If you're going to spend money you may as well get the real thing and use AP, Willwoods are cheap but not particularly well developed, my last employers stopped using them (after initially being attracted by the price) because they had sooo many problems with prolonged hard use.

If your having big problems with warping discs then it wouldn't be a bad idea to try getting a good cold air feed to the back of the disc where the vent inlets are. I'm not sure if the G60 already has the cold air feed to the wheelarch liner from the front of the bumper, I think it does, so perhaps you could try to duct the air from the arch liner closer to the disc somehow? Worth a look maybe

It's nice to see it coming together, I totally agree it's definitely better to have to bolt on new bits than weld on new panels. Always enjoy seeing your progress with attention to detail, it's almost slower than mine though :D :D

Trading Standards time Pete....... -
Yeah I've got a Sony DAB unit in my car with a £30 stick on windscreen aeriel. It's quite sh1te, but I don't know if that is DAB or my set up as I've never been in another car with DAB. Basically I get reception in cities, but nowhere else. :(

Cheers for popping over Pete, when you've got all the little niggles sorted it'll be an absolute dream to drive, I think the general feel and balance of of the car if feckin brilliant, it's going to be even better when the chassis set up has been done. Real credit to you chap. :D I'm real sad now mines not finished :( -
Cheers mate :) , done a bit more........... Really pleased with how the seat back has turned out, I've still got to get all the foam to cover it with, but I'm having trouble finding the right stuff. I want to use a closed cell foam, rather like what you use for roll mats, but 50mm thick. All the bolsters will be this thick except for the bit actually against your back which will have curvature in it so it fits my back perfectly. The seat sits a little too high at the moment, I may have to lower it a couple of inches which is no big deal. At last I collect the 7075-T6 ally material I ordered from Smiths metal supplies (great service) for the caliper carriers and have roughed out the shape on the saw at work. I've got some tooling on order, so when it arrives I'll finish them off. Doing it this way is so much cheaper than buying the Seat ones, and they are lighter (less unsuspended weight which so important for damper response etc) and just as strong. But ok so the Seat ones are hardly heavy anyway :D As far as the car goes, I've had all the lighting loom wire increased to a thicker guage, and the relays taken out of the engine bay to reside near where the ABS relays are behind the glovebox, at long last 99% of the loom is now complete, jon's been very patient with me asking him to change things every now and again :D . I've got all the TT functions like the fuel pump priming upon opening the door etc, he's done a very neat and thorough job I'm really pleased with. It should look totally OEM. hopefully i'll get more done over the easter BH but I'm not holding my breath.........

Congratulations on a fantastic purchase mate. I think I'm one of the few people on here who love Hondas, although like all manufacturers they have never made my 'perfect car'. Loved my Teg R but ultimately the corrado stayed and it went, despite being absolutely reliable and such an involving drive..... But I still browse ebay/autotrader for good ones, I just loved the sound of the engine over 6k, it's absolutely addictive, you just don't give a sh1t about the interior. Top of the JD power survey for customer satisfaction, you should certainly find it more reliable...

silver I think.

That really sucks with the garage mate and those burns look nasty, very very similar to mine I told you about but at least it wasn't your Corrado doing it to you. Did they actually fix the gearbox in the end? People like that don't deserve to be in business. Your engine looks seriously good sat in the bay  , just gets me really depressed making me wish mine was moving a bit faster but it's out of my hands really unless I take very drastic action which i don't want to do, I'm never buying a house without a garage ever again, and I can't wait to move. :( -
You can also get ITC illuminated ones from here, but 69 euros is still expensive..... http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... GB256GB256 Oh and click on the union jack in the top right...........

Rear beam alignment (bracket/s replaced) - Ideas?
KipVR replied to boost monkey's topic in Drivetrain
I shouldn't worry about it too much mate, just bolt it up as best you can, then take it to a garage with a corghi and get them to do a good alignment check, make sure you tell them you've just done the beam so they can pay special attntion to that area. :thumb right: -
Yeah, if you made your brakes bigger you might need a bigger space saver, but otherwise you're fine. :D
-
The tyre patch could be where the previous owner has skidded maybe? (wait for the jokes :D )
-
Do you reckon this will work for inpro rear lights too?
-
How do they do that then? The bush is allowed to move sideways across the car, the wheel attitude doesn't change. I understood the sliding rear beam to enable the rear of the car to shift its weight sideways to the outside of a corner counteracting the fwd understeer. When you replace the sliding bushes with poly ones you remove this ability gaining predictability and grip but also lose the balanced feel of the car.

No I just meant it's not necessarily quicker to take the glass out.....You definately need to do it. :D
-
Show glass finish? You should ask him to write down just what it is he does for that extra money- paint quality? Is that for a full bare metal respray? Could you take the glass out to help with costs? It's sometimes quicker to take the glass out anyway- not necessarily for the corrado though. All paintwork should be finished properly unless the customer wants it to have the orange peel finish the car cam from factory with to make a repair blend in better. Can you cut costs down by just having the flanks done maybe? Does the roof and pillars need doing?

Picking up the new material for them on Friday, so i'll be doing them next week...

Got most of the design work finished now, so sending out the laser cutting files tomorrow. The brown bit is the foam which a mate of mine will rowter/water jet cut out, the silver bit is the ally seat back, and the other little bracket is to be welded onto the mechanism to provide mounting points. I may add some more structure to the seat back hidden under the foam once It's been made and I've got a feel for it. The shape of the headreast mimics the rear bench headrests. I've got rid of both the seat reclining and tilting remote mechanisms as they just complicated things and I think it will operate better without either. For the reclining mechanism all I need to do is attach the adjustment knob onto the end of the suare bar running through the mechanism (same as Mk3 etc), and for the tilt mechanism I'm going to weld a foot lever straight onto the hook. In both cases the 'feel'of the mechanisms will be much more direct and less effort involved which is always a good thing.climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfseat assembly.jpg[/attachment:8c26e37z]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfP310309_23.49.JPG[/attachment:8c26e37z]seat assembly 2.jpg[/attachment:8c26e37z]

Camber bolts are a great, but why did VW stop using them in the first place?? Just a word of caution to anyone getting four wheel alignment done- make sure your wheels are running true, I used to have one that had been clobbered making it wobble side to side by 5mm. The alignment tool just read this as the rear geometry as out, and depending on how the wheel was rotated, it gave different readings!!
-
That seems a fair price TBH. No matter how reccomended someone is though, they'll NEVER take as much care as you want them to, simply because it costs them money. You're better off spending a thousand pounds borrowing a garage or workshop and doing/understanding it yourself.
-
I'd give it a go mate, it might just be the loom length that is different.
-
That's the part you've highlighted mate :thumb right:
