I'm with you on this double-6s, used to pay about £120 a year to the rac but never called them out so cancelled it. So far the car's never let me down, and it's well maintained so in theory should be trustworthy (famous last words :) )

Worst thing some has said about ur Corrado
steve_16v replied to CorradoDriver's topic in General Car Chat
"get a bigger car!" whenever anyone gets out of the back of it Also get the occaisional comment, usually from women, about how hard the ride is (since changing the suspension) -
I was speaking to my mate about this very subject this weekend, the company he works for has a mk5 GTI with DSG as a demonstrator and he reckons it spoils the car. Apparantly it doesn't always let you change gear when you want to in semi-auto mode, and when it's in auto the sport mode doesn't change gear until it hits silly revs, and the normal mode changes gear far too early. Impressively quick changes but annoying, and pointless if you know how to change gears manually.

Can't see it making that much difference to be honest, I went up to Lancashire this weekend and spent feckin hours on the b*strd M6 both ways, the sections where it becomes 4 lanes wide were just as slow as the 3 lane sections, exept there was more space in the inside lane  Incidentally my old man is a civil engineer and says the department of transport have always known the M6 wouldn't be adequate for the amount of predicted traffic, and there have been plans for another motorway to run alongide the M6 since the 1960's and also plans for the M6 to be extended to 6 or 8 lanes wide each way. Unfortunately they deemed both plans to be too expensive so we're stuck with a woefully inadequate motorway.

wilson, .Rich., ben16v, cheers for the confirmations, post updated. Ben Thatchers challenge was pretty damn horrific, didn't look too bad the first time they showed it at full speed, but the replays showed he clearly went in to hurt Mendes, appalling behaviour! Will be interesting to see what punishment he gets though, if Rooney can get a three match ban for what was supposedly (haven't seen it) an innocent challenge, Thatcher should be banned for a few months. Mind you the FA is a joke and since he doesn't play for Man U will probably escape with a three match ban.

I see what you're saying matey, but why is it ok to make allowances for one group of people for whom getting out of the car and into the supermarket is difficult, but not another group? I.e. disabled folk and parents respectively. All or nothing imo :)[/quote:4c830] Because disabled people genuinely need the extra space and closeness to the door, parents manage in other car parks so why can't they do the same at the supermarket?
-
Don't get me wrong I can see the point in having them and have never parked in one, I just think they'd be better off just making all the other spaces bigger so you don't need them (obviously keeping the disabled bays).
-
When I go to the supermarket and don't want people parking next to me I go to the quiet end and deliberately park it badly. I leave it so the wheels on one side are on the wrong side of the white line, that way people think your a muppet behind the wheel and avoid parking next to you, it's worked every single time and no-one thinks you're a kn0b who's purposefully taking up two spaces. Don't particularly agree with the family parking spots, they weren't around when I was growing up yet my mum managed just fine with four kids and no big parking spaces.

Changing Suspension tomorrow.... Just a quicky!!!!
steve_16v replied to mtc R32's topic in Drivetrain
It's generally recommended you change the top mounts (I believe the VAG ones are supposed to be better quality than GSF) and rear bump stops (GSF ones are fine). Both should be in stock wherever you get them. -
Don't knoe what a 60's le man porker sounds like but I've been in one of those polos and agree, they don't sound as crap as you'd imagine when revved
-
just did a quick search, the general consensus is 34 front and 32 rear on 17s
-
Park it on flat ground and measure from the ground to the top of the wheel arch to see if it's level. Uneven tyre wear and pulling left is more likely to be because the alignment needs adjusting, or the tyres aren't inflated correctly.
-
hello and welcome to the forum martin, glad your car is running well now
-
Very early days yet mate  still another two games tomorrow, also if it's like last year the final scores for the week won't be finalised until the middle of the week Anyone know what the bonus points are for, they weren't there last year :? EDIT: nevermind, just checked the FFL site,
-
Shouldn't cost that much for the rear bearings to be changed, they're easy to fit and are about £10 each from the stealers (Oh and incase you didn't already know, make sure you get the SKF bearings from VAG, avoid GSF bearings like the plague, they're notoriously sh!t)
-
Ahhh, the G60 one, cheers ben16v, I did do a quick search on google but didn't see anything useful
-
'R' reg, 12,400 miles  .... I WANT that car!!! What's so special about a golf limited then? Never heard of them tbh.
-
it defaults to 4-4-2 but you can swap midfielders or defenders for strikers to let you use 3-4-3, 3-5-2, 5-4-1, etc.
-
Just because it's the late style doesn't mean it's been in a front end collision, many people prefer the look of the later ones so swap them
-
How much crap do you carry about in your car?
steve_16v replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Spindle of cd's set of darts oakleys half a packet of polo mints that is all, can't stand having things cluttering up the car Dude, that's minging! -
G60 brakes are the same size as the VR6s and would be a much easier option, the VR6 has 5 stud wheels so you'd need to change the hubs and wheels. All corrado's have the same size rear brakes so there's no point changing them.
-
Interesting, think I'll probably stick with either the t1-r or the bf goodrich g-force profiler, can't decide which one though, the toyo scores slightly higher for grip but the profiler is a better looking tyre :? Probably would have gone for the rainsports if I still lived up north but it doesn't rain that often down here so dry weather performance is more important.
-
Stuart's right there's a stickied big thread for tyre discussions. But if you get Proxes avoid the t1-s, they're crap, the t1-r however is the highest rated tyre you can get in 195/50/15 fitment (according to tyretest.com)
