Sorry if this is a re-post... ran a quick search but didn't find anything which looked similar. My wipers have stopped working on high-speed, so I only have intermittent wipe or 'normal' speed... all of which should have been fine since it's the summer, except I came very unstuck during the 300miles of rain as I came back from Le Mans on Sunday afternoon... damn that spray!! . Will this be as simple as a relay issue or more likely a motor fault? Cheers.

:D Zymol is the mutt's proverbials... previous owner of my VR swore by it too. You'll be needing pennies and time a plenty for good results!* *plus, based on today some better f'kin weather!! -

Cheers for the info folks... Yup, spoiler works fine... sunroof works in theory, but mechanism broke last Sept. Based on the above I suggested to the Specialist about removing the transponder and he pretty well told me where to get off - charmed i'm sure! Lost the car for the night while they look into it :( To add to the issues, I had asked the guys to look at the ABS on VAG-COM too as my intermittently flashing ABS light has been staying on of recent and the car is due an MOT in a fortnight... let's just say that having read this thread http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=57087, i am now off to have a beer and fergeddaboutit?!?!

hopefully this is a relatively easy one... but for a non-electrically minded chump like me, it's presenting problems when i turn the key to ignition, the engine fires, starts and the rev counter clocks about 1100/1200rpm as the needle peaks... then after about a second it drops back to zero and cuts out as if it has been switched off again. any ideas??? it's especially embarrassing as the car is in for an annual service today and the garage can't even start it to get it into the workshop...

...which is just as well, given that I'd have to defend such a purchase against the missus!!

it's a 1989 and is definitely boot-badged as a GTX. it has 128K on the clock and is completely standard bar a twin pipe sports exhaust - it's got to be worth a look as a a cheap little commuter car (over and above the VR) nothing to explain whether it's the 1.6 or 1.8 engine...

I've stumbled across a cheap Scirocco locally and just wondered if there are any issues/problems to keep an eye on above and beyond the usual car stuff... it declares itself to be a 'rare GTi version' in the ad, albeit that the description then goes on to say it's a GTXi?!!? the car looks generally very tidy and straight (always good i suppose  ), but does note that it has 'a few small problems', such as failed heater control cable. any info would be appreciated. cheers folks!

-47C outside temp... think my sensor is buggered!!

liberated the VR from it's garaged winter storage yesterday (best Easter Egg i opened all day  )... i was grinning like a loon on the drive home. took it home and gave it some new discs and pads as a homecoming present... cleaned from one end t'other... drove to Mum & Dads for some food and watched it get $hit on by a pair of pigeons  ...just going to fill a bucket and clean it again!! hopefully start C-spotting again from tomorrow!

fantastic show - i've never been before. only downer was that the water pump on our Touareg imploded about 12kms short of Venlo on the way back... turned out VW issued a recall for water pump faults only the previous Monday, so had to abandon the beast and come home in a dealership Sharan! now have to go back this weekend again to collect the Touareg, it's costing a fortune in ferry crossings!!! ...only saw one bright orange 'Rocco and a Tornado G60 'Rado, both were on the VW stand in Hall 7 - i think they were both from the company collection at Wolfsburg... looked stunning though!!

picked up one at the Essen Techno Classica at the weekend for 27Euros... the numpty trader was advertising them as Black or Blue... I naturally opted for Black to match mine and then discovered that they're only in Blackberry and Blue. One should read this type of thread before blundering blindly... still at least previous posts prove that it's easy enough to dismantle and correct ;-)

NZ did indeed have 'some'... or perhaps that should read 'a couple'?? there were only half a dozen or so sold in NZ as they were priced at the equivalent of £30K+ and only sold for about 9-10mths... there's a VW Club in NZ and the membership includes all 5 remaining cars!

The S2 is Coupe & Avant... they did make a full set... from memory the saloon was a very rare beast here in Blighty though. i'd take any of these: ...but probably not this one?!!? :cuckoo:

As above fella, it's not 'Game Over' yet... is your name Hudson or something?!!? Hit Continue before the timer's out :) ...did i miss something?!?

what's coconuts got to do with anything??

my cousin ran a mk1 Jetta for a few years without fault... any problems tend to be same as the era-Golfs - knocking tappets, worn engine mounts and the like. nothing that couldn't be easily fixed... actually, cousin's looking for a similar aged/type project himself... so i won't tell him that you've found one just down the road in Poole :)

f@£%ers!! best summed up by Jim's avatar: "Over the line!"

are you going over for the Truck Grand Prix or just 'taking in the sights' on the Nordschleife?
-
first go and i get a filthy beemer vs. a 599... hardly a gentlemans sport then... the SWINES!
-
i may sound 'sheepish', but go get him mate! insurance will be fine as they'll claim off him for the costs - being hit from behind is always the fault of the driver behind... just thank your luckies that you don't like in Southampton as a friend of mine was shunted so badly in town that her Mk3's a write off - unfortunatley she's got no-one to claim from as the other driver was in a Polish reg'd Passat and just drove off :censored:
-
...which gets me thinking, if only 9000 made it to these shores and numpties keep crashing them, how many are actually left??
-
Yup, thought that was brilliant... now they just need to get Hamsters road-roller from last nights show and flatten that sodding house to finish it off properly... preferably with the contestants still in it* *except for Dirk 'Starbuck/Faceman' Benedict as the fella's a legend :notworthy:
