  1. not quite the contentious issue i'd expected then! cheers peeps... 8)
  2. While the 'Rado has a winter hiatus and waits for me to save the pennies to overhaul the frankly slop-in-a-bucket brakes and get it fully serviced, I've been driving my old '97 Ibiza Cupra... it's just about due a new MOT and now the airbag light on the dash is permanently glowing angry red at me - does anyone have any experience of this in a similar era Golf or other VAG-mobile?? I'm not savvy enough to know whether this means the bugger is not arming, the sensor is shagged or what... so now I'm causing mayhem in the village while I dodge potholes incase the steering wheel explodes in my face and my helpful mate then remarked that "that'll fail your MOT then and put both your cars off the road" so, in an nutshell - is it a MOT failure or should I just pop the bulb out for the test an sort it afterwards?
  3. :thumbleft: bring on the carnage!! ...heard that the opening feature is the now legendary 'Hamster Roll'!!
  4. 'Heroes' is great so far (starts in Sci-Fi in the UK next month and then BBC2 - likely in a cut-to-ribbons edit - by June/July) and you gotta bow to the legend that is William Shatner in 'Boston Legal'... plus 'House' gets a vote from me! Still watch 'CSI' every so often (new season starts on Tues), but it's not as compelling as it used to be... 'Scrubs' is still worth watching, but like someone mentioned earlier it's stagnated a bit recently - esp. when virtually the entire cast were pregnant / making people pregnant (with Zach Braff leaving at the end of the season it's likely to get canned anyway)... watched 'ER' since it started in the 90's, but it jumped the shark a while back when the entire cast ended up as sub-25yr olds... it's never been as good since they had a helicopter fall off a building on fire and land on Paul McCrane's character ;-P
  5. sounds like a plan... even I'd risk travelling t'North* for this one  *i.e. beyond Winchester
  6. i used to work in a team where 4 of the 6 of us guys were called Dave... i used this as my justification for never answering the phone as people always wanted to speak to Dave and i couldn't be fect to work out which one!
  7. bought my VR with 94k on the clock in June 2005 and it's now racked up to 103k... hit 100k on the way back from Le Mans though, so it made the 'century' feel a little bit better!
  8. that's easy... i know exactly where my C is when it's being driven... as i tend to be sitting in it!
  9. odd... that looks suspiciously like the outside of my Mum's place... are you sure "work" covers it?!?!
  10. ah, the statement that also makes me wonder whether the upcoming R8 really will temp the masses away from Stuttgart's finest...
  11. ...see now i've gone and made a mess on the in-laws PC. damn you!
  12. ...one apparently common fault i've heard of (from three different Leon owning people), is that the boot catches pack up - this also happened on my sisters Ibiza and Dad's Altea. all the Leon's just had the catch stop working*; i.e. fail to unlock, the Altea one refused to lock and Ibiza went proper mad and unlocked when rest of car locked and popped open when you drove over speed-bumps too fast!?!? [*my old manager's Leon was one of the first in the UK and got through 4 latches inside it's warranty period!]
  13. ...just been emailed by a mate (whos' a 944 driver, so we're eager to compare notes) to say he bought the mag today in WHSmith. as a matter of interest/public service to the Forum, his report on the article was: 'it’s not an S2 like my car they are featuring but the earlier 16V S- rated as the worst 944 sold (by 911 & Porsche World) as with most other manufactures Porsche didn’t get 16v technology right straight away so the 2.7 8v was cheaper and better/quicker to drive. I flicked to the conclusion and they seem to conclude that the VR6 is better but that they’d rather drive the Porker as it’s more involving. Seems fair enough, yours has too be cheaper to run and easier to get parts for too.' ...seems like he was expecting them to suggest you buy a 944 over a VR... silly fella :-P
  14. ...EVER!! I tried it three times, first time a pigeon sh*t straight onto the Karmann badge, and second time it jammed but eventually closed after i 'coaxed' it... last time was when it stopped working half open, just before a cloudburst!!
  15. my fear is that this is the closest i'll ever get to owning an early 70s Carrera RS in orange :(
  16. corozin, i take it your car's still in that car park too as there doesn't appear to be a way out of it!??!
  17. hmmm, i'd say no don't get an 8v as a daily driver... but that's just me being a little b*tch because i want to do the same and cant afford to at the mo?!?! :splat:
  18. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwww... at least they can raise some cach to buy a new designer or two by flogging the concept to Hyundai !
  19. grimmy, i know a guy who does decent dent-repair work in Southampton - pm me if you want his name/number for when you're next down... as for the jumpers themselves, i hope their shoelaces are tied together before they try it again!! :x
  20. to paraphrase Martin Q Blank: "dumb forkin' luck!!"... my VR's bonnet was jumped outside a friends place in Maybush back in the summer too... it must be something in the Stella around these parts... where abouts in the $hitty were you parked! sorry that S'fampton has left a bitter taste in your mouth (no twisted comments Numpty D. )... i promise you we're not all like that!!!
