you are right picked it up from edinburgh 6:45pm flew up from bristol, drove back and was home at 1:20am :) no spray before e38 will sort wheels and put the steels on first as i will be refurbing them myself, then i want to change the altenator as it looks shabby and i need to get a leakdown test! then when i know how healthy she is will get her sprayed coilovers you'll love it as soon as you get them on Ive had konis on my last G and not sure whats on this one but FK rings a bell well hope you do end up taking her to e38 speak soon

cheers for all the comments guys ive decided to be slightly sensible will run standard on the front 7.75 or 8's cant remember what it is on the front and 9's om the back i run 215's on the my 9J 16" borbets they were fine but the issue with the front on the RH;s is that they are 17" so 9J on 17's i think will just be too much on lock, now just need to get hold of the 2 x 9"dishes and then put my steels on ready for the refurb by hand like on my borbets melted fingers nice :censored:

if your only running 68mm the g60 cam is just as good id port the charger first before getting a cam stage 4 and chip suit each other nicely

iow_corrado_g60 replied to iow_corrado_g60's topic in Engine Bay
cheers gents just seen 1 for cheap and was wondering what the possibilty was of doing this as im getting a leak down test done on mine soon to see whether its worth fiddling or whether i should start with a new g60 engine build it up myself and then swap over when finished well thats the plan at tge mo -
as above guys can you put a mk3 2ltr GTI bottom end onto a g60? whats involved and what gains would you get from doing this cheers in advance Andy

junkie i did say RULE OF THUMB for modded cars (who takes there 1.4 polo on a RR day?) transmission usually takes 40+ bhp its just a known factor both my last G and my mk3 vr both at stealth RR days on Vince's machine have lost i think 38 and 40 something and my old mk2 golf digi had its claimed 112bhp at fly and only 86 i think or so at the wheels i guess that the reason it would be less on a 1.4 is that all transmission etc is lighter smaller maybe a "EXPERT" could come clear it up.
-
general rule off thumb you lose 40-50bhp before power hits the wheels

still love my old one....... furkz was the nuts thou

cheers all for your responses can someone tell me whats more useful to see what ive got left in my engine please
-
neil thanks for that mate does anyone have a scale for what would constitute a good reading for a leak down test! neil have you had one done?] Cheers Andy

this may sound silly I want to get a better feel for my engine before I do anything to it! as ive decided to keep the g60 and start modding! bodywork and interior first then engine. but unike my last one which was rebuilt then i took it apart again I knew it was strong and Iknew it could take what i threw at it! so really I cant remeba what the exact right phrase is but would like to know if anyone has a clue how much a leak down and compression engine test will cost and what exactly will it tell me? Cheers in advance Andy
