  1. i've heard a certain someone did some looking into whether the 3.6 would fit into the rado but it wasn't really a goer.. r32 is much more possible, don't know if you'll get 400 N/A hp out of it though?
  2. thanks  Sorry John, I'm not really knowledgable enough to comment on his actions in his earlier career - I didn't live here and was a bit too young to follow the politics. I only meant to be passing comment on what he's done as mayor which, despite any earlier failings, I think has been pretty positive.
  3. lol, some of us live here Dom! Agreed! Its only people that don't live in London, or have enough money that these things make zero difference to them, that moan about Ken, he's done a great job - and I'm really not as left wing as I'd like to think I am. Anyway, back to the original question, anyone know what a VRs emissions are??!! :D
  4. "The vehicles that would fall into the £25-a-day category are those in vehicle excise duty band G, which produce 225g of CO2 per kilometre, and vehicles with engines larger than 3,000cc that were registered before March 2001." Anyone know what the emissions of a VR (in various states of tune) might be?
  5. best to check with a fitter for an up-to-date view but i think it can definitely be a risk..
  6. your wallet is there to be punished..! the fact that you're posting in this thread means that you know you want one really! :D

    Tyre stretches

yep, i think thats the point, everyone can have their view on the looks of them but when the owner of the most stretched tyres anyone knows of hasn't had any trouble then that should show they're not that bad..
  8. lol, ok! blowouts maybe a bit beyond their reach! its when you don't spot the nail and the cars left for a few days for the air to trickle out that you have the problem..
  9. Used one many (like 10) years ago and it did the job no problem but obviously you're then meant to stick to 50mph or something. Whats worse is that they said to me normally they cant then repair the tyre, they managed it with mine but said I was lucky. If you're unlucky with punctures that could be expensive! That said, I don't know if things have moved on with these things now?
  10. corrado9a, you're right, no one is talking about hamilton ignoring the team orders earlier although, as I didn't see it, I don't know what effect, if any, that had on Alonso. I think that you probably have a point because reading between the lines it seems that Hamilton had some explaining to do to Ron Dennis - he was talking about having cleared the air over a "small" issue so he's probably not totally blameless.. However, obviously the majority of us are all supporting Hamilton :) and so, where Alonso is punished for something and Hamilton is not, then most of us will not study it too closely and just be pleased that our driver "seems" to be the one in the right! There's still 6 races left and hopefully the best man will win in the end ;)
  11. was this a stud on the corner where your new wheels were wobbling? all sounds related.. have you checked all the other specs of them, not just the tyres? new brakes all round depends whether you want an upgrade and what brands/quality you're after. maybe £200-250 for new discs and pads but these wont affect the "look". your calipers could be cleaned up and painted to achieve that (whether you stay standard or upgrade).
  12. 205 is not too stretched but generally the wheel rim will be the outermost surface and so you have very little room for error when parking etc.
  13. was waiting for someone near the main road yesterday and watched a steady stream of 330s/M3s accelerating past over the course of about 10 mins and then I saw an RS4 for the first time. wow, the noise of them is just in a completely different league to the screaming BMWs.. I'd pay a lot of money for that. (guess thats why they're so pricey! :D )

    Tyre stretches

furkz' are some of the more stretched wheels on the forum...
  15. cool, the only problem is i don't think they'll match the good one you've still got so you'll end up wanting to change both.. normally best to see if someone will sell you a broken version of your good one..
  16. did you not see this thread?! :D
  17. now come on, don't try and tell us you've got a corrado with working mirrors! :D
  18. not sure why you're saying he should have 195 on a 7.5J wheel when that is the width for the standard valver 6.5j rim, that will be noticeably stretched. most people on 7.5 will be running 205s, on 17" this is mostly to avoid rubbing while maintaining decent sidewall height otherwise they could go 215 easily. livi1982 , if you're not looking for a stretched look on your tyres then 215/40/16 or 205/45/16 will be a better size.
  19. Thanks Kev, as said it needs a service soon so I'll get the guys to VAGCOM it and check it out. Just an unexpected thing to come across as the engine is normally so strong. Hopefully can be sorted out simply, although obviously its not something you want to be retesting over and over!
  20. Not a massive problem for everyday driving this, but something that didnt seem right anyway.... In some extensive, er, testing on a long straight private road last weekend, it seemed that the car was struggling somewhat over 120mph. It was like the sensation you get when you're running out of petrol - like the power would suddenly drop a little and then come back. It was intermittent but didn't go away like I was hoping it would. I'm not mechanical at all really and so can only make uneducated guesses at what it might be (fuel pump not keeping up/needs a new filter/struggling for airflow??). I haven't noticed this before but then I don't often drive it this fast so don't have that many experiences to go by. It was fine up to 120 and doesnt do the same at the top of the lower gears (obviously I was 4th and mostly 5th at this point). The car is due a service but then has only done 4-5000 miles since the last one (1 year ago). I wouldn't expect filters to be struggling after that relatively low number of miles or am I being naive in thinking that? Car is standard apart from Magnecor HT leads. Any thoughts?! Cheers John
  21. and sprinkle threats of violence to taste!
  22. Are those the ones from the mk3 (7x16) or from the mk4 (6.5 x 16)? Im looking for a set of these, there are a few for sale from the mk4 but its the mk3 ones i want as i want 7j wide as i have tyres that will fit them. Rob, Pauls are the "non-split" RX (not RXII) sold as one of BBS's stand-alone ranges and not (afaik) from any particular make or model. I think he got them from Darren at G-Werks but obviously most quality rim retailers will offer them. I think you can only get the 16" RXIIs second hand from the Golfs as BBS only sell them in 17" or higher as an independent range. Cheers! John
  23. am sure VR6 will be along soon with some helpful advice! :D
  24. Is almost a shame that those pics are inside Andy as I think the paintwork on your car is amazing and at least equal to anyone elses I've seen, so pics in the sun would have looked great too! Regarding the bumper, I think quite a few sit low whether its because they've been off at some point for work or repair, or just because thats how they came. We noticed quite a few "gappy" ones at one of the shows earlier in the year (cant remember which!) so not unusual. Don't know if its something you can fix by removing and refitting it yourself though..
