  1. The Golf VR BBS look pretty slick I think.

    Speedo Chrome dials

Cheers for that buddy, think i'll have a purchase of those. Since they're behind the plastic the finish of the metal is unlikely to get any worse!

    Speedo Chrome dials

Sounds cool to me. Black tape on the actual instrument cluster? Any pics mate?
  4. I know the DDI ones are probably the best to get but don't know if i can stretch to the $85 at the minute! Anyone tried these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DIAL-RINGS-VW-VOL ... dZViewItem Or can recommend a decent alternative to the DDI's?

    Clutch Went Pop!

Thanks for the reply, what problems have you had with GSF bits? I've got most of my VR and G60 stuff from there and am yet to have a problem. I was thinking along the lines of getting most of it from VAG and seems to be the common response.

    Clutch Went Pop!

Seem to have settled on the following list to sort out my car Clutch, chains & tensioners, valve stem seals head gasket & bolts. Gonna get some Silkolene as well after a chat with oilman My question is where do people recommend getting these bits from? Is GSF stuff Ok or should i stick to VW?

    Clutch Went Pop!

Thanks for the advice guys. Clutch and chains/tensioners are definites just was considering if its worth throwing more money at it. I'm not that great with a spanner but got some good mates who are, so I won't have to spend TOO much on labour, just buy them a drink or 3! Fidanza... flywheel? What about engine mounts, worth changing? Vibratechnics still the daddies?

    Clutch Went Pop!

It's still on the original chains & although they MIGHT last a lot longer I thought I'd rather be safe than sorry :) . Why do you say that?
  9. Sooooooooooo it's a 93 VR with 127k miles. Engine has been running well but with a bit of blue smoke on the overrun. It has started smoking slightly under acceleration as well now. Anything i can do to find out if it's head or bottom end? Anyway yesterday clutch went bang so I'm gonna try and kill as many birds with one stone as I can. Gonna change clutch & have chains done as well for definite. Anything else that people would recommend? Cheers in advance Jay

    Carbon Canister

Thats what i thought mic_VR but theres no sucking from either pipe??

    Carbon Canister

Just a quickie why do i have two clear pipes? Binned the carbon canister a while ago for a BMC air feed and went to have a look after reading this thread and I have two clear ones. I get that one is a vacuum and the other is a vent but neither seem to be sucking any air in? Do i still bother to block one off?
  12. What caliper paint did you use Goldie?
  13. Nah after the remap i'm pretty much done... i think!! I've seen 16's with 312's but i'm 99% sure that 288's will be fine. Looks like you've given me the 1% I was missing! Is it an instant difference you find... or more push the pedal harder & there's the difference?
  14. ^^^^^^ Beat me to it^^^^^^^^^ Was just looking for that! All you need to know is there Crooky just wait for a cold night full of dense air! If you can't hear it then who knows!.......
  15. Those Kia Prides are fairly rapid!!!
  16. You should DEFINITELY be able to hear the G-Lader!! Maybe you were expecting a high pitched whine a la eaton type chargers found on Mini Cooper S for example? The G60 is a bit more subtle, much deeper & if it's totally standard i'd expect it to be a lot quieter than a GTS-T. Are you sure its not just an 8v :D In all seriousness wait til you get the charger serviced or you'd need to compare it to someone local with a G60?
  17. Glad to hear you're enjoying these! They are next on my list along with a remap. I've got 16's so I could probably fit bigger under there but i fancy retaining some originality. Plus i also understand the difference between 280's and 288's is massive (Thanks to the calipers mainly) but after that the difference is quite small.
  18. Yeah...damn her spelling... ^^^^^^ :-P It was a joke mate! Was trying to be ironic but if i have to explain it I guess it just isn't funny!
  19. Looks wicked mate, the pic in your sig makes the Speedlines look bigger than 15 as well! Top job!
  20. Aren't the first set Borbet E's? Excellent wheel choices I think, both of them look like they could be factory spec and both look the part 8) . I had BBS RX on my G60 and very nearly bought Borbet E for my VR and neither will disappoint. Personally i would say 17s for looks but 16s as a comprimise as they still fill the arch nicely and won't give you crashy ride or tramlining.
  21. Patrick, don't encourage him! Saw his G60 for the 1st time the otherday and it sounds lovely! Al is busy with a certain VSR Saturday! Back on topic though RWD must transform the way a Corrado drives, would be cool to find out what its like! (We just need to wait for Stel to see this and volunteer his guinea pig.... i mean car!)
