  1. No I have run the car at night when picking up my kids all way from Cambridge lights on but no stereo (kids chatting away to me). All was fine. Its always with the stereo. its only a cassette player. Kitted it out Lol. Actually my old dear loves it all. She wants it pimping  I'll check for a box in the Bay. Its only a 1.2
  2. mother has a Clio. For ages she has been saying it keeps cutting out on her. I drive it. No problems. i put it down to her holding the clutch. Anyway It has happened to me. I narrowed it down to when the stereo has been on. Does not matter how long teh journey say Manchester to Notts. If ya have the stereo on pull up at teh lights an it just dies??? Run the car without teh stereo on and all is fine. At this point I had to eat humble pie  Sorry mum. Is this an alternator problem??
  3. Hi mate. I had a four wheel alignment done. Great people in there. Car drives a treat and now I have 200 miles on the charger it is really starting to pull. Been keeping it under 3000 revs till its run in. On the bad front... Since I owned the car I have had a weird Power Steering leak. No idea where the fluid is going but it keeps going down. The guy at Awesome found it by sheer chance. When he put the car on the ramp, another tech in the workshop found a curve of fluid on the floor. Everybody started to look for the source. Nobody could find it on any car in there. No trail in the shop nor pool in the parking area. It was my car. The centre telescopic joint is leaking but only under full lock. He said you as in me would have never found that till it really went. I was loosing a little on each journey made. So now a new rack is needed They quoted me £247 all in including full fluid change to the correct green fluid mine is red, pump flush and if I take the car there he won't charge me again to setup the alignment... A rack at my local shop is £195 plus a £100 surcharge  May aswell let Awesome do it really. So where is the window module !!!!
  4. Driving home from Awesome today. Suddenley my drivers window won't work! A sought of clicking then nothing. Where is the control unit? When I press the button I can hear something trying to work?? At least its up at the mo.
  5. Well here is an update on this post. Went to Awesome GTI in South Manchester today for a 4 wheel alignment job. They found my magically disapearing fluid...On their workshop floor! it freaked them out a bit. They could not find where the trail of fluid had come from. No trail from carpark and non in work shop only at a point where they turned the wheel on full lock to get the car on the ramps. So I have been loosing a little at every tight corner. It only leaks on full lock..Otherwise non at all. I have been looking for this leak for 5 months!! Its coming from the centre telescopic joint. They quoted me £247 all in for a new rack draining out the WRONG red fluid and refilling with green. Also said they will redo the alignment for free if I take it to em. Just paid £80 for that :( Priced a rack at my local shop £195 plus my old 1 in return £100 surcharge  For that price I'll let Awesome do it. So there ya go my 60 has red fluid in it with the res having a red top. They checked and it should have green mineral stuff running through the pipes. No red ever ever.
  6. Identical to my recent probs. I just took out my stat. No probs since. Will sought it out at teh end of summer  Yep My rebuilt gwerks charger n shocker kit is sweeeet also.
  7. Cool. I have been really uhhhhhhhhh over it. Even the MOT tester said weird that all your display is on.... That was it oh S*** what have I earthed out or shorted damaged what ever.

    Gauges

No need for Vac readings really just go for a Boooooost gauge. Having a charger in the car makes it more interesting. Unique almost on UK Rds
  9. Interesting thread. Dragging up an oldie here. Now the C is on the Rd a little elecy Gremlin lives in the car. Start car first time every time. No probs at all. Stereo is Dead some of the time. Also noticed Oil pressure gauge needle is dead. All dash lights work including Aux gauges. Also read on a previous thread the question was asked 'Have you messed about with the speakers? One in qoestion drivers Tweeter'... Yes I have infact I had to repair all the front conections. So what may I have disturbed? Narrowed this down to... If I just touch the key whilst running the needle rises and the stereo pops on and all is well. Is this the Ignition switch?
  10. Cheers Walesy. I just couldn't remember if they stayed on or not!!!
  11. Feel A dunce asking this. Now the car has been on the Rd for a week or so I just realised. When it is turned off does the LCD display stay on? Mine does and for the life of me I can't remember if it did this before the rebuild
  12. Calipers on my 60. Caliper bolts were standard bolts. Caliper bracket attaching to hub was Allen bolts. Use a blow torch on the Allen bolts. They unwind very eay. The heat expands the threads and it just breaks the rust spin out easy.
  13. Hi. Its not a big job, Get under the car and remove the power steering reare alloy bracket. Its 2 bolts that go vertically into the bloc and 1 bolt that attaches to teh pump. Once this is off you will see the plaxtic stat housing. 2 bolts and then ya get wet. The housing will pull away easy and the stat will jsut drop out. No worries at all. Fit new stat refit housing with new 'O' ring and refit pump bracket. Fill the car up from the top rad hose and also fill up from the hose that the two temp senders are on. This will get water into teh water pump rear chamber. All done in less than 20 mins. I actually have a how to wrote on this but can't upload it yet. Problems with the site. Hope it helps
  14. Same as me then. As said in earlier post. As I said bleed the system. loosen the Matrix hoses at the bulkhead and flex them at the entry point of teh matrix. This will enable a stubborn air lock to bleed slowly. This gets it moving. Then when you drive the car the pump works at a higher rate and will then push the airlock out to the water res.
  15. Is your engine Vac system set up correct? I had sim readings on my 92 G60. Upon investigation my ECU Vac system was in a total mess. See here. Read through this rather than me type it all out again. Once I got hold of as new throttle body and rebuit the system the car runs bang on.
  16. At last I can post in this thread... What did I do in my corrado today... I got my MOT :D So after 5 months I got to drive it. Sweeeeeeet. A good feeling to sit at lights whilst peoples face's always say "What is that car" Ahh 250 miles and my Gwerks charger will be run in. After that some right foot fun.
  17. So do I.. She is sweet. Great show not often 5th gear is better than TopGear.
  18. What reg is ya 60? Mine is 1992 J plate. No CAT no test required 8)
  19. You & me my friend have work to do in Autumn...Get the system working with a stat  Still if it works for Summer then a Summer of fun can be had
  20. Even with the stat out I had no heat at the Matrix. On tickover the pressure is not enough to force an air bubble from the Matrix. As soon as I took her on the Rd I had hot air. Stopped the car and checked the coolent. Sure enough it needed topping up. So as you drive the blockages will clear. Def don't always trust the dealers.
  21. Hi. What do you have. Im in a G60. To remove the stat on a 60 do:... Get under the car. At the power steering pump simply remove the alloy rear support bracket. two bolts vertical in to teh block and 1 going in to the pump. Once this is off you will see the stat housing. Black plastic with water pipes going to it. Get ready to be wet. simply remove the two bolts in the housing. Pull housing away. Catch water n antifreeze if you like. Remove stat and then rebolt housing up. Only nip the bolts up. Then you can refill car. Use the top hose and also the hose that goes from the temp sender flange. This gets water into the pump rear chamber. Now start car. get it up to temp and remove the clip off the top hose. Slip a broad blade screwdriver under the hose and rotate it. This will open the hose a little and bleed any air from the system. With luck your bottom hose will get warm then hot quick. Ie coolent is flowing round the engine. If all is OK refit the power steering pump support and your off for a drive. As for your worries about removing the stat. The car will be fine. The stat is mainly used for winter. It holds the water in the block to get the car up to temp faster. When up to temp the stat opens and cool water rolls into the block. It also helps to get your heater hot quick. Ie it holds the water whilst warm making you nice n toasty. My car has been fine since. Why the stats would not open is beyond me. Its a fight for next Autumn. The engine will cool alot faster in the Winter months Cold air hitting the rad. so that is why you have a stat. To keep the engine at optimum temp. Hope it helps
  22. Is the bottom hose hot?? I know that sounds real condesnding sorry. However in my recent adventures into Corrado land I found that I just could not get the stat to open. I had 3. Each time the lower hose was stone cold. All 3 tested in hot water all 3 opened fine!!!! On tickover ect the engine would get so hot it was scary. As it was nobody on the forum could come up with anything. I have had my head done, skimmed refitted the lot. new VAG pump ect. Removing the stat was the only solution. I even filled the block through top hose and the temp flange hose so the water went direct to the pump rear chamber. I now have no stat in the car and she runs fine. At least for the summer. Plus I got my MOT pass today woohooo. So much work in teh last 4 months all worth it.
  23. My 60 has no CAT. Just passed its MOT also. YEEEEEHAAAAAA. Sounds the nuts with no CAT. No Meooows either. hahahahahhaha No CAT test required so wickedly pleased.
  24. Woooohoooooooo I have my MOT...Get in there hahahahahhaha. Tester said when I have run in that Supercharger that car is not going to be touched from the lights. Handbrake is a bugger. Even with a new caliper and adjustment it still only reached 18%. He said try to adjust it a little. His mate has a Mk2 Golf and that prooved to be a swine to get right. Anyway I'm off out for a spin.... :D
