And no good if you live on a hill!
-
It's really simple but good! I've never seen another one though.
-
Jim, are you suggesting we have a toad grooming session?
-
Yeah patience is required in bucketloads!!! I started this conversion in Nov 2007!
-
Cheers dude. Sadly the paint is beyond normal cleaning products. Need to have a go at it with an orbital polisher and some G3 Hey Tom, I'm still on for coming up and giving you a hand mate, I have an orbital, and G3 equivalent. Name a day and I'll come up, maybe a sunny evening? No romancing though please. :D

Cheers mate :D It's all Jon's equipment though! I was really worried the car would topple over and end up on its roof, but it's fine!! Worked really well. Don't know whey it's called a grumpy roller, presumably someone out there has a comedy surname!!

Honest Jon = To55er

Anyone else seen this? Good laugh http://www.gtiproject.com/

The exhaust is now finished which was the last major part of the conversion, and Jon's done a really nice job, it looks totally factory and the tig welds are awesome. 8) ....So the engine is back out again for a thourough cleaning and repainting of the underside, wheel arches and engine bay. We rolled the car over to access everything easily, and then I did the first clean of the underside which I need to do before any spray goes on to repair any patches and respray any stone worn patches and generally bring anything back to as it originally was 13 years ago. The rolling equipment was brilliant (grumpy roller it's called), just unbolt the wheels and bolt this on, picking the car up took two of us a lot of effort though! When all the cleaning is done I may as well do all the new brake lines, fuel filter, put all the new plastic clips on etc whilst it's easy access. Then it's back onto its wheels for the final build.

I agree with Arnau, prep it yourself, very easy if there aren't any dents etc, but ask the paintshop how much they'll knock off first- may not be worth the hassle!!

Yandards' Nugget G60 - gone but not forgotten..
KipVR replied to Yandards's topic in Members Gallery
8) Looking good mate, chargecoolers are definitely the way forward, I used one on my Mk1 G60 but I found it still suffered from heatsoak (as you would expect) but got round the problem by installing a fan override switch. Also, I made some nice chargecooling pipework for it and it looked so factory... What I did was just use household copper pipe, elbows etc, and then covered it in heatshrink to make it look plastic, obvously you need a small amount of well placed hoses to allow for movement. Anyway it was just a thought You will probably laugh but it honestly worked a treat and was really cheap! :D -
You should be able to find an outfit that still sprays 2 pack without too much difficulty. Machine polishing cracked clear coat won't help it at all unfortunately mate. :(
-
It was the diameter that was too big, they hit the wheel weights, so unless I had weights on the outside of the rim then I couldn't use them :(
-
Would be interested to see if they do fit behind RC's, they didn't fit behind my old RX's. (17") :(
-
3 box is just quieter and probably a miniscule more back pressure. Hope they are back in business beacuse after many years mine has finally got a hole around one of the welds, and I can claim my lifetime guarantee!!

Why its sometimes better to ring the Dealer first...
KipVR replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in Suppliers Forum
By spending a lot of money for a lot of years!!! -
Ahh if only you had asked this a couple of months ago I could have measured and modeled the whole lot up for you monkey as I had all the bits off my car. Still, if you take a wishbone measurement you have got enough to get your roll centre, but i'd go a little further and measure up the rack , and uprights etc, so you can then find out the caster, KPI, KPO, bump steer etc etc and see if there are any ways to improve various parameters. Be interested to see how you get on!

However if the parts were cheaper in the first place, there would be more demand for them...ie headlights, late bumpers, VR steering rack, exhaust systems, etc etc. Despite the extra expense, I always try to buy VW bits and have been going to my local VW dealers for 15 years and know them really well, but they think I'm mad spending money on an old car. I get trade discount now which is good though! Parts club offers discount too, and a handy book. -
you need to put an instrument water temp sensor onto the R32 (one of the ports will have a blank in it), can't remember which colour it is though- yellow I think? I'm sure someone else will be able to tell you soon....
-
Are you doing the conversion yourself? Nice car mate.
-
Looks bloody nice mate. 8) 8) It'll definitely be that, you can practice on my car :D
-
It may be faster, but would you prefer to tell someone you have a Corrado, or a Fiesta? :D
-
:gag: can't stand cars like that. Chav-air Nice wheels though.

Audi's are the best engines- apparently slightly better quality internally- although I've yet to see this for myself, (but they are more expensive to buy new) and this may be though why they are given a slightly higher power output- but I'm not sure if Audi would have a different map for the sake of it, because they still have the same safety, economy margins etc so if the engine was the same surely the map would be the same  I do know for sure that the Audi uses a bigger diameter MAF, and the Airbox has a trumpet in it where the VW one doesn't, so there is one small difference. I'm sure it would work on a VW ECU. But the main reason they are best is because that is what i'm using. :D :D
