  1. yea, was a bit afraid of that - the oil will be changed afterwards..... Was thinking of painting it.........I'l see what I come up with :)
  2. Want to clean up my gearbox while it's out, and was thinking of sandblasting it - is there any dangers in doing this? (any "air openings" or similar)?. Also anyone painted theyr gearbox?. It's from a VR6.
  3. I could only dream about the R36 sadly - it would set me back roughly £8-90+ K due to taxes ;)
  4. Thnx for the info, yea I'v been looking at maybe importing one from Germany - as they seem a bargain down there as well, maybe 15-25000 km on the meter, and already half the price they where new. Also it seem I would get a top speced one (leather, navi, xenon, sensors +++) for about £10-15K less then the second hands here is listed at :) What would you say the main difference is between then 1.8 and the 170TDI ? (is the 1.8 160 a turbo engine - or is it the same as the 1.4 with a charger and turbo?)
  5. naaa, I think silver will be missing the "sparkle".......I'v had some other parts painted in silver - but they would be to "flat" - I think there is difference between silver and silver though....lol...;)
  6. Seem I'v found a close matching color, it's called Rally Wheel Silver seem to be this one:
  7. Anyone ever tested this car by any chance? - or maybe own one, and could shed some thoughts on the car itselfe ?
  8. yea been thinking of the 1.8 as well - ans will look into the taxes on it - but afraid it will be a bit more in taxes due to a stupid system here :)
  9. Anyone have any experiences with these cars?. As I'm soon probably gona change job, I'm thinking of getting a Passat CC, either a 2.0 170HP TDI, or a 1.8 TSI 160hp. Anyone got any experience with this car, and/or these engines?. I mean I love the look of this Passat (it will eventually replace my VR6 Passat Wagon), but unsure about the engine performance etc...and how they are to drive etc. Any advice appreciated :)
  10. Any idea what the color is called? (and how did it match up to the center caps?), I would like to get it as close to original one as possible - as the Spare wheel won't be done - it seem pretty much as new :)
  11. Any chance you have a link to those colors?/where to get them ? thnx
  12. Any idea if this might be the correct one: http://www.eastwood.com/hotcoat-powder- ... ilver.html
  13. Gona have the speedlines refurbished, and want them powdercoated. Anyone know where to get the same color as original ? (where to buy the powder) (and maybe what it's called)?. thnx
  14. They sit on the wheel hub, they are fastened with one allen bolt. You see the cable going from them and to the top of the strut mount in the front..
  15. I would presume the ECU might be doing something - as in the "manual" of the cars it normaly states that it will performe x horsepower with a given RON. And basicly 98 RON is of better quality then 95 :)
  16. Since the car have been sitting for a while make sure there isn't any "buildup" of dirt/rust between the ABS-sensors and the rotors (the sensors are magnetic remember) - but offcours a good chance one of em is long gone. Regarding the high emission - I had a similar problem with my Passat VR6 (was sky high) - when I scanned it with VAG-COM it came up with some errors on the O2 sensor - but as that was quite new I wasn't confident that that sensor had failed. Went on the net and found a manufacturer of O2 sensors that had a procedure for "cleaning" the sensor - if it maybe had gotten dirty by "oil" or similar. Can't remember exactly rpm's etc, but it was something along the lines of take the car for a "hard drive" to get it hot as possible, stop, and put it in neutral. Rev it up to roughly 3000 rpm's and hold it there for about 1-1.5 minutes. After that I think it was just to take the revs slowely down - delete the errors with vag-com again and take it for a spin to see if they come back. After I did this with the Passat it didn't threw any more errors, and when it got tested again it was well under the limit on emmission side - it has even passed another control 2 years later - still with the same sensor/cat etc :)
  17. regarding the plugs, I would have gotten the "regular" ones - not the platinum. AFAIK the VR6 is more "comfortable" with the regular ones - or so I'v heard. I'v run the regular ones on my Passat VR6 now for roughly 5 years - as a daily so they atleast seem to be alright :)
  18. Just saw some for sale localy, but will they fit the C without rubbing the tire? The ones for sale: Front: 6x16 ET 52,3 205/55-16 91v part-nr: 96436211201 Rear: 8x16 ET 52,3 225/50 R16 92W Kuhmo Part-nr: 98436211601 And what is an ok price? (they are priced at roughly £400)
  19. It should cover most cars, not only VW :)
  20. AFAIK it's a program that workshops use to get all the info they need for different cars - the torque specs, emission specs etc etc....:)
  21. alright thnx, to me it seems the nut is correct then and used over the rubber mounting........If I understand it correct?. thna again
  22. hmmm, ok, so nr 6 should be there also - are u sure???..... I thought it was only for OEM....
  23. Will do ;) I'l loose the germanautoparts nut and use another one though...;)
