Definately get the INOX ones - no brainer. Mine have been on for about 8 months and have got all kinds of crap over them. Though give them a wipe and they still look new! :D
-
Ok, just connected it up and vagcom'd it and no fault :D Cheers for the fast response Alex... VERY much appreciated! :salute: Gaz
-
Yes thats the one. Does Grey (lambda) connect to the yellow (ecu)?
-
Hi all, need some help QUICK! I need to know which colour wire on the lambda goes to which wire on the ECU loom? Lambda i have a black and a grey, on the ECU side i have a yellow and a white. Which coloured wire goes to which? Thanks in advance! Gaz

Cant help you IF it is dizzy as i've never removed one - though cant imagine it being hard at all. Coilpack - even a NUMPTY can do it  Firstly remove all the leads going into the coilpack and peel them back out of the engine plastic holders as you will need to remove the plastic. Unscrew the torx nuts and remove the plastics. You will then need an allen key or allen bit, as there are 4 allen bolts on each corner, they are quite long too. :D EDIT - or do you mean are HT leads easy to change. If so, yes just pull them off the coil pack, BUT you will need a HT lead removal tool to get the leads off the spark plugs. Search for 'zero' on here, who sells them

Mines a K '93 and has a coilpack.
-
Interesting, but will it actually happen!?
-
yeah maplins will do it, its just the spray you use to clear dust etc from computers.

 i did take longer then 5 mins to type that tbf as i was at work when i typed it and kept being disturbed... how DARE work get in my way during working hours! Kris, once youve changed the oil once you'll think why you ever paid anyone to do it for you? I laugh when i hear someone is taking their car to the garage for a service.

LOL, well I'm glad someone likes my scribings instead of being annoyed by them, which is usually the case with some people on here  They're not intended to be "Like it or lump it" though, but can come across as a bit "Clarkson" sometimes 8) My old MK1 16V was a rusty death trap and my foot fell through the floor of my mate's old Beetle after landing from "getting air" over humped bridge, so those things kind killed my love affair with old VWs  My ownership of an Allegro and a Cavalier nearly killed my love of cars off completely, but that's another story! Penfold, the Mouse himself and the Green one are the only characters I can remember :D[/quote:1e9i14il] That describes it beautifully. You come across as a bit 'Clarkson like' -
5.5litre - its in the book  Changing the oil is easy peasy. You will need set of spanners or sockets (well one, i forget the size), a set of ramps or axle stands and an a set of allen keys (again forgot size). Its simply a case of taking the car for a good blast to get the oil hot. Then get it up on the ramps and remove the sump plug nut from the rear of the sump, drain the oil into something. The oilfilter housing is at the front of the engine, behind the bumper, just behind where the reg plate is. The black oilfilter housing screws off, you'll need a large spanner, but you're best draining the housing of oil first by taking off the metal cap with an allen key. The oilfilter itself attaches to the black housing you've just taken off simply screw back on along with the housing drainage plug. You will need to leave the oil draining from the sup for maybe 10-15 mins. Then replace the sump plug again - or oil will go in the top and back out the bottom  - messy :( Then drop the car back to the floor and fill with oil. I generally put 5 - 5.25 litres of oil and then allow the oil to sink to the bottom of the engine and check the level. You can always add more oil, but not take it out. Job done. Gearbox oil doesnt need changing half as often but maybe worth changing it if you suspect its never been done. Cant help you with that as ive not done it myself. HTH EDIT - damn typed all that just to be beaten to it  Oh and as above 3k is a little early, leave it to 6 if you want. but 10k - 12k is the norm.

That's the thing, "Great" is too subjective and open to interpretation. For example, I personally wouldn't put VW in the top 5. I can't stand any of the air cooled VWs, or MK1s, or Sciroccos. I don't see what is "great" about an ugly, rusting panel van with a severely underpowered engine. Same applies to Beetles, notchbacks, squarebacks, Baron Greenbacks or any other kind of back involving a wheezy, pathetic little air cooled engine, but some folk love them :D ! The MK2, Corrado and MK5 GTI are the ONLY dubs I like and 3 cars just aren't enough to justify "consistently great" in my book :D I haven't given this much, if any, thought tbh cause I don't give a rats tbh..... but two car makers who, imo, have made a long line of "great" cars are Jaguar and BMW. I always enjoy reading your posts Kev. The this is my opinion, like it or lump it attitude :notworthy:  Brilliant. And we love the old dubs exactly for that reason they've slow and rusty  I love em! -

A BIG BIG thanks to Josh (mariojoshi) & Stu (StueyB) for the Miltek Sports CAT. They were kind enough to hold the CAT for me with a small deposit, for a week. It was very well packed and delivered quickly :D Highly recommended to other buyers! Cheers fellas! -
Had something similar happen to me, the main beam worked fine until i put full beam on and the main beam just turned off with no full beam  - i did wonder why when i flashed people to let them go they didnt react, thought it was them being daft. But no the full beam didnt work  Anyway, the problem was that water had got into the relays, because id just used insulation tape round them. Would be worth taking the relays out nad taking the cover off them to check if water has got inside. If that is the case, maplins sell the relays you want. I've now put my relays in a small bag and sealed with insulation tape. Doesnt look pretty but stops water getting in, plus you cant really see it too much cos its tucked between the passenger headlight and battery.

I'd like to say i dont envy you, but i do! Would love to drive one of those babies... they're a sexy motor. Saw a white one today actually and i fell in love with it. Dont normally like white cars, but the right car can look damn good in white and the R8 is one of those cars. 8) They do a 4.2 V8 Diesel too. That would be strange, driving a diesel supercar  -

tbh i enjoyed that more then the one i saw last week. Ok it was more the entertainment side then the car reviewing side of the programme, but i enjoyed it.. even enough to have a few giggles through it. Oh and i'd definately take the R8 over the Corvette :pukeleft: -
Cheers OSV! I'll try the jubilee trick. As i found mine knocked on the bumper. So i fitted a stiffer and slightly longer powerflex mount, which dropped the tail pipe a little, all is well..... well not quite. Now it knocks on the rear axle. I may put the original rubber mount on that supersprint provided and try the jubilee trick. As for the KW, i love them. Yes because the roads are shoite EVEYWHERE in Britain, the ride can be hardER and less compromised. But they are after all, coilovers. But i love them, not only does the car sit so much better, it also feels like its on rails and they settle quickly going over bumps. I would highly recommend them, im not sure what they're like compared to other decent coilovers, as ive only got cheapo v-maxx ones to compare to or H&R springs with koni shocks. But im definately happier with the KWs. Oh and they've been fitted about 7 months but still look like they've just been fitted. Definately recommend the Inox version of the KWs.

I asked this very question above. Would like to know also!

£20 + VAT sheeeesh... they have gone up. Good luck with that swift. You best get a nice cushion to put on the pedals to rest your head on, with your legs on the seat

For the sake of a tenner for a genuine part you may as well change it. When i changed the switch i too a hammer to the plastic casing which fell out allowing me to access the screw easy. I then just cable tied the new switch back in place.

^^ the Eddie Jordan speech bubble is spot on! Yup button along side hamilton at mclaren, will be interesting...

Its not a loose wire going to the back of the stereo? Saying that, occasionally, when i've turned the car off for say 5-10 mins and turn it back on. The stereo has reset itself. I've checked the wires are all connected well so may be could be the ignition switch. Cant see how though
