Yeah i'm in 100% agreement with you. Had a deeper one one on a G60 i used to have but the VR just doesn't look quite right with the 50mm. Mines on coilovers anyway so i'll just raise it til it doesn't scrape anymore! (Jay goes off to find a 90mm chin spoiler :D )
-
Very nice Rick. Hardly looks like anything has been done to it but then those are the best kind of mods! 8) I've been debating whether to get a 90mm chin spoiler as it means i'll have to raise the suspension a touch... but I think you've made my mind up. Where did you get yours from?

Very nice... tints are bit OTT and not sure about the DTM tailpipe but other than that 8) Always nice to see an engine bay thats been looked after. IMO says alot about the owner and how they'd treated the car -
Hi mate, you should have no problems there. I had the same predicament! I was sure that I read somewhere that it was for dizzy engines only but since learnt that its an OBD1 engine only manifold (unless you do some major cutting/welding) I had my VSR on a dizzy engine and it's now on a coilpack lump and running well (although i havent seen it :( ) As above when i get it back from the Phirm its off to Stealth for a remap!
-
to be honest i think its all depends on the rest of the car... Porsche use yellow for their ceramic brakes but we don't call them chavvy.... Ferrari use red as standard and we don't slate those either!? If a Saxo with an 8 inch exhaust and red/yellow calipers (or drums :D ) drove past then its pretty safe to say its a bit chavvy. In my opinion you can get away with most colours... as long as the rest of the car is cool.
-
I went for red on my 288's 01072007207.jpg[/attachment:a66de] guess that makes me a chav :? . Goldie on here has done the same on his Green Storm and they look the part

looks like i'll have a spare mate.... managed to get a black one from bigpants. you still interested?
-
Another vote for the BMC. Sharpens up the acceleration and as a bonus with the cold air feed on it could be almost stock until you take it past about 3K !
-
I guess you can never have enough engines lying around!! If I do have a spare cam cover lying around I'll let you know mate. My old lump was going to go in a mates golf but he wants to go OBD2... So I might have a lump for sale soon!!
-
Wondered how long it'd take for you to notice this! I'll powder coat the VSR black eventually... maybe. for now though i'll just get the black cam cover and i'm halfway there!
-
Yeah.. good news travels fast! It would have been rude not to take the 268's really! Saw the engine today and the cover looked pretty much the same as mine... once i get it back a lil treatment with some Autoglym engine cleaner might sort it out. But looking a a mates golf VR i suddenly got all jealous of his black cover! just think it matches the engine plastics which i like...
-
nice work mate. Car's at the garage at the mo having a certain engine fitted... i'll have a look at it when it comes back and see if the new one is in better condition
-
To be honest the VSR has seen better days! Might get it powder coated in black but until then the grubby cam cover has to go! Any idea how much the cam cover is?
-
Top man Goldie. Any reason i shouldnt swap em. Just want to do it for the under bonnet appearance really. So the covers are interchangable as long as you have the matching gasket? anyone have a clue how much these bits are from VW?
-
Yeah thats what i was on about, my car has a metal one that is pretty grubby. Don't wanna polish it or anything like that but can i swap the late black plastic one onto my lump?
-
If I'm correct the later VRs come with a black cam cover as opposed to the early metal ones. Is this purely a cosmetic thing that i can retro fit to mine? Anyone got one going if it is?
-
As the title says really, got some LED sidelights to go in but hate seeing yellow mainbeams at the same time. Anyone recommend main bulbs that produce white/blue light to match. Not so blue that they look silly though... :D Cheers in advance
-
That was my line of thinking, Rixy on here is selling a newly refurbed head and i was going to buy that until my clutch went and then i bit the bullet & bought double-6 whole engine!
-
Mine was doing the exact same thing. I'd pull up to a junction after letting the engine do the braking and loads of blue smoke would sail past my window :( Was told by more than one garage that it was valve stem oil seals... quoted 5 hours in labour to fix it.

Another vote for the Borbet E climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdf19052007090.jpg[/attachment:fa797] or C 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfImage003.jpg[/attachment:fa797] Or my current favourite (and a good excuse for me not to get BBS LM's as they dont come in 16's!) Keskin KT4....Rado_019.jpg[/attachment:fa797]
