Just gutted really after a 6 month rebuild it was wicked to drive. I reckon I hit teh tree at 50 the just spun in the Rd hit a load of mud so I was just a passenger really. As for T cut n polish.....Yes mates were laughing last night. Bit of body filler and it'll be fine  Cheers all such is life now to rebuild another C???? -

Belive I'm not. I am gutted. Totally gutted. My mate just said smile its a Kodak moment. 1 for the fridge magnet. No not pleased at all. To much work went in to her. All gone. Stillblinding 1.9 engine with rebuilt head, rebuilt charger and all new main bearings in the gearbox. Do I get a 60 again or a VR?? Car will never be repaired. Not a chance. -
Well said that man...Bang on It was made to be driven.

 Yes my perfect car has gone. Hit some mud on country back Rd last evening. Car spun and went backward into a tree. She is bent. Gutted I am all my work gone in afew seconds. 6 month rebuild. Only on the Rd from June this year. Front end is perfect so engine n running gear is fine. Car still drives of a fashion Lol. Up very early this morning. I'm aching real bad. Head took a hit somewhere in the moment and shoulder is killing I guess from the belt. Oh I fitted the spacesaver after the moment. Rear arch was crushed against the wheel. Spun off the 17 and dropped that onto give it some turning ability. So will be looking for a new Corrado very soon.

Try heating the pump body. Use a paint gun. This will expand the thread holes and help loosen up the snapped stud.
-
OK bolts shear off. Can ya remove the plastic elbow? Will it just pull down and off? If so then you may be lucky and have a length of thread sticking out from the water pump. If ya do then get a pair of grips, mole grips. clamp these on and waggle the bolt thread. Do this as it will break any corrosion grip the pump threads will have. Then twist out the snapped stud. Pity I don't live down there any more. Coul;d have popped over n looked at it. Failing this you will be best fitting a whole new water pump. £30 from VW. That is an easy job. Good luck. get back if ya need any help.

All these things are a pain  Boil kettle and pour in pan on heat. Drop stat in and it should open within 30 sec. They work weird nothing seems to happen then when you look at it again its open. The centre disc will slowley depress and open up about an inch or so. Watch for the other end moving forward. All three of mine worked in the pan but in car

I tend to agree with your 'I have or may have a blockage' Also Claire def get the new plastic housing for the stat. Always nice when it cracks and yr doing it on a Sunday  So my rad is hot all the way down. I even drilled 2 1mm holes in the stat to stop a pos air bubble and still it will not pull through. 3 stats now. I have many cooling probs with the car. All very manageble now but when 1st had the car oh man.... As soon as I remove the stat the whole system is fine. Obviousley as Winter comes on the heater n engine temp will prob suffer a bit? What ya sugest bud. I recently flushed the Rad top and bottom it seemed to run well enough??

Wow we really do have same problems. I run the car with no thermostat at all. Nowt but trouble. I fit em get airlocks n all soughts. No matter how I fill the car. Say from top hose or where ever no difference. I bought an 80°C stat the otherday. A Neuspeed item still no difference. Always a cold lower hose and a red hot top hose. No stat in the car all is well. Interesting your car having the relays mine does not

Hi. You seem to be having trouble same as me. My 60 has no fan action. It never has and teh car has a documented history of overheating. 3 headgasket jobs plus a 4th by me and a cylinder head skimming. I have replaced my thermoswitch 3 times and still no fan??? The run on circuit should be fine aslong as the fan has power. My run on always worked. Now I have my rad fan set to a dash mounted switch and it wrks fine. All the switch does is really short the circuit as you yourself have done. Its just a bit more controlled. You may want to look at the thread I started here It would be interesting to see if you have the relays nr your water expansion bottle. I posted a photo of a part on ebay.

Well I was at an interview for a new job Nr Stanstead airport this week. On the way home my boost pipes bust like a field gun with a grenade down the barrel. So I stopped in at Not Escorts in St Neots (Cambridgeshire) where I used to live. Picked up ne rubber hoses and a new hard boost pipe the on that fits to the inlet. Weird it was a different shaper to my old 1. Even more fun once fitted I was able to finally fit the shifter weight to the selector tower. Wow what a difference that makes. :D Super smooth changes. Always wondered why my pipes were in the way. Whilst at Not Escorts we talked about my lack of Fan problem. The guys there said that the relay and bracket that I saw on Ebay was only fitted to later cars??? Anybody want to carry on with this post and help me.

Yep I have fun gas in my G60. Its a wet system consisting of a 10lb bottle running through a fogger nozzle. 100 shot jets. These need to come out and fit 50 or so. 100 is mad. Wet system is better runs petrol and gas through the inlet chamber. Its good fun the car goes like stink. I just can't afford teh refills at the mo... As my mates say how long does the bottle least.....Hhahahahahahaha

Wow some stretchtastic stuff going on there. How are arches rolled? Is this a better idea than the Corsa and an angle grinder  I want a set of Brock B1's Can ya put 9's on the rear and say 7's up front? I do agree the stretched tyre does look fattastic but its not for me.

Steering rack issues solutions and swaps....

Having my rack replaced at Awesome next week. Its been leaking from the centre telescopic joint now for a year. Only leaks on full lock so not to bad. Full fluid change and alllignment for £230 all in... Thought that was a good price. I would do the work myself but can't be arsed. To wet now. Plus £140 for a rack £100 down as deposit which I get back and then I would have to pay for an allignment again so let the guys at Awesome do it. I will at last have green fluid in teh system Yay.. My red is the wrong stuff  -
Hehehehehe indeed

If ya buy one of the Mocal fans maybe it will come with a temp sensor. Then all ya need is a + & - feed and the fan will thermastatically take care of its self... Or maybe I'm dreaming.. :?:
-
Errr Thanks guys. NO its a big No I don't have that in my engine bay. Does the fan need it to spin up? I was not sure about the part on Ebay. You know what its like oh yes this part fits all cars for a quick sale. So A G60 would def have it. All I have is a loom feeding from near the headlights to the fan motor and then to the thermo switch on the rad. I picked up a new loom from a Passat and tried that 3 thermo switch's 2 VAG 1 unipart style. As I said with the fan wired to a dash switch it works fine. Although The run on does not work due to the circuit being attached to the switch. I guess it kills the power. I've circled my connector with wires to the dash switch. Ya can also see my top hose taped up. It split the otherday!!! Cheers guys.
-
Cheers flusted a 'what' kind of answer is that??....... Do you not read. There is power to the loom on my car and on g6off's car. The question I asked is.. Read the first post. You said it goes by the battery... What does. There is no relay by my battery. Forums suffer due to poor knowledge or answers supplied by othere users. Ya know a little bit of knowledge is dangerous. g60ff is a new user and may no nothing about a Corrado. I have rebuilt mine from the ground up. The only thing to get working is my rad fan. I would like it to work as it should.
-
Yep I have live at the switch. If I short the plug on the loom my fan works fine. I have it wired to a 2 stage switch on the dash. . Actually its just a 2nd fog switch from a Passat. Three wires all from the thermo switch plug Just clip onto the dash switch and click click fan on what ever speed I like. Its just weird that after 3 new rad mounted thermo's the fan still doesn't come on. The run on circuit is fine that works as it should. :?: What do ya mean "Nope that goes by the battery"?? Non by my bat? Is it even for a G60?

Jack up drivers side of car. Slide under front of car drivers side. If layout is the same as a G60 you will see the PS pump. Will have a pulley and belt going to crank pulley at the bottom of engine block. You'll see the PS pump has a bolt in an adjuster slot. The support bracket is part of this setup. X2 bolts vertical and X1 going into pump adjuster bracket. Remove these 3 bolts and the cast alloy support wiill just pull away. You should be able to trace the Rad lower hose all the way to the stat. You can see it if ya look Black plastic X2 10mm bolts. You have to remove the alloy supprt to get at it though. Jack up the car and find the Rad lower hose and follow it across the front of car. This will lead you to the stat and you will see what ya have to do. All this is only relevant if your car (is it a 60 or valver?) A valver may well be different. Never worked on one.

I have somewhere. Months back I did a how to on all this but nobody got back to me on how to upload it all. I fitted a new waterpump n all soughts. Documented everything. Anyway. Its not hard its just stupid. The stat is at the bottom of the engine??? Remove said stat and get covered in water??? You will get wet anyway. Its 40 minute job to be honest. I have now done it to many times. My rad keeps getting airlocked so now running no stat. Just pull the PS pump bracket and you'll see the stat housing. Nowt to it really. It can be an arse getting the rubber 'O' ring on the stat housing to seat correct but other than that go for it.

As it sez on the tin. people have told me that my 1992 J plate G60 with no Aircon should have relays behind the pass side glovebox?? I can find none. SO is this what I should have behind said glove box?? Ebay link
-
Yep thats what I did. Mk1 GTI filterhead fitted to a 16 row mocal cooler. Whole lot of Ebay cost me £20. :D I removed the water based heat exchanger. I have no probs with the oil getting up to temp or staying there. I guess its first Winter will be the proof so to speak.
