A drive in a Golf or Bora 4 Motion would convert you - much smoother & torquier with 24v, even with 100cc less swept vol.
-
Indeed - nicely balanced Cayman with just a little Rotrex to tweak it upto 400 ish bhp. :norty:

Have a word with Joni re bkts - he's recently hit & resolved all the probs with them.

Crank seal and clutch were being replaced on the one we saw prior to it being sold which seemed pretty fair :) And in terms of getting a force fed VR, this is something I was chatting about with Wendy on the way home from the test drive. Comparatively would give a lot of bang for buck but there is still ultimately going to be the sheer 'prestige' from having a Porsche parked on your driveway rather than a VW! It must be nice having a Corrado which can mop the floor with M3's, etc but I'd still have an M3 or 911 over a Corrado any day! 911 [GT2] on the drive - anytime - the joy of operating superbly designed & crafted machinery! M3 ? maybe to replace the Bora, provided it had a tailor-made muted exhaust - std one's far too chavvy!
-
Wendy Don't blame you for considering these, especially GT2's - but I did read a review which warned that early 996's had weak crank seals, clutch end, which is a lump-out job - and because sales were slow in 2001/02 a fair few 2001 mftr yr actually masquerade as 2002 regs. Happy testing! PS - is a Carrera 2 really worth bothering with when a decent blown C will eat it for breakfast?

It's in the garage!

Pretty impressive results, Drew. :notworthy: [i still think you should get an informed opinion on the use of the corporate abreviation "DOS" - as when you start getting noticed big time, and make a few quid - that's when Bill Gates' legal eagles will take an interest in you and the depth of your pocket, with painful results!] [You must be aware that "DOS" = disc operating system? ie a trademarked title, owned by MIcrosoft!]
-
Congratulations! Your C looks quite a find. :D

and thinking ..."she never went that far with me" :norty: May be a time when sloppy seconds isn't such a bad thing ;)[/quote:oe270fst] Prefer to have my wheels nice and tight!

fitting aftermarket speakers in orinigal door pods!!
Philmo replied to Chris Langdon's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
VAG-hag put some aftermarket speakers in his C & iirc we had to do a certain amount of surgery to achieve a fit. If he doesn't see this - give him a pm. :) -
Left stranded, car towed cos of insurance error.

Yes they're a bit keen on that run from Grimethorpe to Jn 36 [used to be part of one of my favourite circuits!] Did your bro get a note of the errant police officer's ID? The PC [politically crap?] could have used his judgement, erred on the safe side, and given yr bro a producer, having checked his address out. -

Wasn't aware of that! [and have been drivin' 43 yrs] By driving docs - do you mean licence and ins cert? Surely not log book & MOT cert as well? -
Yes - love those RX's!

Old car scrappage scheme - it's kicking off!
Philmo replied to Sonicriot13's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks for the clarification Jim. What a total waste of potentially sound resource! :cuckoo: -
Nice one Joni - one to watch! I note your 6 branch doesn't boast a 2 bolt to 3 bolt articulated flange - if it's a Raceland - I've found you can get these [took quite a few months to get there mind] from a very friendly, English speaking guy, Olivier at Raceland [[email protected]]. Is that a heat isolating inlet gasket I see under the 6B? If so, may I ask where you sourced it & how much? Keep up the good stuff.

Old car scrappage scheme - it's kicking off!
Philmo replied to Sonicriot13's topic in General Car Chat
I think I understand the scheme Jim! It's not yet clear what is required to happen to the traded in cars. Either they will be a cheap source for sub-£2k traders or they will be a cheap source for the efficient end of the scrap/recycle industry as the stealers will be funded to write off the inconvenient lumps by you & me! The sooner we sack Brown Darling & Co the better! -

Philmo replied to Sonicriot13's topic in General Car Chat
So the stealers are throwing in the £1k discount they would have offered anyway! Ergo good ol' UK is taking on more debt to fund greedy manufacturers/dealers and dear Darling takes a pat on the back from an oversized motor industry! And how many people, who are about to splash a good few £k on a new car, currently run a sub £2k model? I wonder if pre-registered cars will qualify? Ne'r mind - it'll be good for sub-£2k motor business. -
A ball breaker - especially when they get trapped between a commercial development that goes awry and the strife. I feel for you mate. :( Havin' said all that stuff it does look a gem in the makin'. For instance, apart from what's under the skin, tasty wheels & colour selection. Is it a mystic?

You must be in heaven! Pity I'm not keen on Guinness though.
-
You jest surely? After all the sweat & tears - not mention what should surely be a sublime result?
-
Maybe - but if you like the VR as a seriously innovative and smooth engine - looks like opportunities are running out to bag a sensibly sized car powered by VR. A well converted R32 C must be favourite  followed by R32 Golf as a consolation A3 quattro [if you have the dosh 135 or 335 coupes?] :ignore:

Yeah but that was before the truth was known, if Trulli had cheated a place then he deserved to lose his place, I still think it's a bit harsh to totally exclude Maclaren from the result but if they're not appealing against the decision then that says it all really!! Indeed it does - they knew full well that the radio record should have been submitted. In any case - Malaysia's v close - must look forward, spilt milk 'n all that.
-
So ideally the exhaust config & cams you use should be tailored to suit the induction method used? I haven't yet come across any cams which purport to support natural or blown applications specifically. Is this something for the future?

Where did you source your kit from? Mine came with the car Neil. VAG-hags hose & sandwich plate were std Mocal [2nd hand from Toad] and I think the jumbo cooler matrix came from Karl. [Maybe Chris will correct me on that.] BTW the jumbo matrix came with odd threads on [a BSP and American mix] - readily sorted by a local hydraulics specialist. If anyone wants the name/No shout out.
-
So with Karl's old 6 branch and Shaun's old 2.5" two box - the flow on mine should be about right? Hope the volume's reasonable! [i've decided to re-name her Second-Hand-Rose, as well!]
