  2. red C (BS alloys??) on Hill Lane/Bassett Road roundabout heading into town tonight about 17:45... don't think you saw me going the other way as your windows were steamed up
  3. Don't know if this one has been asked before... made a trip to Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth for the benefit of my other half yesterday. cruised in without any drama but found out on the way out of the car park that my C is just low enough to bottom out (quite hard) crossing one of those nasty little black/yellow rubber speed bumps :x (this is probably Earl style karma after I laughed at my sister for scuffing her Saxo VTR on the wall of the narrow ramps of Southampton's Bargate Centre  ) So, obvious places like 'the moon', 'off-roading in Peak District', 'the Namib desert' aside, does anyone have any notes on where fellow C drivers shouldn't attempt to drive?
  4. i was spotted!!! the dark VR was me i think... on my way to get the car washed (that way it'll get described as black rather than 'darker' next time ) i also spotted the green vr6 about 1pm... and a lowered de-badged C JxxxCYL in the East Street multi-storey at about 3.15pm...
  5. mate, that's a very tidy looking Bora.. never went for them much, but i'm impressed! ..that said, it's good to see you've found your way back to the 'Rado though ;-P
  6. ..what a gump, the whole thing with the 'Rado is that it's all about the angles!!
  7. i've seen a blackberry vr on the M271 too, about six weeks back but forgot to post the spot  no chance of anyone finally spotting me in my black vr until next year as i'm typing this from Hyderabad in India where i'm training people to do my job... so the C has gone into hibernation for 3 months!!
  8. Storm grey C rolling off the A27 at the Emsworth exit, Sunday at 4pm-ish... Dark blue C in Southampton City Centre with a brunette lass at the wheel??
  9. yup, that's me... and fuel prices be damned, i'm loving every minute of it :D i'll keep my eyes peeled for you too.. i've got to get a spot in this place!
  10. i saw the same VR in southampton earlier on last week too... there's also a dark blue C and the white valver i've mentioned before careering around town, but it doesn't appear that they're here anywhere... :?
  11. Brilliant! My Dad had a yellow Gordini-Renault 17 just like that when I was about 9 years old. The car got binned in style though when the nut that held the (metal bladed) fan came off at 80mph on the M3 and cut a perfect hole straight through the radiator... not pretty! We had another 17 after the 'yellow peril', a later rectangular headlamp model in a bizarre mock-Starsky style red with a white stripe which went along the door and over the roof... it wasn't anything like as good as the Gordini, but it made me a lot of friends at school
  12. i remember seeing that Revell Zender Cabrio model about 14years ago in our local [now defunct] Beatties store... thought i'd dreamt it!! i know it never made production, but did Zender ever actually make a 'real' concept version... and if so does anyone know if it then qualifies for the 'rarest car you've ever seen' thread?
  13. based on the posts above, the avg 31-35mpg on longer trips seems normal... the commute to work normally sees it down to 26-30mpg... local schools went back today though and the traffic went mental at 8am - down to 17mpg today thanks to the little buggers!!
  14. i was lucky enough to be living in Australia and running a 4.3l V8 when the last bockades hit... couldn't believe how bad it got over here - my sister ended up abandoning her car on the M27!! :pale: running a VR at the moment is a definitely a pricey job... my daily commute is enforced as i have to get out of the New Forest, but unfortunately not far enough to be an 'economical' trip... it's a bugger, but i'm even tempted to buy a little 1.0l Polo just to get to and from work!!
  15. i've got a Tatra 603-2 in the garage if that counts... found it in a field behind a service station near Winchester and rescued it for the princely sum of £100. it's currently 'off road' while the 2.5l aircooled V8 [read as loud as a b@$t@rd] and the acres of bodywork get an overhaul... looking forward to roadtesting it as the 'Rado corners like it's on rails while the Tatra corners like an 18 storey tower block!!
  16. followed a white valver out of Southampton at about 7pm on Thurs... any takers?? ...did i miss something - why's everyone changing their avatars to 'real' pics of themselves??
  17. in the last 24hrs i have driven 400miles from Southampton to Matlock and back and still only seen one other Rado on the road - dark colour, heading North on the A43 between Silverstone and Towcester at 12:30 today - i gave the obligatory wave and still not getting any love from out there... :( are there really any other Forum members out there or are you all devious strands of code in my own private Matrix?? :? ...ooh bugger, i've just seen the Dukes of Hazzard movie trailer on MTV - what a tragedy - time to change the avatar methinks!!
  18. ah well... all the best to whoever scores with the buy... i'm embarrassed that i took so many years faffing about before i got my VR... i mean, i even test drove a new 147 at one point!! :?
  19. i offered a wave to a red valver and a white C which was being held up in traffic on the A326 heading towards the M27 yesterday... i was rolling the other way and got completely ignored by both... ignorant b@$t^rds!! i'm heading to a wedding in Matlock at the weekend (A34, M40.. that road past Silverstone and M1), so hopefully the northern contingent will be more welcoming
  20. ...being a bit of a newbie here myself, can i just butt in and ask what the Campaign model is/was??? ...i'll feel like a plank i know - but is this the 'final final' shelled cars that arrived after the Storm??
  21. I've only owned my VR for 7 weeks and that had been stood for nearly 12 months before i bought it (as member Kieron will no doubt testify!)... anyways, the idle was shot to $hit when i first got it too... :( ...previous posts had suggested it may be the MAF, but a quick look-over at the local VW specialist found that the Idle Control Valve was just choked up with gunk... a clean out, plus the service sorted it all and it drives brilliantly now (as the daft git in the MR2 on the A326 will also testify!!) for 2K i'd say give it a go... if it really bites you later there's always gonna be someone waiting to take it off you or at the very least people who need the spares!
  22. soz to hear about your 'Rado... engine transplant sounds like a good one tho if you can get a decent garage rate (or know a mechanic you can bribe *) glad your mate is okay... but look on the bright side - it's another Vectra (or Vauxhall chicane as I like to think of them) off the road!!
  23. kerrinmay - were you rolling into the top end of Portsmouth (off the M275) about 17:45 yesterday?? I was coming out of the city in a mate's car (too embarrassed to mention what) and saw a dark coloured C coming into the roundabout, but I was too far away to scope the colour properly? i'm down that way visiting friends fairly often, so i'll keep an eye out for you... i'm in a black VR N*BRJ
  24. jenks... dare i ask what you're gonna do to the Caddy??
  25. bugger! ..bet you're glad you didn't sod the Cat (or exhaust for that matter) though as your wallet would be a smouldering pile by now!! If it makes you feel any better though, I was working at an outdoor bar-tent at a local festival with a mate who drives a late 60's 911. As we packed up at the end of the night, the generators were shut down and the floodlights put out. As we cruised down the site to the gate at 1am, he was chatting away as we drove head-first into the spit-roast BBQ which had already been set up for the Sunday... no engine damage obviously, but still sodded the bumper, bonnet and a headlamp though!
