I actually saw a P reg (aug 96 on) Rado in the flesh today, I'm pretty sure there aren't too many of them around but of course it doesn't mean it was one of the last produced just one of the last registered.

I saw 2 white c's parked together in a works car park when I was in Dorking. Anyone on here?

VR tappets are hydraulic so they are gonna be noisy without any oil in there. Stick some oil in straight away and see if it stops. Running the engine without oil is gonna wreck the bearings! Did the oil light come on at any time?

The thing is though PhatVR6 the controls are still stiff with the blower off, they definately shouldn't be like that. They are just a little easier to turn with the blower off.

Yeah there is still a problem but at least you can turn the direction control without breaking it with the blower off. I must have a look at what's causing it on mine when I get time. You would think VW would have cured this 10+ years on :roll: Thanks for the compliment. :)

Any older relative (over 30 is a bonus) will do.

One thing I would suggest you younger guys try is to put an older female on your policy as a named driver (your mother for example), this will almost always bring your premium down and sometimes by a surprising amount. In fact it works for us older guys too :lol:

Sounds like a lot of late rados. I don't know why but my direction control is much easier to turn when the fan setting is switched to the off position. Worth a try if you haven't already.

What was the oil temp when the light was flashing? I think the buzzer only sounds due to high oil temperature.

The ABV engine is the 2.9 fitted to the Euro spec Corrado, the AAA engine is the 2.8 engine fitted to the Golf and the US spec corrado. Early VR6 engines (both ABV and AAA) had dizzy's fitted, later ones had coilpacks. I'm not sure when the changeover from dizzy to coilpack took place, although yours (1992) is an early VR so I think yours would be a dizzy type.
