  1. is that down to running out of road before your spoiler even pops up though??? you believe how much tarmac there is when you get over here at the weekend :-P
  2. i'd say it's a dangerous one to call... the reality of it is you have done the work, unfortunately convincing someone you don't know that it's the case is never going to be easy. btw - before you hear it from everyone else, that's a brave thread title for the depraved mind's cruising this forum... anyone called 'Dave' springs to mind
  3. nah, i'm not Welsh enough to work for the DVLA! there's a search function you can use to trace some car details on the RAC website: http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehiclechecks/dvla_lookup/
  4. 'twas a fine looking motor (based on the pic you posted)... i've always been a quiet admirer of yellow C's... also ditto above - nice rims!!! if it helps, a DVLA lookup shows that it's had 7 owners since new and last changed hands 05/02/2005... so i'm guessing your buyer still has it??
  5. for anyone not still spitting feathers about the IROC, there's a feature on it in this quarter's Intersection magazine...
  6. Privilege currently insure the 'Rado, but flat refused any form of multi-car policy - in fact the 'i can only be driving one of them at once' just drew a sneer... ha, probably because the guy still drives his Mum's 1.2 Corsa :-P and Admiral... tried the online quote thing and got "We are unable to provide a quote for you for the following reasons: GTi - we would like to know more about how you plan to use this car (presumably as i ticked the 'commute' box for this one) Corrado - we need more information about your car (declared the mods)" ...so much for t'internet, time to ring India and explain
  7. Andy665, just came across this thanks to the 'search'... Does this mean you have all cars covered on one blanket policy? I'm currently running two cars (the C whenever i can and a GTi for the commute/shopping run) and can't get any love from the insurance companies when i say "i can only be driving one at any time"... so hoping that this multicar policy may be what i'm looking for. cheers fella.
  8. Big playstation! your not wrong! ...maybe the Seller only want's shot of it because he dosn't like taking it out, in which case i'll swap him my PS2 and he can kick back indoors for as long as he wants!
  9. i think we'll soon be seeing the words 'restraining' and 'order' presented to us in legal manner!!
  10. ...if you really go stalker, the current highest bidder has recently only bought t-shirts and stuff for about £1.50 a pop... so where did £300,600 suddenly spring from
  11. ...and the 'ugly car award' goes again to the USA! :gag:
  12. crackin'... cheers fella! that'll get me some brownie points (and before you ask, she won't be up for you cashing them in on my behalf  )
  13. the wife's Polo has this head-unit (bad pic from my 'camera'-fone!?!?) had to disconnect it yesterday as former owner had fitted it badly and speaker connections & aerial had rattled loose... only trouble is that in disconnecting from the battery it's mucked up the clock and without a manual for it i've got no idea which of the keys to use to reset it...
  14. Add more fuel to that fire fella!! ...best of luck, but it sounds like points to me - if it helps, the time i got 'done' i was doing 47 in a 30 and the officer commented that i'd only get 3pts, whereas if he'd left it a few seconds i'd have been at 50+ and it would be 'at least 6pts'.
  15. mattnorgrove i'm sure you're about to get flamed, but check the first sticky in the General Car Chat thread! (best of luck with the Mods  )
  16. i'm running tar-ox g88's at the moment, but the fronts really need replacing, so while we're talking discs - anyone have a recommended place to buy them from??
  17. my VR had been standing on a former Forum member's drive for a year when i bought it... (albeit that he had it serviced, taxed and MOT'd prior to sale). i'd imagine the thing you want to check most are i) brakes - i.e. not siezed or having so much surface corrosion that they're useless; ii) how well it runs - mine wouldn't hold a tickover and needed the the idle control valve blasted through a few times as there was a lot of residual cr*p where the fuel had been 'stagnating' in the tank; iii) oil change before running it too far??; iv) rust - has it been sitting somewhere dry or somewhere where the moisture can sit and hide in all those nasty places! anyways, hope it all works out fella! :thumb right:
  18. i bet she has no trouble getting into those tight parallel parking spots in the city centre
  19. ...still get's my vote as the best bit of F1 driving i have ever witnessed!!
  20. End of an era for sure... love him or loathe him the bloke's a legend in F1, even his 'controversial' moments have kept F1 in the public eye. Just hope the F1 carnival can take the loss, i rate Raikkonen, Alonso, Fisi and even new boy Rubik's Cube... er, Robert Kubica as racers, but there aren't really any 'characters' left in the paddock which can carry a charisma of (good or bad) off the track. Either way, I'll always be a Scuderia fan... ever since my arbitrary decision to follow them as a child with the words "Mummy, I like the red cars bestest"... Come on Schumi, Championship No.8 is only a few laps off!! :salute:
  21. can't believe no-one's pointed you back here again http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46424  given the 'fleet' in your sig, i'd have to add my voice to the A6 Avant suggestion... there are loads about and they sell for peanuts compared to the Passat's for some reason (not that the Passat's a bad car by any means... i've destroyed one myself!)
  22. any chance you can pop around a convince my wife of that matt?? she's adamant that if a lottery win should grace us at some point, that a gold coloured one of them will be hers!!
  23. PMSL... sod me, i'd forgotten about the Dragon... (points a little more towards your 'real' age though  )
  24. now that is fair comment... it seems somehwat remiss that when the size for parking spaces was standardised back in the post-flower power mists fo the 70's, a vast percentage of cars were significantly smaller. with average car size way way up on what it used to be... the changes in motoring like SUV's, 4x4's, people-carriers/mini-vans and the general steroid injection of model evolutions (case in point Mk1 Golf vs Mk5), surely the humble parking space is due for a re-think? trouble is, 1) it'd cost the government and council money, 2) it would likely require 16 white-papers, 4 committees and quarter of a century of investigations for the aforementioned bureaucrats to address it, and 3) the conclusion would be that increaing bay sizes would actually reduce the number of spaces in each car park, meaning less revenue for councils and the NCP and is therefore not a viable option...
