A small update with some pics from the powdercoated manifold ++++ Some of the stuff: Manifold: Oil sump: Might not come out correct on the pic - in real life it seems almost black....;) -
never good to know, electric "gremlins" can be deviouse.......look for wires that might short out to either another wire or short to the metal flooring in the car etc.......

Is there any (good) brake discs that won't rust/loose colour
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Drivetrain
haha, was thinking of more "normal" brakes, I know some comes with some corrosive protection, but unsure on how good it is, among other ATE makes some -
Anyone know if there is any brake discs for the Corrado that won't start rusting when left unused, and eventually if they have color, won't loose it?

Only had the pleasure to drive my C roughly 1000 km - the distance from where I picked it up and back home. After that I stuck it in a garage, and when summer came tear it apart to do a small "overhaul".....it's still sitting on beems and won't be on the road until the summer again (it's only gona be driven during summer, due to all the road salt shit they use up here). Still get excited everytime I go and work on it, so reeeeeaaaly looking forward to march/april. Good thing for me is that the Passat I use daily also is fitted with VR6.....:)

Any experience with Zimmermann Sport brake discs? + jurid
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Drivetrain
ok, thnx for the info, this will be a stock VR6. Any idea what the "downside" of them are?..... For me they will only be to replace stock ones, and if I have understood correctly they shouldn't rust?.... -
Anyone got any personal experience with Zimmermann Sport discs for the Corrado?. Also interested in knowing about experiences with Jurid pads.

How much can be taken off the VR6 head ("shaving" it down)
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
yea helped a bit, didn't find any specs about it though, but knowing what it's called helps me a lot while using google too, thanks...:) (and I notice people have done it, so I should propapbly be ok, needed 1/10 of a mm I think it was)...;) -
Not sure what you guys call it in english, and couldn't find anything with search, so here goes. I'm currently doing the head/chain etc and want to "shave" of a bit on the head to make it "level", anyone know if there is any spec on how much one could take of it?. Not sure but think I might have read somewhere that it should not be "shaved", but AFAIK people have done it.

Can someone confirm that the lifters are same on 2.8 and 2.9
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
alright thnx...:) btw, happen to know if the oil pan is the same on the two's also?......as I took it off it seem to be in bad shape, and I have another 2.8 engine laying around and was thinking of using that pan if it's the same...:) Cheers! -
Anyone know if the hydraulic lifters for the VR6 is the same for the 2.8 and 2.9 versions?. As it seem some of them needs changing, and the head is off I want to replace em, and was thinking of ordering from the states.....
-
lol Looking like a very nice project......:)
-
hehe, ok - I presume it "should" hold the bearing atleast - I think it might be installed wrong when they installed it before.......not 100% sure though as I can't remember exactly how it sits at the moment....:) Thanks for the info...:)

Another small update: Finished painting the wheelbay and "refresh" the plastic in there - brake hoses are cut of as the calipers currently is getting a well deserved makeover at Bigg red with polymer coating etc...:) (picture lying a bit - it's "black" when you see it...:) The intake manifold before blasting: After blasting (don't think it got the finnish I'm after so will most likely get powdercoated in black chrome - or something similar to aluminium color): Cleaned up the TB a bit too: Speedlines before powdercoating: A very dirty transmission - in need of some serious love: And finaly the suspension eventually going on the car: -
ok, thnx...:) I presume the other nut will be the one that's on the supersport system that was on the car when I bought it......:) (I'l take a pic of it and post back in here when I have it available...;)
-
If someone could tell me if this is the correct "order" it would be appreciated, here is the pic:
-
Anyone happen to have a pic of ho the KW's installed - what "original" parts are supposed to still be on? Mostly wondering about the rubber thingy that goes on the underside of the "wheelbay" and the bearing that goes with it (the original stuff). Either pic or explanation of what order the things are supposed to be in would be great
-
Blasted the intake manifoil, "freshed up" the plastic inside the wheel-bay and re-installed it++++ Found out I will powdercoat the intake manifoil as it seem that the blasting still leave some of the black spots etc........
-
Where you get that ultrasonic cleaner?, and what type of fluid do you use to clean the injectors? Cheers!
