I've got conti's on my C and the level of grip is astonishing dry or wet. I've had a couple of occasions where I thought I had outbraked myself on bends and expected the car to continue straight on only to find it has gripped better than I expected! I don't think I would use anything else.

Yeah I think Silver and polished rims is the way to go and the black bolts look good too.

After spending many hours cleaning, polishing and waxing the car yesterday and this morning I thought I would take some pics before it got dirty again. Roll on the summer! :)

I can understand you wanting a faster rado but at 18 the insurance is gonna start getting really steep for a bigger engine. The 16v isn't a bad car by any means and I'm sure there are lots of 18 year olds who would be more than happy to have any Rado (hope that doesn't sound patronising). As others have said get some quotes before you go ahead and get any work done on an engine change.

16v you have a little slice of history there and it would be a shame to start changing things around too much. If it's only a valve problem I would look at getting it sorted. Don't take the first diagnosis and quote as gospel but try a few places and see what opinions you get back.

If it is the auxillary water pump you would nornally see water on top of the gearbox near to the rubber grommit that you remove to check the timing marks on the flywheel. If there's no water there after a run then it probably isn't the pump.

The symptoms you explain are not normal for a VR.

Yeah that made me laugh too :lol: Good job it was just a faulty dash pod or she might have been looking at a new set of bearings!!

It's pretty poor of Audi to take so long to admit there is a problem and take some positive action but at least TT owners have finally got a good result.

Did anyone see Watchdog on BBC1 tonight? Audi seem to have a problem with the TT dash pod. Lots of customers complaining that the fuel, temp gauges read faulty, oil pressure warning comes on when there isn't a fault and the display flickers on and off. Audi have now admitted that there is a problem with these units and they will replace them free of charge, although they had been charging customers around £800 to replace them before Watchdog got involved! Maybe the rado isn't so bad after all :)

I'll second that, my auxillary water pump leaks and it seems to be a common problem on the VR, definately worth checking.

G3BOD - I think you could find one with lower mileage for that kind of money. Air conditioning was only ever fitted at the stealers and never from the factory. You could always open the sunroof when it's hot, just make sure it tilts and slides properly. :wink:

I love the car mate, it looks seriously cool. I think that is the most glossy paint finish I have ever seen!!! Just one thing, isn't there something missing..... Where the hell is the bonnet? :lol:

Had an indicated 140mph from my vr and i know my speedo is reading 5mph over across the range but there seemed to be plenty left in reserve, just had to slow up due to upcoming obstructions :wink:

I'm running continentals on my 15's and the grip is very good in the wet and dry.

Spotted a silver c with private plate 2** on the M4 westbound around jct 2-3 on Thursday (1st pic, a bit dark as it was early) A blue c parked up in Hayes Middlesex (2nd pic) And a Green VR in on the A320 in Chertsey who I let out to get past a broken down truck. I was in a 7.5t truck (3rd pic)
