contamination of the coolant? ...and it I can't believe no ones noticed she's a she!!! Normally speaking this thread would have well over 100 replies by now  Dutch
  18. That's what I was thinking - he would need the car, which is not possible. Stan, do you have any more info. on the chip he's fitted to yours, like the manufacture etc.? Surely yours wont have bank selective fuelling though as both banks' gases and lambdas are combined into the one flow and no longer monitored seperately from each other? Jay, as you've mounted yours on VR mounts and used the 4Motion twin CATS my DP would need to be exactly the same as yours wouldn't it? Like I said I know of a company that can make one up over here if needed so not a major problem if I can't get one pre-made so to speak. Dutch
  19. LOL, no cue mate, ...but now you come ot mention it :) How does the 4motion DP not fit the C btw? Does it sit too far to the left or right when looking from the front of the car? ...or is it too high/low or a bit of both?? Dutch
  20. Stan 24v, I'm not sure if he will be able to help me or not as you have kept the single VR CAT if I read your posts correctly? I will be fitting the twin 4Motion CATS along with all 4 lambda probes, but if he can make a DP to fit those then I'm defo interested? I can't wait now as the conversion sounds fantastic. I was planning to wait until Spring to fit the 24v, but think I'm going to start as soon as I have the engine now!! Bring it on.... Dutch
  21. R32 engine, ECU, loom, gearbox etc etc went for £1800 on ebay yesterday  Dutch
  22. Not sure what he wants for it now it's back to OE tbh, and he's sold everything else afaik. Dutch
  23. Yep, he still has it although it's back to OE now and parked up for the winter. He's prepared to wait for the right price/enthusiast to buy, which is what the car deserves imo. Dutch
  24. Looks very tidy mate. Do you know what it dynoed at in the end? Dutch
