Hi. yeah I did some investigating. Found a screw hole no screw? It was stuck on with double sided???? All the clips are broke? Try some window poly for the time being. Get hold of another. I'll take alook at the mirror whilst i'm there. The panel is lifting at speed. So maybe its making the bulk of the noise. Cheers all
-
Hi all. I think my windnoise on the drivers side is coming from this panel. It can be lifted with fingers and at speed it has started to lift. I guess its damaged already but I have no desire to bust it. How does it lift off.
-
Nice. Do you think cutting the panel weakens it any? Just a thought would it no be wise to maybe weld in a couple of 45 degree supports?

Wow great minds think alike. That is what I did. Just span em off with a drill. Yes they do get hot  Well job is done. Took me an hour. All in all very pleased. mechanisam went in a doddle really. I just need one more rivet for the top. My rivets were a bit shallow so get a pack of long ones for that. So elecy window I have again. Have photo's will post em later. Motor mountrs need clearing out of rivet body. Easily done. Place mount in vice and use a drill to spin the rubber washer of. Drop out rivet and use super glue to rebond. Cheers Carpy. Mounts seperated Once clear and rebonded they should look like this. New mechanisam being offered up. Mechanisam slipping into place. Slide all way to far end. Tilt and slide up. Making sure top armature is inside the window glass. ie closer to you and not behind glass. Pop the window arms in place. I just popped the glass rollers of the old mechanisam and then removed them from the runners. Replace these with your rollers from your new mechanisam. They may be worn to suit your new mechanisam. Don't want em popping off when you have all the door back together. Once all is in place. Hook central rod onto the clips in the door panel and pop rivet back into place. Do the motor last. Now lift the window and replace the two 10mm bolts that actually attach to the window. Connect button and admire handywork. Job done. Took me about and Hr to refit mech.

Hay carpy25 . What did you sue o heat up the motor mounts. I see what ya mean they are built to absorb alot of stress. Bet the motor flex's on em a bit. Getting ready to do the deed so just wanted any details ya may have.

Hi. Cheers for the reply. Was looking at the motor mounts and thinking what? Will a pop rivet fasten to that.. I guess it does. As for cuts.. I got a real nice skin graze on my elbow. It bled like a good en. You know the sought not a cut more like arghh I tore my skin off as I pulled my arm out from holding the window up.. Shall have fun nodoubt when doing it tomorrow. Had some today fitting a new ignition switch, what a mare the little screw was!!
-
Just removed my mech and motor. Well I'm not looking forward to putting that lot back in tomorrow  Really the top section was a mare. Rest was easy enuff. get a big thing out a small hole.... :-P The motor has some rivet mounts on it. Do these need cleaning out to be used again. They have the remains of the rivets in em. Could you bolt the motor in place?

Hi. No wories. The answer is no you don't have to remove the dash. However its a big job. Some cracking photo's on teh forum of cars in bits if ya search. You can do like I did and slip the heater box out. If you are lucky the Matrix securing screws will not be in place and the box will slip off and leave the matrix hanging in place. Then its just a case of remove n replace. Look at my first photo on this post. The dash is in place and everything else is out. This was my 1st job on the car so I went for it. If was to do it again it would be easier. Remove centre dash panel and kick panels. Centre heater vents ect. Then remove nut at rear of base centre console on dash. Remove x2 bolts from engine bulkhead these secure the heater box. Remove control cables from box and also fan chanel spring clips. Box should then move. Ease out and have fun. If the matrix is secured by two top screws you will have to remove matrix pipes. Two spring clips at bulkhead and ease the whole lot out. Once out slip matrix out and replace. As Haynes say refitting is teh reverse of removal. hahahahhahahaha  Anymore get back to me.

If you read the whole post I did a write up. Its all in these two pages

The slam panel will need to be cut. In the pic see the holes in the middle of the slam panel, its being trimmed back to where those holes are and it will then be a perfect fit. This needs to be done on both sides. I will do a step by step tomorro as its all being fitted then. Cool I was asking as I'm about to start work on a front IC install myself. Using a Mitsubishi IC. I can TIG weld and a guy I know has the kit to move tubes on the IC HEHEHE Fun for all. Def better than the standard porridge IC.
-
Its 2 bolts that look like nuts !!! Also the blower chanel fastens the same but its hidden down in the depths. Really had me those did. How does the f*******in thing fasten.. Was doing it on my parents drive. Mum came out with a 'magic cup of T' Maybe it fastens in there. Pointing at the engine  Oneday will have cash for a bentley..
-
Oh wright. So its only the half cog that is conected to the shaft n flap...Phnaar Intreresting. Will be a quick fix though. Pleanty of heater box's around in breakers for ya to get cogs off. Have you had chance to investigate the offending box?
-
Nice IC install. Great price to. keep us informed will be nice to have step by step instructions. Did you have to move the rad or cut the slam panel to fit it?
-
Its easy. Jackup the car. Slide under the front. have to hand a torch and a long screwdriver. When under the car use torch and find the bonett slam springs. These are were the bonett pins locate. Once found use screcriver reach up and prise the spring back. Bonett open.. :D Used it loads as my car had no cable when i bought it. Now back to normal ahh a cable and lever you can;'t beat em. Previous owner removed it as an anti theft thing
-
I think the cog is held with 3 clips. Would be hard to get it out mindyou if its knackered it will be easier. Then press the new cog home. It may be a cable clip that has popped. If the cables are not held in place the mech will not work. Prob just as easy to remove the box. Its held in place at the bulkhead and loads of spring clips for the fan air channel. Don't do like I did and rag it off  Ah I'll be needing that from the scrappers then also!!!!! If ya pull the box you may be lucky and the matrix will stay in place and slide out. Mine did but as I had never done this before the whole experience was a learning curve. infact the C has thrown me back into cars full on. So much work and no manual!! Loved every minute of it though. Mine is running now and the otherday the elecy window went!! Snapped cable Still my cash my car.
