  1. ...it's not quite a Rodius, but another contender cropped up today while I was perusing Auto Express
  2. nope, it's a breeze... PM'd you my mobile no. so we can sort it later today if you like.
  3. if you go to Euro Car Parts at least you can tell them which car & engine you have - just ask for a distributor cap and set of HT leads for a [what ever year] 2L 8v Golf... fitting's an easy job - you can pm me if you want someone on hand to walk you through it though.
  4. Almost certainly true  - someone has been guilty of making a faulty generalisation. Thousands of airline passengers will be doing the same every day, too, as they scan their fellow travellers. The way of the world, one would have to say. point taken... but if you're born ginger that's the kind of attention you tend to attract
  5. i'd second that... it's one of those cars that falls into the 'brilliantly clever, but before it's time' categories, with the NSU Ro80 etc. i don't necessarily agree with everything on the 'uglycars' site, although they do have some real contenders... Audi A2, the Aero 8, the Cayenne and the Maxi - sorry Rodder's but the BL statement will take some qualifying!!
  6. Renault Vel Satis anyone??? in fact, this may help... http://www.uglycars.co.uk/uglycars.asp , i particularly like the PT Cruiser pic they've used :)
  7. glad you got a motor sorted Matt i'll keep an eye out for a wave from a passing green GIT driver then :)
  8. ...Tesco and our local Shell station are turning out 95 RON for 91.9 in Southampton today. Curiously, the Optimax seems to be sticking at 98.9 like it's been for the past fortnight???
  9. hmmm, not quite what i was hoping either... there's also a fair amount of Leon in it too... and if you remove the number plate/iroc badge from the front of the green version it looks like a screaming cartoon frog... (or a modern Audi?? :-P )
  10. not very substantial bump strips on there... you want to be careful in car parks!!! ...ah, hang on... wrong thread
  11. now i'd pay serious money for some of them!!!!
  12. ...or it could be a Clarkson style 'race' between us  luckily, in the words of my local specialist "work is work"... so my wallet will soon be £375 lighter
  13. like mrbiege says... always satisfying! don't suppose you feel like tackling my sunroof which as of an hour ago has stopped tilting too (it hasn't 'slid' for about a year!)??? :-P
  14. ...are you sure you spelled that correctly?
  15. ...Storm's included, have you seen how many VR's are on the 'Trader at the moment too??? ...will current fuel prices kill off the VR6? ...answers on a postcard :|
  16. However, not legal. Cancelling the policy will cancel the policy from the begining - so you will have been driving without insurance, basically... ...not forgetting that some insurance companies have an early redemption penalty or require 1mths notice :?
  17. i have an Ibiza Cupra with the 2.0L 8v engine in, which is the same unit as the one my cousin had in a Mk3 GTi... and neither ever put a foot wrong. the Cupra has a fair bit of get-up-and-go, but don't know that it would pull as well in the Golf as the latter obviously weighs a bit more. good luck all the same!
  18. a relation used this the other day: http://www.norwichunion.com/short-term- ... /index.htm if it helps.
  19. a wee bit of trivia for you... the Brits colonised Australia and New Zealand, and yet over there undertaking on dual/multi-carriageways is legal. go figure
  20. yup, pop the bonnet and check the under the plastic scuttle at the back... the little pipe to the rear is either disconnected or split. it happened on my sister's car too
  21. yeah Matt, don't settle... there's something out there with your name on it!! 8) there's 8 Rado's listed within 40miles of sunny Southampton in the 'Trader alone!!
  22. ...i'm sure that given the right 'encouragement', anything could be made to fit :D
  23. yup, there were a few of us talking on how late-plated some C's were a while back: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42159
  24. ...see now that was the logic i used when i was about 14, which resulted in the target (who happened to be a local in the army) pursuing me down the street and giving me a pop on the chin :) other options: i) hairdryer-as-speedgun ii) grey and yellow painted cardboard box on the pole that used to have a 30mph sign (before being knocked off by the dustmen) iii) trip wire a la 'The Great Escape' iv) jungle-style mantrap with sharpened bamboo spikes or permanent roadworks with a 6ft deep pit...
