One way to get 75% of interesting new cars off the road?!?! Also a pretty bizarre opinion from former head of Shell given last weeks mega-profit announcement, still I guess he's got his pension fund sorted by now... :? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7225451.stm

During a blast from the New Forest up to Oxfordshire on Saturday I offended and scared a number of fellow motorists as the horn started randomly going off/jamming on as I drove up the A34... now when you're no-where near other traffic that's fine, but when you roll of the A road and start off around the Oxford Ring Road, barrelling into a roundabout horn blaring, bringing other motorists to a stand-still and attracting several glares, waved fists and unheard (but clearly seen) verbalising - it get's a touch embarrassing! After 3 such occurences and a 4th where I seriously believed the motorcyclist I drove up behind and startled hedgewards was going to beat me to death with my own shoes, I got bored of having to pull over and hide myself in shame at being such an obnoxious ar$e and dimantled the lower dash panel and ripped the fuse out. Obviously the horn is earthing somewhere, so just owndered if any folks have had a similar experience and would be able to suggest the most likely source of my pain. Cheers folks. *but not in the way you think Toad

hey, Milsom's Point 8) ah, youse means the car... yeah, top one...
-
superb... although i'm surprised that Mr. Hunt would opt for a German motor - surely he should be one of those early 80s disillusioned types that bought a Capri... but then he'd be in The Professionals  (oh, and since i only just noticed your sig. file... congrats on the engagement!)

...so not necessarily out of the UK, eh? Eyes out in Wales, Scotland and Ireland then :)

did you see the TTS over on PH today?? ...looks a bit brassy 8) http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=17447

how do fella... have you tried contacting the council and asking if they have any garages for rent? failing this, there's a company in London called Courtman & Co. who i rent a garage in Southampton from - no email but they're contactable as follows: Courtman & Company PO Box 16867 London W7 3ZQ T:08704 586918 F:020 8575 9452 finally, check local papers, freeads etc for rentable lock ups or post something on your local supermarket/post office notice board... a mate tried the latter and an elderly car-less couple rent him their garage for £10 a month! 8)

The wife drives a '98 Polo SE with a Vermeulen Hollandia glazed sunroof. The seal has split on the leading edge and is now p*ssing water onto the driver's seat and into the footwell. Having done some research, it appears that these sunroofs were a dealer fit for the SE models rather than a factory fitted at build. This was backed up when the local Stealers told me that the part couldn't be sourced through them. I've unsuccessfully searched for a spares supplier near me and in the meanwhile I've tried a temp repair using waterproof sealant - with, based on phonecall I've just taken, equally dismal results :( Does anyone know from experience if the Passat moonroof is the same dimensions as the one fitted to the Polo as if so I can look for one via a breaker. Thanks.

Know what you mean - I went with a friend who looked at a new Cupra Leon last month and it's barely distinguishable from the standard motor, bar a couple of badges and some grille mods. At least the LCR was a bit more bulked up than the normal shopping trolley version :?

Instructor: On this occasion sir, I am sorry to tell you that you have not passed...

...i believe so - far be it from us to dwell on the semantics after all!

And beat them with a big stick like a human pinata. i'll second that! ...in fact the one leaning against your front wing looks fairly handy :D

i'd promised myself a 'Rado for years and never got around to it. spent about 4mths checking out various beasties (only viewed one burgundy VR - it was shoddy as hell and put me right off), eventually settled on a lush silver 2.0 8v... which the owner then proceeded to sell to someone else while i was en-route to paying him (as some goit offered him more!) always figured i'd just know when the right one came up, so after 100's miles looking at them it was ironic to find a sweet looking black VR less then 10miles from home... the owner took me for a spin in it and that V engine renewed my interest, so i just had to have it! ...and aside from the failed MAF which was highlighted at the Surrey Rolling Road day, i'm still loving it 8)

...what about grey interior and black cover? Don't burst my bubble and tell me the grey interior on mine was retro-fitted!
-
Nah - those cheap Karmann buggers! The wife's Ibiza is older than the 'Rado and even that has a low fuel light :?

not seen it sorry... but should you ever be bored enough to get a screen-grab, then you can post it here: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=&model=corrado 8)

had a couple of Mk1 Gits all of which were a bag of fun in their own way... normally ran them for 3-6mths, polished them up and shunted on. still have my first car, a stock '66 bug, as despite it being off the road for about 12yrs now i never plucked up the courage to get rid of it... lining it up for a project run in New Year (obviously after bonnet re-spray and MAF replacement on the C). for outright fun though, i'd say the bought direct from German army VW 181 i ran for a few summers
-
ditto... think i only picked mine up a few weeks before you, if my vague recollection of conversation in the car park of the White Horse from the first South Coast is correct

i bought an external hard disk for my PC a few weeks back*... and that has Porsche Design stamped on the side of it... but all it looks like is a silver box?!? *price & capacity being the deciding factor - not who designed it... frankly who forkin' cares??! -
If you got rid of your C what modern car would you have?
jazzdevil replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
my cousin's just 'inherited' a 6mth old one... his 73yr old Dad bought one, but decided it was too much and swapped keys with his son for a 2002 1.6 Bora. Fair trade if you can get it! if i had to be practical, probably an RS4 Avant or an LCR... but at the moment, following a weekend test drive and given that I've never been that practical - i'll invite derision and say a yellow Clio V6 8) -
Top Gear... back Sunday night with 'that' Golf!
