  1. Did anyone else see the R8 at inter's earlier in the year?
  2. I haven't got a photo to hand but there should be a small clamp at the front of the battery tray that is held down by a 13mm (i think) bolt, the opposite side of the battery is sort of wedged under a non removalble ledge. Hope this helps. P.S. Loving the avatar, fonejacker's quality - although it doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
  3. You can use pretty much any type of boost and/or vacuum gauge, there not car specific so just find one that looks nice and that is the right size. As for the fitting kit demon tweaks sell them you've just got to make sure that the thread on your gauge matches that of the adaptor in the kit.
  4. Well i got one from the stanford hall show a while ago, but i guess you could get one from a good tool shop. You'll just have to have a ring round or a google search for 'easy out' or try 'bolt extractor' they don't cost very much. It's a handy thing to have, good luck with it.
  5. Demon tweaks is often a good one for little bits like that too.
  6. If you changed to mk4 calipers bear in mind you'd have to get conversion hoses also. Have you tried using an 'easy out' ? It's kinda like a tap but tapered and with a left hand flute so that as you wind in you're also trying to undo it.
  7. Oh ok thanks for the help, i thought about knocking the pin out but i thought i'd better ask first! Thanks again.
  8. Like i say the ABF one i got doesn't very well at all. In that the locating slots and pin don't line up and neither do some of the oil passages. The actual head gasket it's self only has a part of a part number which is 048 383D. It's a beast of a head gasket, could i have been given the wrong one?
  9. When does the power pick-up? Around 3000?
  10. Right I'm off to order a 2E or an ADY one tomorrow, see if that works
  11. I read in an old post once that you use an ABF head gasket on a KR when it's been bored out, in this case 1.9 (ish). So i bought an ABF gasket from VAG and it doesn't fit very well at all. Yes i have got it the right way up, but one of the location pins does not fit at all, neither do some of the oil holes. I don't want to use it as it's a bit dodgy. Anyway it's a KR bored out to 83.5mm (i think) and using a KR head and the ABF h/g part number is 048 103 383 D. Can anyone shed some light as to which head gasket to use?
  12. I think they do but i also think that the discs that are meant to be used are 288mm not 280 like a G60. Also I think all corrado's use screw fit hoses on the calipers whereas the later golfs like the one you described uses banjo fittings. As you can see that was all very vague, as i can't quite remember. There's loads of info on bigger brakes so have a look on the search. Your best bet if that doesn't work is calipers and carriers from a G60 or an early mk3 golf GTI, either of those will defineatley fit.
  13. I really can't see how ditching the boost return can give an even noticable performance increase even with those twin inlet things. The only reason for doing it i think is for the BOV sound it makes. But if you want it I reckon it's better to get a boost return block off plate that has an attachment for the breather pipe from the head, that way you'll be helping to prolong your charger life. Either that or get some of the charger lube that places like pitstop and g-werks sell. That's just my opinion though feel free to prove me wrong :)
  14. Nice, what are you going to do, smooth the side reflectors over to look euro?
  15. I would say the only thing is that sometimes they're a bar steward to undo, my top tip is to use a monkey wrench.
  16. I think people just leave it as it is as it just dumps to the atmosphere.
  17. I've seen people make their own before by scanning the originals onto photoshop or something, changing them as they see fit and then printing out the new design and sticking it over the original.
  18. There's is a difference between the early and late, but you can 'make' one fit the other. There's no difference between the model variants either (VR's only came in the late varitey anyway). Just thinking about it the G60 one might be a little different because of the I/C but it'll still fit.
  19. I think i'll just have to try em and hope for the best then!
  20. Has anyone got a rough idea of the kind of power that can be had using standard G60 rods (although with ARP bolts)? I think I remember reading somewhere that it was around 300BHP. They would be for a forced induction engine. Any ideas or expereinces would be greatly appreiciated.
  21. Places like Stealth will do linkage alignment, not sure if that'll fix it but it may help
  22. I went for silvery grey myself - like you see on new cars, looks quite smart. Haven't got a pic tho
  23. I got a bare block re-bored for £60, that's mates rates though!

    exhaust hangers

Your local GSF will have the correct type usually in stock too, can't remember how much they are but it's only pence. I always struggle to find them anywhere else!
