  1. My alarm is a conlog, and it's bloody annoying! It automatically locks the car after about 30secs. Very annoying if I need to have the bonnet open - It means I also need to have a door/boot open to avoid the car locking and setting the alarm off.. Didn't used to lock itself like this. Only started when my car battery went flat last year  Cant figure out how the hell to stop it arming after 30secs now. I've got a copy of the manual (kindly sent from VR6Storm) but it doesnt seem to mention how to disable it Hope I havent hijacked your thread bigpants baby :)
  2. Have to disagree with you there. When I bought my Corrado, I had to get insurance urgently as HIC  :2gunfire: never bothered to call me back to start a policy.... So, left in the lurch, I had to get insurance elsewhere. I paid for a years policy with Elephant for something like £800, then quit the policy after 5 weeks. I got back around £720. But 99% of insurers dont pay back pro-rata. I'm not sure if Elephant have changed their refund policy recently.
  3. I'm pretty sure that elephant charge pro-rata, so if you cancel the policy after a month or 2, you get back 10/12ths of what you paid (assuming you pay for a year's policy initally) Usually, most insurers give you back some miserly amount such as 40% after a couple of months  I insured my corrado for a month last year with elephant, then got back a hefty amount (11/12ths) Best to ask em if they do charge pro-rata, and ask how much you get back after cancelling x-months in, just to be sure.
  4. I dont get depressed about it, but everyone at work knows that whenever take a day off, it's because I've gotta do something with the car  They think I'm mad  because I park carefully, so as not to scuff the alloys
  5. Oh bollards... I've just started a new 'agreed value' policy with Adrian Flux.
  6. Henny who were you insured with?
  7. Hi mate, yeah bought new coil from VW, starts 1st time now. :)
  8. It's the real badge, stuck it on temporarily for the pics  Got 2 fake badges in front of me but I'm too lazy to paint 'em
  9. Took some more pics yesterday, needed for my insurance.. Got my alloys refurbed at Pristine last week, they look amazing now 8) Dunno whether to keep 'em on or go back to the speedlines :?
  10. Used to have them on my VR6 - previous owner had them fitted... I hated them. Looked like saw blades and they seemed to judder whenever I had my foot on the brake. Originally I thought this was the ABS, and all corrados were like this. Then someone in the know told me otherwise. Now running proper VAG brake discs and they are a billion times better
  11. My car is lowered 50mm at the back and 35mm at the front (was 50mm until last week) Had no problems yet with speedbumps, but I go over them dead slow
  12. *bump* Ordered 2 new track rod ends from VW, along with nuts. The track rod ends are totally seized on the car at the moment, so I'm taking it to a garage to get the new ones fitted. Anything else worth changing in that area at the same time? I dont want the garage to ring me up saying that they also need 'x' part. :?: Cheers :D
  13. Locla shop, you say? Had my keys reprogrammed at the $tealers recently, 5 minute job and they charge £53 for the pleasure :x ZippyVR6: Prise your current keys apart, if there's a little metallic rectangular block in the corner, then the $tealers are probably right
  14. http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/printF ... 28,00.html :?
  15. Maybe this'll help: http://www.gti16v.org/vwcolors.htm
  16. Yeah monza was kinda turquoise. There were a few (rare) late monza blue GTI's
  17. I wish I'd heard of the WD-40 trick before I bought the new coil & got the keys recoded.. :| Never mind, the car works now :)
  18. Monza blue? Dont think corrado's came in that colour though
  19. Took my solitudes to Pristine for a refurb. Also raised the front of the car by 15mm
  20. Skeletor drove a Fiat Panda?
  21. Not likely, I chopped its head off  THATS how p!ssed off I was with the damn thing  I suppose squirting WD40 there too, like you suggest, wont do any harm :) Cheers
  22. Yep, fair enough, RW1's suggestion is also worth a try
  23. Yep, easy to replace. Part number is 1H0 953 254 E You need to remove the lower steering cowling, plus the trim above the drivers footwell. Pic of the offending part attached. The ring goes around the ignition barrel, and the other end of the cable goes up near the back of the headlight switch
  24. I bet you a tenner it's the coil  It might be the keys needing recoding, but I doubt it. Mine would start-die-start-die-start-die.... then start properly after leaving it for a while Transponder wont need changing, just the coil
  25. Coil p/n: 1H0 953 254 E But you'll need to remove the pastic wedge on the connector - you'll see what I mean when you try fitting it
