Will V6 4motion Haldex gearbox fit a 20v engine ????
Mike Edwards replied to biggerbigben's topic in Drivetrain
Does this mean you'll have a 4-motion engine going spare??? Phat - how do you go about fitting one of these things again? -
If this only happens with the wheels off the ground, this isn't a sign of wear. Fit Mk3 mounts instead - they're both cheaper and easier to replace.

The vents have to be forwards of the high pressure area immediately in front of the windscreen, otherwise it only works at low speeds. This assumes that you're try to get air out of the engine bay - you may want to get air in for some reason. Note: I'm talking about a Corrado - not other VW products (standard or modified).
-
That's airflow in. If you raise the rear of the bonnet, when you get the car moving you'll find that that also results in airflow in - and sod-all down the back of the engine (where the exhaust and engine wiring loom are...) BTW, my VR runs at even lower temperatures - but this is more to do with the age of the sensors than actual temperatures, as it used to run with an oil temp of 114 on the motorway and coolant temp of 90.

Hmmm.... Before I direct the lynch mob to your home address, a few observations/questions: :D Given that the base of the windcreen is one of the highest air-pressure areas on the car when it is moving (how do you think the ventilation system works with the fan off), what makes you think any air from under the bonnet would escape rather than being forced back in? VW went to a lot of trouble to seal the rear edge of the bonnet suggesting that they were trying to make the air flowing into the engine bay go somewhere else. In the event that any air is escaping from the rear of the bonnet following your mods, what do you think is now being left to cook?

The turbocharged BMW Formula 1 engine of the 1980s was a 1.5l engine - based on a standard production block - that made 1200bhp in qualifying trim. Apparently until they got the power output up past 700-800bhp the only modifications the block required were opening up the oilways... -
A toothbrush and your usual car shampoo will sort the moss.

The cost and quality of the job depends on who's doing it. For example, the guy who did it where I used to live did a very good job (you couldn't see any sign of a dent after he'd fixed it) but he knew it and charged £75 per dent. The guy who did it near where I used to work did almost as good a job but charged £50 per panel (so if you door had 3 dents, he'd fix them all for £50). A guy who was doing it at Inters a year or so ago was nowhere near as good as either of the above, but charged £25 per panel.

Depends on Franchise holder....

Heater cable issues, modified: please read new end part
Mike Edwards replied to Rossco's topic in Interior
Well, basically you've put it back together the wrong way. Can't say where you've gone wrong without a little more detail though... -
Looks like whoever it was that tried to pry the stereo out damaged the dash shell as well as the centre console molding. To get it out remove: Heater controls(retaining screwes hold the console in place as well); Stereo (makes things easier); Ashtray (retaining screw behind); Vents (retaining screw above passenger vent); Optional gauges (2 retaining screws behind); All the switches; The trim around the instruments (shares a retaining screw with the centre console).

Advance the timing and smooth out the fuelling curve to ensure it never runs lean? -

Still planning to keep the VR6 to fiddle with. But there is a LOT that you can do to a Mini - and as they're common as muck you don't feel as if you're destroying something unique. I'm planning that this years resolution will be to restrain myself from killing anyone who "Chav's" a Corrado*... *Note: I'm not including L450 KBW in that list, but I've seen several in the last year where both the car and owner deserve to be :onfire: ! -

Oh - and the Mini One is normally aspirated. But chipping it gives Cooper-like performance (also normally aspirated)suggesting that the difference is purely due to model seperation by Marketing types. Cooper S is supercharged - most sellers of remaps seem to be claiming a 5% increase with no other changes. Matching it to a 15% smaller pulley seems to up this to >20% (about 200bhp calculated at the flywheel). -

Yes - that was my point. Even though the temperature was over 10 degrees hotter there was an at-the-wheel increase of just over 8bhp. -
Very nicely damped, but springs that only really come into their own at 50+mph. The springs on the 4-cylinder kits are the same rating.

My comment on the Mini One was more to do with the suspicion that Marketing had decreed a level of engine performance to seperate it from the Cooper. As they hve the same engine perhaps its not all that surprising. -
See my earlier post... :D Come complete with adjusting spanners

Also - the before (March 2004) and after (June 2004) at the wheel figure shows an increase of a little over 8bhp even though the temperature was more than 10 degrees centigrade warmer and the car was a further 3 months on from its last survice... Like I say - it felt like it had that much more torque. BTW: On the comment about Marketing messing with performance? The new Mini One seems to be showing a ludicrous increase in power with a rechip pretty much independent of supplier. It's a normally aspirated FI engine. -
Yup! :D A couple of people on here also have them.

Oh - and Kev? While the throttlebody and ecu were the ones matched to the Shrick (torque curve as above), they weren't the only non-standard items that I've got.... :D -

Here's what the ecu, throttlebody and shrick was doing... -
The "tunnel" in front of the instruments needs to come off to give access to the retaining screws, as do the centre vents, heater controls and - as you say - the ashtray. What gauges were you thinking off btw?
-
The bolts that clamp the strut to the front upright on a VR6 (and presumably all late-model cars) allow the camber to be adjusted. The bolts fitted to early 4-stud cars don't allow any adjustment. It's not really a problem unless you're planning on a stupidly low ride-height. In which case the handling will be so bad anyway, there's no point in worrying...

What you want are a nice second-hand set of H&R items for a little under £300... :D
