I had this too whenever battery ran flat [company car for 3 yrs], also when silly stealers pulled off the battery cable, without first key-isolating the alarm. :cuckoo: It was a Scorpion with rectangular case and ultrasonic de-activate slide switch on the side. The car passed to VAG-hag who may still have the Scorpion manual. I recall at best the system was re-instated something like Timmaaah described, but unfortunately on 2 or 3 occasions it had to go back with ecu and both fobs to the UK importers in Lancs [Wigan I think] for re-programming. About 3 yrs ago local stealer declined to deal with it and recomended fitting a Clifford - which VAG-hag duly did & had no further probs with it. Sorry to be such a harbinger of dismal news. On the bright side, recently invested in an Airflow battery conditioner which automatically senses battery voltage and switches charging on/off whenever needed, ie without risk of overcharge. KIPVW & VAG-hag also have them and we thoroughly recomend them.

Hey Leon - did you get 'em then? I reckon they'll be really smart all in leather. 8) I'm stickin' with my Konigs - had an issue with seat height, now resolved by re-bolting the driver's side, as there's no height adjust.

Yes - Audi 80's ringing a bell now! Still prefer them nearer to eyeline though - for us 'cojers with dim eyes & slower reactions.
-
Eh..? Sound choice of seat when all's said & done.

Fair point Tom!!!

Say Karl - seen any more all in black leather? :D

It certainly looks pretty OEM! Thanks for the info/advice.

I don't know the OBD1 loom at all but I am pretty sure that it uses a Lambda sensor, in which case you just cut into the feed, purple I think. flicker? Do you mean off of a digital boost gauge? Mine is a mechanical that shows VAC as well as boost, looks pretty cool and gives you an idea of how to drive it when the engine is cold i.e. off of boost as well as making sure you are still hitting the right amount of boost on WOT. Does your A/F gauge get its signal from lambda then? Did you buy in the gauge mounting board - or did you make it?

Hadn't thought of a digital boost gauge, though I can see it could more easily smooth out the flicker electronically. But the flicker I'm referring to is what you get with most pressure and flow readings of fluids, air or oil generally in cars, often smoothed out by use of an inline "snubber". Some mechanical gauges must be better at the smoothing effect than others?

Yes! - I prefer that layout too [gauges nearer your eyeline] - must get round to it! Can you get the A/F signal off an unmolested OBD1 setup? What's the best boost gauge to go for ie one with minimal flicker?

Gotcha! Thanks Toad. :D

Nah, 1 for left dipped and 1 for right dipped, and 1 for left and right full beam Why so? Can't see the logic. :?
-
Forgive my ignorance - but are the 2 relay looms for dipped & heads, 3rd relay for front fogs?

ONLY reason for big wheels :| Philistine!! :norty:
-
ish! - there are some pretty adequate/heavy brakes under 15" & 16" as guys like crazydave will confirm. :)
-
LOL I didnt mean buy that type of wheel specifically, just trying to show how big 17's look. I agree I nice 5 spoke 16 would probably be the way to go :D Fair comment - 17" for looks, 16" for best compromise - rings a bell! 18" - really think another car body should be considered!

Can't be arsed cleanin' splits wi' all those bolts! :cuckoo: Give me CV's, RX's or Oettingers anyday.

If that's sorted then it's a deal! :D

What do you buy the Corrado owner who has everything?
Philmo replied to Timbo's topic in General Car Chat
Jeez! - Wouldn't fancy the lower section of the Karousel on a pushbike - bad enough on VAG-hag's rockhard coilies! [Though they do become compliant when thoroughly warmed up.] -

Right! - If Kip had one - he'd only develop un uncontrollable compulsion to take it round the 'Ring! -
Do I detect some spare red-tops? How many miles have they done? & Are they for sale? :confused4:

Hey! She hasn't had her 13th birthday yet! [must be the photography!] Though in dog years I guess she's nearer 89! Hi Judith - yes you do remember them all don't you - took me 8 yrs to do 100k in my first C, 2/3rds of it in the first 2 years! What a feast of driving that was, back in 96/97! :norty:

I'll second that! The torque curve tells you all you need. Power can be derived.
