  1. Kev, they fit the sports on the 911's etc. & premiums on the Cayenne. The RS4 and others may wear different tyres when new, but once serviced or MOT'd by this place they get Conti Sports. Dutch
  2. Krazee, The 02M box does have stronger internals, but the 02A can handle the 24v no problem, so it's just easier to stick with it. All the supercharged VR lads are still using the 02A box and have no problems afaik. Don't think we got a FWD 24v Golf over here, but I'm sure there were other FWD 24v VW models, just not sure what though? Dutch
  3. I paid 120 euro's per corner, fitted & balanced etc. (on 15" speedlines) My mate works at a large VAG garage that has all the marks under one huge roof - VW, Audi, Seat, Porsche. The ONLY tyres they fit as standard accross the Audi and Porsche range are Continentals Premium's and Sports. I figured if they were good enough for ALL the porsches they sell/service/mot, then they must be good on the C, and they are!! As Potenza's are no longer available these make a very good replacement. Dutch
  4. Had to get some new tyres as the APK (MOT) is due. 12 months ago I had Bridgestone Potenza S03's fitted all-round and the front ones are now shot (33500 km's later though). As Potenza's are no longer available was forced to try something different. Mate (VAG mechanic) recomended some Continental ContiPremiumContact 2's (for the standard 15" speedlines btw) and I must say they are bloody excellent. Very smooth ride and stunning grip wet and dry. They have massive grooves for water that you can fit your finger in  They should last longer than the Michelin Pilot Exalto's too apparently so will see. Highly recomended anyhow. Dutch
  5. I've been thinking about this too Stan. My VR has cooling ducting built in below the headlamp on the otherside of the standard airbox. (LHD drivers side headlight) This intake ducting feeds into a 2 inch diameter pipe that feeds the air back to my exhaust manifold for cooling. I think I'm going to mount the 4motion airbox where the windscreen wash reserviour is and then feed this ducting into the front of it, thus getting a nice cool feed of air the same way as the standard airbox does. Not usre if your car has this ducting and pipework though as it's not an all VR's for some reason, but it is all available from the stealers still iirc. Dutch
  6. Mine goes up at 90 kp/h and it definately makes the rear-end feel more planted. Dutch
  7. Can't wait to see the finished product mate. Looking good so far! As soon as my engine's here I think I'm going to get started too :) Excellent news. He's going to make 2 of them? Dutch
  8. Blue temp. sender is the middle one and tells the ecu the engine temp. for fuelling etc. It doesn't control any cooling or display guages either. Dutch
  9. Ahh, but this is the definitive guide, not the concise guide! ...and quoting you and jay here Phat: "You need to modify the front mount bracket slightly to clear the oil cooler, but basically it fits on the VR mounts" "You will have to mod the front engine mount to lower the front of the block a touch (not on the R32) and remove one of the brace bars under the bonnet if you want the proper cover on and..." "all you have to do is fit a small collar between the gerabox and mount where the top bolt goes" "oil cooler. it was in the way of the engine mount bracket..." So I was just clarifying these contradictions to "It fits on the VR mounts without a problem" :) Dutch
  10. Thought so but just checking! Cheers, Dutch
  11. Ahh, OK. My misunderstanding somewhere then. Kewl, liking the sound of that. One thing I've been wondering - does the R32 intake fit on the 24v? I presume not otherwise you'd have fitted one yourself surely? Dutch
  12. Jay, but I thought you said somewhere that a smaller collar is needed on the gearbox mount and the front mount needs lowering a little? Dutch
  13. Stan, wicked news, thanks mate!! So he's going to mount it on VR mounts too then? Can you let us know how he gets on with that please? Cheers again mate, Dutch
  14. Stan, can you also ask if he had any issues with mounting her properly on the VR mounts, and if so what and how he got around them? Another thing I've just thought of, will I be able to use VAG-COM when she's wired up?? Do I have to wire the connectors to the new ECU, or is that just going to work as the loom has already been adapted for the C?? Dutch
  15. Coxy, very impressive, but way too much work for me. ...I haven't even used a soldering iron since school mate, let alone weld stuff  Think I'm going to mount the 24v on new VR gearbox and rear mounts with a VT front mount, then get the DP made and use the existing VR cooling pipes etc. Then as I understand it I only need to use a smaller coller on the gearbox mount and lower the front mount somehow, or something like that! :) Dutch
  16. Not being funny but check all the pulleys on your aux. belt by releasing the tension and turning each by hand. I had the exact same symptoms and it was 80% fixed by a new MAF, and the other 20% came when I replaced the water pump too. Until the water pump was replaced she would still hunt on startup and sometimes stall when cruising to a stop with clutch in. If my water pump wasn't shagged the MAF would have fixed it totally, but because the resistance on the aux. belt was so high it created idle and stalling problems at low rpm (no torque to combat the resistance I think) Dutch
  17. ...so long as the appreciation remains it's OK then I guess!
  18. rmn, Good point on the DP. Yes mine is LHD too. The part that puts me off is having to get it trailored to a shop so they can make the damn thing. If I could get one fabricated before I fit the engine that would be perfect. So, anyone got pics. of the 2 DP's?? Dutch
  19. Yeah I'm tending to favour the cheaper and easier option it the moment! I know of a guy/company localish to me that made the DP for my mates 20vt C conversion too, and he's well happy with the quality/workmanship so may as well go the simple route, for now! The guy at the company selling the gearbox kits reckons they have alot of 24v conversions using the 02A gearbox developing problems, as they say it can't handle the extra torque? I didn't believe this either!! :) Cheers, Dutch
