    Air Con???

Apparently not :) I saw a test of 2 identical cars go round a test track at the same speed, with the same fuel loads One had aircon turned on, the other had his window down. The aircon cooled car ran out of petrol about 30miles before the other one This was on Mythbusters on Discovery  Still, I'd rather have aircon on a hot stuffy day! But days like these are rare in the UK
  5. I bet he didn't have any insurance
  6. What about a fully specced Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo? Not to everyone's tastes, but they've got around 220bhp as standard and can be chipped to 250+ They're dirt cheap nowadays Or how about something Japanese?
  7. Hi It is usually the top guide rail that wears down, so in a way, the mechanic was telling the truth. But if he's gone to the trouble of changing one chain/guide rail, then it would have been better to replace the bottom one too, just for peace of mind. (And the clutch too ) I got my top and bottom chains done. But I supplied all the parts, and specified exactly what I wanted doing Like I said, I've never heard of the bottom pad wearing away like the top one, so it's probably not worth losing sleep over it :)

  9. Just a reminder, 'cos it wasnt on over the weekend :D
  10. Yeah, an S2000 is the only current Jap car I wouldnt mind. :D Would be nice if they did a 6-cylinder version  I've also always liked (but never seriously considered buying) the GTO-Twin Turbo, & Nissan 300ZX
  11. You could get stuff like the coilovers in a group buy - Konigs were £500 inc. VAT/Delivery a few months back
  12. Blimey, how on earth do you turn your wheels?!
  13. I think each side comes to about £60+ (all 3 bits) This was roughly the quote I got from GPC last year. I never bothered buying them, just left 'em off in the end
  14. ..or just skip to the last page of the article  :) http://www.golf.homechoice.co.uk/corrad ... do-08b.jpg
  15. Ahhh.. I've got the Golf mag with that car featured in it. 8) Scans uploaded onto my FTP Here's the old thread: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... =turbo+vr6 The plate, L256JOM doesnt seem to come up on the RAC check thingy. Maybe it's been written off :( ..or it's on a different plate
  16. £500 fully comp for a 280BHP+ VR6?! Damn thats cheap. I tried getting some quotes when the charger group buy was on, but most places didnt wanna know :(
  17. I got a decent set from Euro Car Parts. ..however they did get jammed over my accelerator pedal and gave me the scare of my life. Imagine having your foot hard on the brake pedal, and the car still pulling away!   That little incident wrecked my clutch/flywheel Since then, I've kept the mat in place with double sided velcro all over the underside of the mat. Hasnt moved an inch!
  18. If they're anything like mine, they'll be siezed on after 10 years! I bought new track rod ends + bolts and got my garage to fit em :) Cost about £60 for the fitting. I think they heat the old ones up with a blow torch once they're seized, so they can get 'em off
  19. I got it done at a garage, while it was in for the chains/clutch I dunno what most garages charge, but my place cut me a really good deal  Had the following work carried out for less than £500: - Chains/tensioners replaced - Fit new clutch & flywheel - Fit new suspension - Fit new brake disks + pads ..and they had to supply a new thermostat Bargain!!
  20. STORM 2 - The ride is a little bit firmer than standard, but then I guess you'd expect that when its lowered :) It's certainly not uncomfortable, feels perfect on 95% of the roads I'm on. Just that a small part of my drive to work is on some god awful road with sh!t loads of potholes and undulations.. Then again, when I drive my standard MK2 GTI on that road, it's not a whole lot better! :D I guess it also depends on how much you decide to lower it - I'd imagine the lower you go, the more the springs are compressed and the firmer it is? :?
  21. Christ, you get all the luck don't you Thats just nuts
  22. Couldnt resist playing with Photoshop
