  1. I used to but can't find it now :( Just use all the VR6 stuff.
  2. I'm sure there will be people beating down your doors!! Well done mate.
  3. Hey no worries it's no big deal. Things I need to know are:- (you will probably want to take the hub/upright off the car to do this) 1.the distance between mounting centres on the brake caliper, 2.the distance from the centre of the mounting holes to the split line on the caliper, 3.the distance from the carrier mounting face on the hub to the inside disc face (new disc) 4.disc thickness 5.the distance between the carrier mounting centres on the hub, 6.and finally the difficult one, I need to know how far out to place the caliper, so scribe a line between the carrier mounting holes on the hub, and then place the caliper on the disc so that the mounting face is parallel to the line you have scribed. Then measure the distance. To temporarily mount the caliper to get measurements you can gaffa tape it on around the circumference- remember to shim it down the disc groove on the caliper to line the edge of the pad to the edge of the disc (1mm inside it). If you can't do this then PM me and i'll talk you through doing it another way that is accurate but long winded.... :D

    24v VR6 OEM+

That conversion looks spot on, nice tidy work :shades: VERY nice car.
  5. Cheers mate! Came across a big show stopper on the seats though! £750+VAT to trim them! so I'm going to do all the foam work myself as i'm being quite fussy as to just how I want them trimmed and this should cut the cost down quite a bit. Hey the photos don't tell the whole story!! I can help you out with the carriers mate by all means, but you'd need to give me all the dimensions. Hole centres etc.
  6. I would recommend getting a 20amp waterproof connector from RS, the fans draw a lot of current and the non waterproof type supplied on the end of the fan would soon cause problems after a few months of wet English weather....
  7. Nice anniversary the wheels really suit it, and I know what you mean about no biting I'm trying to sell my wife's 8v at the moment..... Good skills with the 4wd stuff, really interested to see how it all turns out. I figure probably one of the hardest things to do with the 4wd is finding the bits, so you're half way there already!! Are you using dutchdubs (think thats the name) brackets to hold the haldex?
  8. Ahh still going slowly i'm afraid, it's all out of my hands a bit though, been getting on with a few other bits that needed doing. Bolted all the suspension up, discovered a couple of small patches of rust up in the turrets, so the engine's coming out this week (needed to anyway to fit the loom properly and fit the braided brake lines easily) and while it's out I'm either going to roll the car over on hoops outside (alternative to a spit) if it's going to be sunny, or if not I'm going to have to do it all on the two poster. I'm going to get right up into the arches and check all the underside of the car for any rust and clean the whole lot whilst I'm under there. Put a deposit down on a new car Yesterday!! 2003 Black 330i touring sport with full leather, picking it up next Saturday, it's nice and quick and compared to Helens Mk3 Gti so much less crashy over bumps, given that it's on 18" alloys is quite a feat. Unfortunately I'm still having to drive around in the Arosa 1.0 :( until the Corrado is finished (she gets the Beemer). Even so I'm not sure how much longer i'll be able to justify keeping the Corrado, I've managed to blag a year of to Helen using the 'I've spent all these hours building it the least you can do is let me drive it for a while' arguement. But she's very kind and would never actually tell me to sell it if I didn't want to  Either way, I don't think there is one bit of running gear, braking gear, or engine gear that isn't new or as new left on the car now, once the underside is cleaned up and the interior back in it's going to be driven for the summer to iron out any development issues and get the chassis set up properly and then into the paintshop over the winter for a bare metal flanks respray (not the roof). Then show season for next year i'm hoping. I was being tempted into turbos and 4wd, but having thought about it long and hard and discussed it with a few mates it's staying fwd and NA, just with a few internal upgrades :norty: At the end of the day, I haven't got the heart to rip up the floor of my Storm :luvlove: Did these bits last week, rear calipers to match the fronts, still need a bit of cleaning up after the powdercoating, and i've got new seal kits to put on. Seat all welded up, off to the trimmers now for foaming and leather. :D
  9. Floors out eh, Fred Flintstone car maybe :D ?
  10. Can't quite believe you're letting the engine go after all the effort but understand that homelife has to be looked after first. James is spot on though, just enjoy the car for a while before you rip it apart again, start on the turbo in the autumn :D :D
  11. As always it's all in the preperation of the car, and unfortunately the manufacturer will always have a better starting point!! So unless you really have buckets of money to throw at a paint job, then you may well get a better finish on the paint but it will never be a nice new undented/filled galvanized body it's going onto. If you do respray your car, in my opinion it's always worth using a curly hand wire brush and shedloads of nitromors under clingfilm (stops it evaporating too quickly) to get the old paint off, if you use power tools (ie DA) you always take off the galvanising. Takes about two days to do a car this way.
  12. Yeah a lithium based (high temperature) grease containing molybdenum disulphide (reduces friction) is what you are after mate. Dark grey colour.
  13. ask on e46fanatics.com you'll probably get a better reply, but generally they are the most reliable 3 series engine.
  14. I would be interested to see how you get on, Are you going to try using a heat gun on them?
  15. Yeah there stuff always seems to be highly rated, might have to look into that :D
  16. I'm not going to tell you to do anything illegal, but most of you must have discovered the Spotify website by now (basically a website that playes any tunes ,new releases etc you wish to hear- it's bloody brilliant) You could use a free download called MyMP3 sound recorder and then play your Spotify playlist, which could for example be several hundred albums long. i like MyMP3 because it recognises any gaps in the music and automatically starts a new recording
  17. Glad you got it fixed mate :D
  18. Yeah tuned R32's sound very nice 8) , and yeah I wouldn't be suprised at just how expensive 24v cams are!!
  19. Good find!! Nice to see another one being saved!!
  20. Personally i have gone for an Audi engine, as they are made up to quite late (2005) without the need for an FPR and they are quite common- and in my personal opinion less likely to have been ragged!! Hope all this helps :D
  21. They'll probably be fine for 90% of people mate, but it does sound like they aren't fitted properly.....
